Hôtel West End Promenade

Staff were welcoming and helpful - but it was our 6th time at the Hotel! If we keep going back to the same place that often it says a lot about standards being maintained and constantly being improved.

There was some renovation work ongoing on the building facade during our stay, but this did not impact on our enjoyment of the Hotel.

The room was great, amazing view and very spacious. The buffet breakfast was good and the staff were all very friendly. House keeping also did a great job daily with fresh towels supplied!

The shower wasn’t the best, it wasn’t adjustable so you couldn’t angle it down so water went all over the bathroom floor. Extra toilet accessories were also lacking eg, no shampoo or conditioner and hair dryer was old and not powerful at all.

The location of the hotel is outstanding. The soundproofing of the windows were also great (our windows were on the second floor, overlooking the Promenade). The staff is helpful and available. Upon arrival, we have received a bottle of champagne, a bottle of water and some cookies, which is a nice welcoming gift.

The room has only been thorougly cleaned once during our stay. Other than that, no vacuuming has taken place, for example. The room is quite old, and needs refurbishing (e.g. door handles are wiggly, the bathtub is full with scratch marks). You have to take the stairs (6 steps) to reach the lobby, so I had to do a bit of a lifting with the stroller everyday. But, when there were staff available at the premises, they always helped us with it.

Courteous service from Reception. The room was comfortable as was the bed. Breakfast had good variety.

I would NOT recommend dining at the Hotel's Siecle restaurant. The menu was very limited. The roast lamb turned out to be a small lamb shank. But it is unbelieveable how the restaurant can charge over and above the stated price of the meal - an extra service charge of 5 Euros per main course served and 2 Euros surcharge for each drink served, The bill also had an entry for "gratuities". Compared to comparable restaurants in Nice - with a much fuller menus - the Siecle restaurant is inferior.

! Loved this beautiful hotel with a perfect location across the street from the gorgeous French Riviera beach & next to a lovely museum and famous Negresco !hotel too! Our room was unique to say the least but great for my husband and I and our 16 year old! We had the upstairs and he had the couch bed downstairs! Loved the incredible breakfast buffet with the most delicious pecan pastry, fruits, cheeses, smoked salmon and the truly incredible delicious fresh real honey comb from a local honey farm!!! Tons of food but these were my favorites and the fresh spinach too I loved!!! Very helpful kind staff thank you Tessa, Solemea, Ryan, jad and the very sweet smart 17 year old hostess at the breakfast buffet! Great staff all around! We will be back here for sure! Critique would be to remove the shag 1970s carpet in the room if I had a choice!

The staff were excellent from the front desk to the restaurant. Ekaterina and David took great care of us after the restaurant was getting ready to close. We wanted a nightcap and dessert and they made it happen...tableside crepe suzette. Wonderful. I think the concierge's name was Silvio and he was terrific helping us with taxis and excursions. Location was terrific and we had beautiful views.

The room and bathroom were so small. It was almost impossible to hard to find room for suitcases. no way two people could be in the bathroom at once.

This is the best hotel in Nice. We spent hours scouring reviews and various hotels and eventually decided to pay the premium and to stay at Hotel West End. It was the best decision we could have made. It’s certainly the best location, has the best beach and is completely charming. We stayed in a renovated room and it was great for 5 nights. The rooms are good, bathrooms solid but the overall feel of the hotel is classic and captures the best of Nice. If you are looking for glitz/ bling then go elsewhere. But if you are into incredible service, great cleanliness, charm and an intangible energy then this is what you will get at Hotel West End.

The location of the Hotel is perfect, just along the promenade. The stuff were very nice, from bellboys to the receptionists - friendly, helpful, professional. I had a chance to hear them handle a complain from a guest who wasn't happy with his room and although it was very obvious the guest just wanted to get an upgrade without paying for it, they handled it super professionally. Also, bed was comfy.

The furniture and the hotel itself is old, but it is not a negative, since you can clearly see that from the pictures attached.

The location is right on the promenade with a beautiful view to the sea. There was a sports event along the promenade while we stayed and the soundproofing was so good that we did not wake at all when the event (an 'Ironman') began early on the Sunday morning.

A very minor issue: there is air conditioning in the room but it is not very powerful. Although the room had excellent window covers to prevent it heating from the sun it would have been nice to be able to dial up the A/C temporarily. On the whole the average temperature with the A/C on was fine.

I've stayed in almost every hotel on the Promenade des Anglais and I'm always blown away by the beautiful location. I love the city of Nice and have been coming here regularly for at least a few days every year for 30 years! There is a unique combination and concentration of all that is appealing here: the sea, the historic district, the winding narrow, sort of scruffy but cute streets, the larger boulevards, the parks, the nearby towns and places on the stunning coast with excellent transport links...very nice and tolerant people, kind to smokers, no animosity to the sometimes smoldering tourists, carefully tidy streets and beaches after a night of all sorts of fun.

The West End Hotel is strangely the most expensive in the area, at least as far as the standard of room 411 is concerned: it is very small and smells strangely of air conditioning vents. It is "fortunately" so terribly expensive for its low standard that it was therefore perhaps the only one available - with a sea view, given my very late booking. However, I find it rather outrageous that I was charged an additional tourist fee for the last night and day that we did not spend in Nice or in France at all, as we had to cut short our stay for personal reasons and fly out a night and a day earlier. Of course, I paid the price for the entire length of the accommodation. You may be following some internal regulation, but the actual and fair logic of this procedure is completely lacking.
