San Max Hotel

Good location, big room, if there is not any renovation , the room is silent.

Breakfast needs improvement, at the inferior level was renovation, they made big noise.

I liked the positioning of the hotel, it was very central and close to buses, city center and shopping street. The staff was super nice & friendly (with the exception of one single lady..). I appreciated very much their concern for nature and their eco-oriented vibe - recycling, good recipients for shampoo and soap, etc.. The pool was also very nice, clean and all was friendly.

The breakfast could be a bit better and the room where it was held was quite small. Also, there was one lady with a ponytail, for the majority of our breakfast times, that was really not smiling, welcoming and not in the mood to have any guests.. the only time she was happy was when somebody (an Italian man) came to visit her. Definitely made us not feeling welcome at breakfast..

The staff could not be more helpful. We changed from another hotel, and they were very accommodating and understanding. Breakfast is simple but nice. Our room was very spacious if a little dated. The pool area is nice with plenty of sun loungers. The hotel is located in the centre of Catania where you can find so many lovely places to eat.

The hotel is undergoing some pretty major renovation and because of this there is a little noise and there was a considerable amount of rubbish outside our window. Hopefully, this will all go and the view improved when renovations are finished.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Also very informative about the area that we were staying in and giving good tips. The breakfast might not be everyones cup of tea but for my partner and I it was more than enough (you get coffee/tea, juices, yoghurt, fresh baked goods, fruits, cake, toast, ham cheese, cornflakes,...). Also the pool was very nice to relax in. Just be aware that the neighbor houses can see you in the pool but it didn't bother us. .

This is not a complaint just one thing we didn't understand was the necessity to wear a swimming cap on your head in the pool. I understand it about keeping the pool clean of course, but my boyfriend has a really long beard so it didn't really make sense in that way. Otherwise no complaints.

It's in via etna close to the market the room was large and super clean and comfortable .very friendly and help full staff they are always with a smile ready to help you especially Jessica the reception. . Next to the hotel there's also bus stop so it easy to travel it just 10 mins far from st agate Church I will go again for sure we had a good stay only one thing they should have a kettle's in rooms everything was perfect

We had a fabulous time staying here, it was a great base to explore the city! The hotel is situated on the main road with bars, restaurants, shops and so much more! The hotel room was a good size with a good sized shower! The hotel is trying to be environmentally conscious and has notes about towels and hand soaps (which we liked). The bed was huge and very comfy! Serviced every day during our stay! The air conditioning was superb and we definitely needed it during our stay!! The pool was exceptionally clean and I can understand why you pay for it! You get towels and a swim cap from reception and to be truthful I was a little shocked about the hat but it was actually quite good (it’s soft and not a rubber one). The best part about the hotel was the staff, every member was friendly, kind and helpful! In reception you can help yourself to tea and coffee (it’s free) but when we went down it was so nice to chat to the staff-they seemed genuinely interested to chat. Breakfast was good, savoury and sweet and as much tea/coffee/juices as you wanted! They’re was always plenty of choice! We felt totally relaxed staying here and cannot fault any member of staff for their professionalism and kindness!

The pool You can’t use it unless you pay €10 a day . Who does this ? What a joke . This should be made much clearer before booking . It’s not clear and the first time I have encountered this . I booked this hotel specifically cause it had a pool . You need to make that super clear in big CAPITAL LETTERS AS ITS BOT NORMAL

The Workers & the boss are really friendly and professional. They are the best I ever found. If you call them they solve your problem or issue straight a away. I order a pizza and ask to the reception to have an eye on it.. I went to pick it up and the receptionist called me to apologise to not have seeing my pizza arrive.. I went downstairs to pick it up to not bother him but still they are so cute that they call you and check on you every time. Best service ever, great team. Rooms are huge and clean.

Water takes 2 minutes to warm when you are in the shower.. looks like a eternity when you are cold lol.. and blow drier as well. The bed ligths should be modified to integrate the bed with a easy switch to turn off.. they were far away from my hands when I felt a sleep

Receptionist were great hosts, friendly and helped us a lot with city information, activities, restaurants, etc., location of the hotel is great, it is located on the one of the main roads and to the main sightseeings it is far 10-15 minutes by foot. Rooms and whole hotel were really clean. Breakfast was also okay and is open until 10 (coffee, tea, juices, sweet/ salty breakfast).

Unfortunately in the morning or in the night you can hear people walking and talking from the corridor, sound isolation is not the best.

Perfect location in the center of Catania. Modern rooms and lovely view out from the balcony onto the street, but the room was very quiet. The pool is clean, a lovely urban retreat.

This weren't the firmest mattresses on our single beds but we still had a good sleep. Be aware that the pool costs 10 pound a day, so don't just assume the usage is for free. In your room options, when you book, it will say whether you have the pool included or not. We were a little surprised as this was the reason why we booked this hotel. However the staff was so friendly and let us use the pool for free one afternoon. Don't be late for breakfast otherwise there won't be much choice left, however in the morning there are always fresh baked goods, sweet and savoury, available.
