Hotel Alfonso A Mare

- Room: spacious, beautiful, clean - Location: great, next to the main road, has free parking outside - Breakfast: room is beautiful with sea view, breakfast is decent - Room has mini fridge

If you go with your expectations adjusted, you won't be disappointed. Some things: - 45€ for 2 beach chairs + umbrella - is lacking an information sheet on the room (with WiFi password, breakfast hours, number to call reception, etc)

This place exceeded our expectations. The location, sea taxi from the beach to Positano, the views and the restaurant was amazing. The room was not the most modern, but it was spacious and clean, very good shower. We had a lovely stay. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

The location is right against the beautiful Marina di Praia beach, and the cove is incredibly beautiful and a satisfying place to stay. Additionally, the room decor was gorgeous and the bathroom was large and very clean. There was a wardrobe big enough for us to tuck away our backpacking gear, and we felt very at home in the space.

I recommend that you bring bug spray to the hotel. We found multiple mosquitos in our room and woke up with bug bites, even though we had the window and door closed at all times. Something else that is pretty common but still kind of shady is that you don't have a discount on the beach chairs operated by the hotel, so be prepared to spend 35 euros on a pair of chairs. Additionally, it would be great if the hotel could run shuttles to drop off travelers with bags at the top of the hill where the bus stops, because it's a 200 meter walk straight down into the cove from the cliffside highway. Travelers with mobility issues be careful. Personally, we enjoyed hiking into town from the pathways, but as always in Amalfi: be ready to climb scores of stairs.

The rooms were very clean and kept after well. The employees were all very kind and incredibly helpful. They would answer any question without any issue. The breakfast that came with the room was really good too.

The dinner was absolutely awful. I’ve never had food that I could say that I do not want to eat. I’ve always wondered why people said that they couldn’t eat something because it was so bad, but that’s how the dinner was. I payed 80 euro for food that was almost inedible. It’s not a 5 star restaurant or even hotel, so why are you trying to serve food like it is? I got a leaf and raw shrimp for 30 euro. That is insane to me.

Lovely hotel, with its own beach, we came from Positano, so it was nice to find this hotel, it was quieter with an amazing beach, the sea is so clear. The hotel staff are super helpful, IIlaria, on front desk was the best, so kind, she made sure that everything we needed was there, she arranged everything, lovely person. If your coming from Positano, or nearby get a water taxi to this hotel, its much easier than a taxi and cheaper and faster. This hotel is listed as 3 star but I think its 4 star. Breakfast is healthy and simple but all you need, but the lunch and dinner is very good (fish and chips are excellent) and theres 2-3 food places all around you. A lovely quiet charming hotel.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, hotel was perfectly placed, right in the marina at Praiano. The breakfast was also very good.

The hotel owned a large portion of the cove beach in front of it with many chairs and umbrellas. They charge 50 euros for all-day access for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella. I found it surprising that hotel guests are not given access to these chairs for free. Guests are extended a 10% discount, making access (a still overpriced) 45 euros. While there for 2 days I never saw more than a few of the 30-40 chairs occupied, so it seems silly to not offer free access as a hotel perk.

Honestly, this was probably my favorite stay after visiting all around Italy. Not only was the location PERFECT for a nice relaxing stay, the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Any questions or requests we had were granted with a happy smile on the staffs face (Ilaria was our favorite!). We even had a super early departure and because of this we were going to miss our complimentary breakfast. The staff went above and beyond to offer us sandwiches, apple juice, and two of each pastry that they have the night before so we had something to eat the morning of our travels. I could not recommend this hotel more. We will absolutely be returning to the Alfonso A Mare in the future. I wish we had more time there!

Great location , beach front with a number of restaurants next door . The ease of getting 15min water taxis over to Positano for the day and being able to escape all the crowds that Positano has . We did day trips and came back in the afternoons . Really nice and clean .

Breakfast was very average - I feel this could be great accom if the breakfast was improved . We didn’t eat at the accomodations restaurant for dinner because of this reason, it didn’t give us much hope the dinner would be any good if the breakfast was that average . One morning eggs had run out at 9am and when we approached staff if they were going to do anymore they said no - interesting considering breakfast goes until 10am. We also noticed once fruit was finished this was not re stocked etc . Not a biggy but it probably the let down of the stay .

The hotel Alfonso was great! The staff were very friendly, the rooms were nice, the food for breakfast had a lot of variety. They also offered you a discounted price for the sun loungers on the beach which is great. The only thing I could fault is the location… There was a bus stop not far from the hotel. But if you come to Praiano to go to the beach and relax, the locations perfect how ever if you want to go into the main part of Praiano it’s quite a big walk uphill if you don’t take the bus.

Location is amazing !! Felt blessed here with great accommodation and so quiet compared to busy neighbouring villages.Right on the beach within walking distance of small grocery shops. Swam each morning with the locals. Breakfast was great also. Staff were also very friendly and helpful especially the young lady who checked us in and the lady who cleaned our room each day and the young lady who made us coffee snd tea each morning. Absolutely loved our stay here and we were sad to leave.
