Located about a 15min walk from the centre of Palermo. Mario is such a friendly host and will happily answer any questions you have about your stay or Palermo. He has a load of stories to tell and has certainly lived a full life. We even went out for dinner together on my first night there and he pointed me in the right direction for the rest of my stay. Mario will also prepare breakfast for you each day if you would like or you can make your own. The bed and facilities were basic but everything worked well and I actually loved that it had a bit of a Bohemian/lived in feel to it.

The only downside I would say and this is no fault to Mario at all. The area where the building is, is a little dirty and after dark it's not very well lit which may confuse some people especially if you don't know where you're going.

Mario is an amazing host. He went out of my way to make me feel welcome and even took me around Palermo to show me the sights! We had dinner together! Mario was amazing and even repaired my suitcase for me which a wheel had come off. He has amazing local knowledge. The room was perfect and the lift very easy once he carefully explained to me how to use it. Mario was very helpful in assisting me to arrange tours. The room is decorated with local homely culture and decorations. The wifi is excellent as is the hot water and breakfast. Thank you Mario for an amazing stay the past 5 nights and I hope to see you again in New Zealand or perhaps Brazil.

Stuff was super kind, helpful, and responsive. Location is very strategic. You’re 15 min walk away from train station and via maqueda. Even closer to Ballaro’ market.

If i have to be picky, the accommodation got pretty hot. While air conditioning came to the rescue in the bedroom, i couldn’t do much about it in the bathroom. In their defence, i was there in July during a heat wave so that didn’t help!

I absolutely loved Stella Maris. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and incredibly clean. The private balcony was lovely and Mario’s breakfast was delicious! All the toiletries you need are provided and the fridge is also fully stocked should you ever need a drink or a snack. Mario is an incredible host and easily the best part of my stay - he was full of great advice and suggestions and took me out around the market and we had lunch together. A lovely guy with lots of stories to tell! Definitely would love to stay here again!

I really enjoyed spending a week in Palermo being accommodated here. Communication with Ivan is very easy as he speaks english as well and he is available on the whatsapp, willing to help in any case. The room and bathroom were very clean and nice. Spot is close to the city centre, but quite quiet during the night.

The host Mario made our stay in Palermo special. Mario just knows how to make you excited about visiting his city, gavr us lots of tips which helped to enjoy our time in Palermo and made us want to come back. The accommodation is in a classic Palermo apartment building, an actual home (not a hotel set up). Our room had amazing terace overlooking the city. Bathroom was detached but it worked juat fine. Breakfast was prepared by Mario and was the best out of all our stays in Sicily. If you are looking for true local experience and Sicilian hospitaly, this is the place to stay.

Mario and his partner were very kind and open to sharing their home with me. I was provided with a very detailed map and listing of restaurants in Palermo and was shown what sights to have a look at. There was coffee and fruit on arrival and the balcony off of my room was lovely with a cool breeze and shade. The kitchen was mine to use and there were different types of fruit and cheese, bread, spreads, juices at my disposal. Overall, a unique and quirky (and great!) place to stay. I just wish I'd had more time to spend in Palermo.

Nice location, close to central station, palace, cathedral, cappucin crypt. I walked everywhere pretty much. Cool elevator. Air conditioning, great advice from the hosts. I immideatly felt at home. Would reccomend.

To no fault of the accommodation or host, the area is noisy at night. But that is Palermo.. :)

Owner - frankly speaking I haven't met anyone like this (and I travel quite a lot) - nice, talkative, helpful, eager to give You some advices about spending time in Palermo and choosing the right trattoria, very open-minded with good English. Apart from that good location in the center (10 min on foot to bus and train station)

Mario the host provided fantastic service, available at all times to answer questions, give advice and cook you food. Very personable and with a hundred interesting stories to tell. The apartment itself was clean, great value for money and within walking distance of the city centre.

The building is a bit old fashioned, however this is also part of the appeal.
