The Elgin, Darjeeling - Heritage Resort & Spa

The location is good and short walk to the city centre. The staff is extremely helpful. We booked our airport cabs also via the hotel and it was a good experience. One of the receptionist's father was our cab driver for sight seeing (WagonR no 5153). I was traveling with my daughter and uncle was a supersafe and very helpful driver. The hotel does not serve water in plastic packaged water bottles which I loved. You get the Darjeeling valley view from the room. I loved the well-maintained colonial architecture of the hotel since the British Era. No lift only stairs, wooden floors, a vintage lobby and an old colonial post box at the entrance just added to the charm. Their breakfast staff is very patient as we saw a family driving them nuts every morning with their constant follow-up on their orders (literally every 30 secs) yet the staff would keep working and meet their demands.

Being from Mumbai I was hoping to eat some local fish but all the fish in the menu was only basa fish. Also some local dish of Darjeeling should be added for tourists who want to taste authentic culture... although we did that outside then :) as such no complaints.

This is a heritage property located in the prime location of Darjeeling. The mall road is very close to this property and shops and restaurants are at walkable distance . The staff is very polite and friendly . The breakfast was superb especially tea and coffee. Overall I would highly recommend this place who would like to pamper themselves on a holiday .

The main doors and the bathroom doors of the suite rooms have small holes which could have been repaired.

Colonial style hotel close to the heart of Darjeeling. Pleasant and helpful staff. Food was good (buffet in the evenings) and good willing service overall

I had no concerns. It did get a little cold as the mist was down but someone was on hand to turn up the radiator and (rather charmingly) provide a hot water bottle to warm the bed

We, stayed at the 'New Tenzing Norgay Wing'. Like all Elgin Group hotels, it has 'old world charm' of a bygone era of gracious living.. the location is just below the Mall Road and Chowrasta. Brisk walk up of 5 mins and you are in Chowrasta, the hub of Darjeeling.

the selection at the b'fast buffet is limited. Few more items need to be introduced to have a good spread..(a wholesome English B'fast). That, would compliment with the decor and ambiance of the place.

Clean and comfortable rooms in a heritage property, very close to the center of Darjeeling but still quiet and secluded, wonderful staff, this hotel had it all. When we wanted an off-menu dish for dinner the staff obliged.

The wifi was passable, but I wished could have been better. The hotel views are away from Kanchenjunga, although the lovely view of Darjeeling goes a long way towards compensating for this loss.

this property was so so beautifully done up we didn’t want to leave our rooms. The service was incredible - we were given everything we needed. such hospitable and warm waiters. the rooms are plush and well maintained and the colour schemes are tastefully designed. can’t stress enough the excellent vibes we got from the Elgin! i wanted an espresso martini which they didn’t have on their menu - I told the waiter the ingredients and the procedure and he made me a fantastic one so do order that if you stay with them. last but not the least, the most friendly and adorable Labrador Casper stays at the elgin and he made our stay an absolute delight ❤️

we loved the staff and this started right at the reception when we we were greeted by Mirza and he was super cordial, courteous and helped us with an early check in at their premium cottage. the property is fantastic with all amenities at your beck and call. whether one needs to indulge in recreational activities or just soak in the beauty of the nature. the food was great and the service was par excellence with Shailendra and Gopalan ( if I’m getting the name correctly as he was single handed my managing the bar during Diwali)

The Elgin is a beautiful property, very green and with a quaint English feel. We were 7 of us, and there were quite a few common areas where we could all comfortably sit together to eat, drink and play board games. It was especially lovely to sit in the outdoor area by a swing, sipping coffee with the rain falling around us. The staff was super, super courteous and went out of their way to serve us (especially Ashok). I stayed here once before in 2009 and even after a decade, this is the property I would most recommend in Darjeeling :)

Heritage feel. It was cosy returning after days out. Fires were lit and hot water bottles given at bed time.

It was a little cold at times, I had spa treatment and room was cold.

Location and heritage look of the hotel was awesome. Stay was really comfortable.

They should improve upon food. Breakfast was not of adequate variety. Also menu options available are very less. If they can improve on food they should be rated 5 star.
