Castel Maintenon Hôtel & Spa

Our room was really nice, spacious, quiet and confortable. The hotel is in the middle of a cute village with a beautiful castle. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. They forgot to let us know room service wasn’t available during our stay but when we arrived the receptionist gave us a list of restaurant we could go to which we really appreciated. Thanks to that we had the best meal in “le soleil” restaurant which was 3min walk away from the hotel.

Breakfast was too expensive, I wasn’t feeling well and my husband brought two croissant, a yoghurt and tea in our room and they charged 15£ ,for each of us, for that which was quite disappointing.

Room, parking, location.

On arrival we were told that the bar stayed open till midnight. Bar times are clearly displayed in the lifts. This has been for the last three years our last night of an annual motorcycle trip, before heading up to Calais. There were ten of us and we ate out in the town. We returned to the hotel at 11.20 and were told that the bar was shut. Two staff were behind the bar. One told us that they were not bar staff even though he had served us all drinks on arrival. Poor show.

We came to celebrate 45 years if marriage, a big thank you for the complimentary champagne. We loved the hotel, it's location it's modern setting, it's proper reception areas and most of all the big bright comfy bedroom with fantastic walk-in shower. Free parking on site is a big bonus. We did not use the spa so cannot comment

We were so disappointed with both dinner and breakfast. The choice on the evening menu was not great and when we ordered the entree it was reduced from 3 to 2. The quality of the food in no way resembled the price. Breakfast was way under staffed with shortages of food and some people had no seating/ tables available.

Very nice Hotel, good staff, very good English spoken by French staff. Nice bar open till late Coffee and tea available till late. Had the superior room which was indeed superior class. Big well decorated very nice and spacious bathroom with bath and separate shower.

Just one minor detail. Hotel had hosted a wedding party the night before so next morning when all the guests showed top for breakfast at the same time...staff had a hard time refilling bread and other breakfast supplies.

the room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The pool was a nice size, just a shame that the Hammam was out of commission at the time we attended. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was just a few minutes walk away from a lovely castle and the centre of the village.

Not much not to like.

most of the staff at the reception desk speaks only french. few are speaking good english. Some years ago it was even possible to converse in German.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful personnel, very comfortable and clean hotel. We really enjoyed our couple massage at the spa: it was of high quality. After a hotel booking error, the hotel voluntarily upgraded our room, which was very nice to receive.

The breakfast was ok but a little limited re confiture and the scrambled eggs, when replenished after 15 minutes, were a bit rubbery.

The rooms are large and comfortable, the TV offers an English news Chanel. The breakfast is quite good.

The restaurant is over priced for what it offers, not particularly good value. The seating for breakfast is far to low, either change the seating or lower the tables.

The Castel Maintenon Hôtel Restaurant & Spa is a large hotel, almost bigger than the small village it is in, offering high standards of service and a surprising array of facilities; in fact, we were sorry not to have been able to stay for another couple of nights. The bedrooms are spacious (although somewhat soulless) and there is a lovely spa, with a large indoor swimming pool, a sauna and plenty of treatments available. The hotel also boasts a beautiful garden and is literally next door to a golf club, if you have time to spare. The main highlight for us, though, were the staff, who were extremely welcome and always ready to help; besides, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant, where the chef accepted to create a delicious vegetarian menu for us and where we were treated to an excellent apéritif and wine. Breakfast was marvellous.

The only negative thing that could be said about this hotel is that it lacks character: it is certainly perfect for people who attend business or professional events, but it could use some redecorating to make at least the reception areas less impersonal. As I mentioned above, the friendly staff and the excellent cuisine more than make up for this though.
