Hotel D'Ostende

The hotel had everything you would expect from a 2 star hotel, so I was not disappointed at all. The room was big, the bed had a nice size, I also liked the big windows and the fact that there was a hairdryer in the bathroom. Also, it is placed close to the train station and tram stations. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

I think there is room for improvement for sure: - the room could use a little bit of renovation, - the towels had some stains (I am sure they were washed but it is not nice to have towels with stains) - and our room was next door to a stuff room I think, and I was woken up every morning before 8 AM by (I am guessing) very loud cleaning ladies

Hotel has 24 hour desk - didn't need it but always reassuring should you need it. Staff friendly and welcoming. Hotel is a short walk from the tram line. Metro very good in Nice - took me time to get used to the fact you need to go to a separate location to change lines but easily done. Room very comfortable and a good size. Not far from the main railway station - a short walk only (about 5-10 minutes). Plenty of restaurants and takeaways close by so you won't go hungry. Supermarket near the railway station as well and so useful for those extra bits you always seem to need. I found Nice a really pleasant city to visit and was grateful for the 3 day travel ticket -- which you can use on buses too (which were useful to get to the museums uphill for this old geezer).

It wasn't a problem for me but the lift is very small and so if you were a party or had a lot of luggage you might have to make several trips. Hey, you're in a City so the night time bustle and early morning wakefulness of a city might disturb some people, but it didn't bother me.

Check in was at 3pm. We arrived at 11.30am to ask if we could leave our luggage and come back and check in at 3pm. They said the room was ready and we could check in then at no extra cost which was wonderful. The staff were all very friendly and polite and helpful. This would make me book this hotel again.

The room was in a good location - just a short walk up the main strip and not too far from the train station. The room and bathroom were acceptably clean.

There were some renovations happening when I was there so the hallways were dirty and filled with workers and materials. The room did have a faint smell of cigarette smoke (nothing terrible - very faint). While the room was clean, the floors, walls and linen felt dated and could do with replacing or some touch ups.

Great location . Handy the Nice tram system , literally at the end of the road . Nice Ville station 5 mins walk away. Sobrilliant transport link location. The hotel is a totally adequate standard to explore Nice and surroundings . Transport links on the doorstep for Monaco, Monte Carlo , Eye, Cannes and Antibes. Main train station 5 mins away for main line, TGV and TER . Nice and theSouth of France is wonderful to explore from Hotel d'Ostende and your on a modest budget .

Should have stayed a week !!

Location- so close to everything!

Bathroom would be the only thing needing work. There was no fan to vent out the heat from the shower and it seemed to take forever for the room to dry. Also, not enough room to place towels as towel rack was directly above your head at the toilet and the towels hung down in your face.

It is my 3rd time enjoying the unrivalled hospitality of Hotel d'Ostende. As a hotel professional myself, this hotel is a shining diamond of Nice, France. The staff, both at reception and uphouse are extremely helpful, obliging and seem to work in a very pleasant atmosphere, which clearly permeates and enhances their professionalism. With many further happy memories of the splendid Hotel d'Ostende, I look forward to my return. James Ryan Ireland.

Everything was wonderful.

I had booked a room in Hotel d'Ostende but actually the room was located in the Hotel Amaryllis which is right next to it. A perfect location very near the Nice-Ville railway station about 5 minutes by foot. 15-20 minutes by foot from the Place Massena where there was a lovely Christmas market. Also next to the tram. When taking the tram from the airport (ticket from the ticket machine cost 1,5 euros) the nearest tram stop is Jean Medecin. Very nice and friendly staff. A warm room when switching on the heater on the wall. Warm blanket and comfortable bed and pillow. Lovely view from the French type balcony to a rustic building.

I liked everything.

Honestly, we didn’t stay in hotel described on this page. When we arrived on the address we saw message that hotel is overbooked and that we should check in with into another hotel, few meters down the street. So review will be for that hotel. Staff was nice, check in was fast, rooms were cleaned, and beds were comfortable. Location is great, easy access to train station, easy to get from the airport, many restaurants and stores around hotel. Room was looking on the quiet side of the street.

Nothing special to add here except few notes. Towels were replaced daily, but still they were kind of smelly. Water pressure in the shower is pretty low and at some hours water is not pretty warm, which is frustrating especially during winter months. Additionally, this is something that doesn’t goes as a bad review to the hotel, but other guests were loud and rude during night hours.

The hotel is close (a 5 minute walk) to the Nice Ville Railway Station, close to a tram stop and close to the tram stop to the airport. There is a frequent, direct tram to the airport, taking 30 minutes and costing 1.50 Euros. The room was big enough for an overnight stay, though our room had a very cosy and awkward toilet position. You could do a nice walk to the beach, marina, castle and back.

The bathroom only had room to put the toilet so that you had to sit at an angle with your knees touching a wall.
