Novotel Kolkata Hotel and Residences

We had booked a stay for 5 nights @ Novotel Kolkata for my brother’s wedding. After an unpleasant experience with the room’s cleanliness & response from the night staff on the first night, we had shared our feedback through TripAdvisor. From day 2 onwards, I must say that the novotel managers looked into the matter and ensured a pleasant stay for the rest of the 4 nights so that I could focus on the wedding. I must appreciate all the efforts put in by Chandrani & Poonam. Special mention to the floor hospitality lead - Sushmita & team as well. (Reminds me of Arjun’s leadership from his courtyard days). Although the unpleasant beginnings, All’s well that ends well.  Overall, I would consider Novotel for my next visit and a few consistent experiences like this may make me consider them with my favorites of ITC & Marriott. I appreciate their hospitality and as my 2 cents would encourage them to deliver this outstanding service from day 1 and improve the night shift’s performance.

Night Shift Efficiency,avoid check-in during night

Whatever we have mentioned in our stay duration that everything we got. Bhaskar from the square coffee shop was excellent , he did his job with perfection. We got drink voucher as welcome drink from front office that we have masala tea and coffee, which we enjoyed very much.Thank you pinky. Evening amminities Sandesh platter was made our day.

The square - at the the time of breakfast we are not happy with the food and Breakfast spreads. Half an hour we waited for Sunnyside up, egg Benedict and masala Dosa, after when food came it was cold and stiff. Food and service was not up to the mark.

Mr. Ibrahim from front desk was very professional, taken hassel free check in of ours. He fulfill our all request. Mr. RAJDEEP from "The Square" was excellent, he did very good service👍. For this excellent service from him we will visit very soon. Thank you

Room service lady order taker need lots of training about guest handling. She is very rude amongst guests directly said NO towards us. Also we ordered for 1ready-made coffee with 2cups, the lady firstly said NO ready-made coffee is not possible after that she said extra cup is inside room minibar. Very disappointing this.

Overall We had a good stay for our anniversary night with some good memories... Below listed some pro and cons.. Pros 1. They decorated our bed very nicely with flowers and provided us with a delicious complimentary cake which made us feel very special. 2. We had a very nice view of the city. Superb Scenario. 3. Rooms were neat n clean 4. Their checkin checkout process was smooth. Didn't take much time although there were huge rush 5. Room was superbly silent. 6. We had buffet breakfast.. This was pretty awesome, they had really a large range of foods. And most of them were very tasty n delicious.

Cons 1. Room was very cold.. Even trying to increase the temperature didn't seem to work. 2. Wifi seemed slower. During video call it was lagging on wifi. TV channel selection was also limited. Though these were not that much of an issue for us as mobile network worked fine. 3. We found a small cockroach in the wall curtain in the room which is honestly little unexpected and disappointing for such a big brand.

Location, Lobby of the hotel, Swimming pool and various restaurants at the property are nice. Overall, Staff is very nice and courteous and caring. Especially, Shubam at the pool side and entertainer Sam

1. Cleanliness is an issue with the furniture in the property. For e.g. some of the furniture in the rooms and restaurants have stains on them. 2. Payment Options: While checking in I was made to block a certain amount on my (international) Credit Card which was fine but my preference was to pay the final bill by a debit card at the time of check out. I was told that the blocked amount will be unblocked at the time of check-out and I can pay with whatever mode I prefer. However, due to some technological issues, the blocked amount couldn't be unblocked and I was charged on the credit card and thus incurring more fees on Foreign exchange which I have to now pay to the credit card company. If you don't prefer having international credit card, kindly let us know from next time.

Front office- Ms Chandrani was kind hearted she provided late check out, Sandesh platter as welcome amminities, end of our travel she give us chocolates which was delicious so nice of you. Room dining- Shailen was great he provided breakfast in room which was part of package. All of them are very good but one of employee in blue tokai name ANUPAM was excellent,,bestest employee in Novotel very helpful he knows his job perfectly.

THE SQUARE- Service was poor, Ms. Arpita is in lost world, didn't attend our table, doesn't pour water, she is very unhelpful, doesn't matter what guests wants, but in another side she is gossiping with colleagues and managers, what type of Service is this is 5star.

Front office lady guest relation Manager whom we spoken forget the name, she made us late check out at 3pm Thank you for a pleasant and sweet behaviour. Room dining employee Mr. Neel provide breakfast in room which was part of our package in restaurant buffet we are not feeling well for that reason we have ask for that Mr Neel taken extra care and given food exactly which we have ordered followed by accompaniments. Thank you so much Mr. NEEL Blue Tokai employee Mr. Anupam serve us a cappuccino and pastry and taken extra care of us, very welcoming gesture, polite nature, warm behaviour, very much professional about his work. we definitely visit again in blue tokai as soon as possible.

Tax part- 18% gst is fine everybody welknowned about this,but after that 5% service tax again gst on service tax in room dining which was unknown for everybody. please take immediate action by hotel authority and Mr.GM on this matter..

Perfect from every aspect. Room quality, dimensions, ambiance, washroom, room products like bed sheets, towels, the staffs and management, everything is so perfect

The AC temperature takes long time to change. If you want to change the temperature from 21 to 25 let’s say, the temperature doesn’t change with immediate effect like our home AC, it takes around 20 minutes to go to the temperature that we set. So till that time we were freezing. Management should take care of the technical concern of the AC system

Great property, nice big rooms and comfortable beds. The staff were all very helpful and accommodative. The lobby bar was a nice place to hang out after a long day.

The mosquitos. Though the hotel tries its best to keep the mosquitos at bay they do come in and make it a little annoying to enjoy the facilities in the lobby.

So clean, comfortable, and very nice washroom. The Staffs are well trained. And best thing is the excellent location, you find a very large and one of the most famous mall (axis Mall). The Environment inside and outside the hotel is so chaotic and luxurious

Checkin time is too slow, it takes about half an hour. Never think that you go around 2:00 pm and you find your room within minutes. Price is too expensive according to the room. Overall wonderful experience 😊
