Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa Downtown

We chose this place for its amazing view of Ottawa river and Parliament building and we weren't disappointed - heart of the city visible from your room is wonderful! Room is comfy; bathroom is new and very comfortable, has everything you need (except mentioned bathrobes), also has a large window with nice view. Great benefit - free coffee machine with tasty coffee and microwave near reception (there is also small coffee machine in room, but the coffee is not tasty). Daily room cleaning. Great area: quiet but close to store, restaurant, park, museum, bus stop, bridge to Ottawa.

The only one real problem is the air conditioner: it's noisy, and the worst part both ours and next room's air conditioner were placed on our balcony - this makes it almost not possible to stay on the balcony since it's very noisy and very hot.

Walking distance to parliament. Nice hotel overall. Really good breakfast (eggs bacon sausages pancakes toast etc).

The hallways/hotel room had a weird smell. Our room door didnt close easily. The guy at reception told us we had a room with a view of the parliament but it was a room with a view of the back street where it seems homeless frequent. We barely spemt any time in thr hotel so it didnt matter too much but it was a disappointment. As we came in late, we got a bag of popcorn. He never told us there was no microwaves in the rooms.. so we had to come back down. It was just annoying as we were tired. The coffeebar/microwave area was dirty and not stocked.

The hotel was close of the city center of Ottawa. The room was clean and we had enough towels. The soaps (hand and body) and the lotion smelled really good. It was quiet. The lady at the front desk was bilingual. The parking was free if we created an account, which we did for free too. Everything in the room worked as planned and we didn’t encounter any issue in our stay.

The elevators were tiny, super slow and always crowded. One of the two seemed broken, as it was never moving. In the end, it was faster to use the stairs all the time. In the shower, the shower head was way too low : I’m 6’2 and the water was coming out on my neck. It wasn’t comfortable to wash my hair. Having softer toilet paper would have been nice as well, instead of the transparent one available. Finally, there was almost never enough pancakes at the breakfast. They disappeared super quickly, and the poor guy working there was doing everything by himself : cleaning tables, refilling the food trays, etc. Give him some help so it can be a more peaceful job.

Good location and very nice view of the river and Ottawa. Staff were nice. Walking distance from the Canadian Museum of History and Children's Museum.

Parking was scarce but we were lucky to find one and we didn't use our car for our entire stay (2 nights) so we wouldn't lose our spot. Very long line and wait for breakfast and the dining area is quite tight and small. No more bacon on the second day. They easily run out of other food, too like pancakes. The shower knob was loose so it was hard to control the water temperature.

We had a king-bed room with balcony on 9th floor. The view is incredible, both daytime and night. The location is also fantastic. It is only 1 block away from Histroy museum/Children museum. We could walk there in 10 minutes in the morning, come out for lunch and a nap, then walk back again for afternoon.

Space is really limited in the main parking lot. But it has 2 other parking lot in the back of the hotel. There is also noise, but I didn't figure out whether it's from equipments on the roof or from the old Alexandra bridge.

River view with balcony overlooking the Pont Alexandra and Parliament Hill. Beautiful sunrise over Parliament. Buffet breakfast, friendly staff. Organic citrus shampoos. Convenience store next door. Short walk across to Parliament, Rideau Mall, and OTrain station.

No balcony furniture to sit or eat. Lots of cigarette ash from past guests. The pool is just off the lobby but you have to goto the first floor and take a staircase down, then take the staircase back up. No water bottles provided in room.

The beds were very comfortable and the staff were friendly. The view of Ottawa and the river were excellent from level 6. The location was great, easy river walk to downtown Ottawa and Hull districts while avoiding the hustle of the city. Included breakfast was handy and car parking was easy (not included in price).

The balcony didn't come with chairs and the neighbouring room air conditioner outlet was on the balcony so it was noisy outside our control. Therefore not fun to sit on balcony and enjoy view or leave door open for fresh air. Although I loved having included breakfast, eating off disposable plates in a dark conference room was unenjoyable.

I had requested a quiet room away from the elevators which they gave me. (up on the top floor!) I stayed here last summer and both times have really appreciated the great location, walking distance from places like the National Gallery of Art and Museum of History, and the tulips on Major's Hill Park. Since it was the long May weekend, I imagine the hotel was full. The outdoor parking lots were overflowing on Saturday morning, so I worried about finding a place that night after going out to see friends. Reception (Fatou) assured me that if there were no more spaces, I would be allowed to use the indoor garage at no extra cost, just phone reception from the garage door and it would be opened for me. As it turned out I did get an outdoor space. It is best to go early for the breakfast buffet, to escape the crowds and find the best selection of food. I heard that breakfast would no longer be included with the room, too bad. Reception (Roudy) was very helpful when I forgot my room key card in my room, Pleasant staff in the breakfast room and in housekeeping also.

Pillows are firmer than I am used to, but brought my own from home so slept well. The a/c fan blew right at the head of my bed, so I made a wall of pillows to defect it.

The front desk staff was really good. The hotel was full of yougsters attending a music festival and it was a bit noisy on the corridors during night, nothing too worrysome though. When checking out, I gave this feedback when asked and the staff was extremely kind and sensitive to this situation. I was not expecting it and I appreciate it.

Wifi was a bit below average with vas connection on the last room at the end of the corridor.

I liked the room, it was quiet at night and it was very clean and had a beautiful view of Ottawa. The bathroom was small but worked.

I think I was charged twice on parking, as I ran my card through the pay machine when I arrived, and a different staff member in the morning asked me to pay. I advised him that I had already paid for parking on the way out. I was advised that it didn't show paid. I'll check my visa account later today, but it was confusing why I had to pay insert my visa on 2 different times on stay.
