Ethnotel, Kolkata Airport

It was family friendly and staff were supoer friendly and courteous. I really enjoyed dinning there and having a couple beers in the bar by the second floor. Super close to the airport which was what I needed. Standards were high enough, I refused going to cheaper places because I needed somewhere safe and clean for my family, and they met my expectations for having spent that extra buck.

Not much to do around, it didnt bother me because all I wanted was a clean and comfortable bed to change flights between days. I had a stroll around, I was back in reception in less than 10 minutes. No biggie.

I stayed at the Ethnotel four different times during my most recent trip to this area of Asia. Because its location is so convenient to the Kolkata Airport, it worked brilliantly as a hub to come back and forth to. The great hotel staff were easy to communicate with, always helpful, and exceptionally kind. A special shoutout to Mr Joy, the hotel driver, who was always able to spot me at the curb for the airport to hotel transfers. Although technically across the street from airport, this isn't anything you'd want to walk since the road is pretty circuitous. You need to arrange a transfer. My rooms were always immaculately clean with strong a/c and good plumbing. Decor wise, yes, the rooms perhaps need to be updated, but the price is right and everything worked. No complaints whatsoever. Room service was good as well as the buffet breakfast in the dining room. I was pleased with everything and everyone here!

The hotel is very well situated, only 20min walk to the airport/5min by taxi. Its likely the best hotel close to the airport, good price for value for foreigners especially. The room/bathroom were very clean. Not much to do around but its perfect for overnight stay between flights. The restaurant had also a large menu and we could find vegan options (in menu and on request) for dinner and breakfast. We also had a special menu and a beautiful free cake for Valentine's Day. Comfy beds, ample pillows of the right firmness. The front office manager & reception were excellent - attentive, helpful and quick. Well done! Breakfast was tasty and the restaurant/floor manager was efficient too. Newspapers provided at the door in the morning.

There were not many people (7 including us) yet the restaurant staff were not attentive. We had to ask for coffee thrice. Food was not replenished. It took the poor floor manager to nudge them repeatedly.

The staff were unbelieveably friendly. My luggage was carried in from the taxi, I was given a glass of lemonade whilst checking in and everyone was so friendly. It's a couple of minutes taxi drive to the airport terminal and the hotel arranges the taxi.

I can't fault this hotel. Hotels in India are different from european hotels and whilst they may not have as many facilities, the welcome and friendliness is amongst the best I have ever experienced

After having an issue with Indian customs with our baggage (they took our bags) we needed to stay close by to the airport to be able to retrieve them before traveling to our destination. We stayed here for two days while waiting. Grateful for a 24/7 restaurant that provided food. Nothing overly flashy but it provided exactly what we needed for a couple days before we got our bags back.

Not a fault of their own, but my first time in India... hotel is on major road and given Indian driving styles, you'll hear car horns honking all night long. Good luck sleeping.

Front desk staff Miss Vaishali and Mr. Kaushik was very helpful. The amazing service they gave my family and the hospitality they showed towards my family was outstanding. My wife was sick and she was unable to walk. I called them for a wheel chair before entering the property and they even arranged it for me. Didn’t even hesitate and didn’t even ask a single question. Also i would love to appreciate Mr. Avijeet who helped me with the wheel chair to assist me and my wife to the room. Once again great hospitality showed and Kudos to their efforts. Thank you guyz you helped me alot that day.

We came to the hotel straight from Burdwan and everything was fine as planned from 17th April to 21st April. All the staff was good and the Laundry Man, Mr Prakriti Mandal was excellent in providing his services to us. The staff in the restaurant, Mr. Niladri was also very much helpful in selecting the different dishes and presenting it to us.

The house keeping team was very good and kept the room tidy with refilling of the water bottles, tea, coffee etc. Although the Dumdum area is infested with mosquitoes, there was no mosquito in the room. The breakfast was awesome and staffs were eager to provide fresh egg omelettes, parathas etc. beside buffet items kept on the table. Food quality and taste was awesome. The bar Ethos was also good. The reception staffs were very kind for any request. I found that they accepted AMEX. I request the hotel to have a motorized show polish machine near reception and a towel hanger near bath area..

Although it is very close to the Airport (10 mins), yet most of the cars demand exorbitant rate to reach there. I requested for early check-in and airport transfer during the booking through the booking.com site while the hotel replied that request could not be made but the staff may check after arrival only. I reached around 11:10 AM and had to wait for 20 mins before second request for check-in. The food was really good but the rate was higher and same as the food rate in Mumbai. I was surprised as Kolkata is cheaper than Mumbai. They could fix the rate separated for individual and conference.

The location is near to the airport and airport pick up service.

The foods need to be improved. Even after requesting spice-free foods for the baby, they did not provide them. However, the booking staff agreed the request.
