Residence Antares

We liked the location because we were in the residences on the back side of the property and not on the main drag where it was quiet. We were also near a grocery store and we were able to follow our own schedule. It was economical for us. We were close to the lifts which we used for hiking in the summer. The staff at the hotel treated us nicely even if we were in the residences.

i didn’t realize that we wouldn’t get the same cleaning support as you fo in a hotel. They said they would change the sheets every 4 days ( we were there 10 days) but there was a communication problem. They gave us new sheets but we were expected to change them ourselves. I don’t change my own at home due to a disability so that miffed me. They would exchange the sheets but not change the beds for us. But i figured out this miscommunication and all was well. At that point they offered to change them but i just declined. The sheets were not dirty anyway. I sort of liked not having to deal with a cleaning crew constantly.

Selva val di Gardena is well equiped with numerous self-contained apartments for the winter ski season so there is a lot to choose from. There are local buses that travel up and down the valley and these are free if the hotel is affiliated to the tourism body. Our 2-bedroom apartment had generous spaces with two large bedrooms, a large bathroom with great shower over a spa bath, kitchen facilities for self-catering, and dining area plus a lounge seating area. Beds were very comfy. Free fast wifi included. There was also a swimming pool and spa, gym, restaurant and bar facilities, plus car parking. Check in at Reception was straight forward. We would definitely stay here again.

The building also had a laundry area, but only one washing machine and dryer, so there was always a wait to use these facilities – it would be worse in winter. Charging for our hybrid car was Euro30 per time.

The location is perfect, close to the mountains we wanted to see. Supermarkets and restaurants walking distance. A quaint coffee shop across called Mozart cafe. They have parking in the garage which was helpful as parking is a bit tricky. They do offer a weeks free bus pass which we didn't use as we had a car. The hotel itself is modern and fancy. The rooms are suitable for us, we had a small kitchen too. My husband used the gym everyday although quite small and lacking some weights, he made do. We enjoyed the swimming pool. There's an inside and outdoor sauna which we didn't get to use due to time. From reviews it sounds like we missed out not booking breakfast but definitely would book next time we stay. We highly recommend Hotel Antares.

Friendly and very helpful staff - gave good advice and supplied free local bus tickets. Large well-equipped room with balcony. Indoor swimming pool.

Easy to get lost! Only one room key for a couple - lights and electricity dependant on key, also to move around various areas of hotel complex. So if one of couple left the room, the other left without lights and electricity and also no ability to move independently around building. Booking.com stated a microwave would be supplied on request - but did not mention a charge. One bedside light not working, the other had old bulbs which meant burnt fingers if adjusting position. Safe did not work i.a.w. instructions, scraper needed for hob, a/c seemed un-adjustable (no instructions).

Reception: Very friendly stuff, explained everything in details. We were also allowed to stay in the lounge to wait for the bus even after checked out. Much appreciated. We also received a cup with Dolomites prints on it as a gift, sweet. Cleanness: everything was very clean and easy to use, shampoo condition and shower gel available for use, towels and duvet clean too. Facilities: kitchen wares are available and clean Location: 5 mins walking to two bakery stores, 4 minutes to bus stop, 20 minutes bus to Ortesei. Not as busy as Ortesei was another attraction to us.

We appreciated this spacious, clean, comfortable residence which had a well-equipped kitchen and big balcony with mountain and forest views. The hotel was able to hold our luggage before the room was ready and after check out so we could continue to sightsee. Free parking. Walking distance to the center of town. Very professional and kind staff!! Also, there is a pool here - looked fun, but our teens weren't into it; saw younger kids in there. Very hip yet family-friendly place.

The layout of the hotel is a bit confusing, but just patiently keep working at it and eventually, you'll get oriented. This was an excellent three-night stay!

The residence was in an excellent location, 2 mins from the local Spar supermarket and also 2 mins from the Cianmpinoi lift, which is the main gondola in Selva. The room was very modern, with a well renovated bathroom and kitchen area.

The layout of the residence is quite convoluted, to go from our room at the top of B to the Spa requires a few stairs up and down, but overall very little negative to say, we had a great stay. Would recommend to others.

Great location in a beautiful town. Easy access to hikes and main attractions. A balcony has some mountain view and sees the church in the town. Restaurant is also nice, and not expensive. The kitchen is small but functional. Free bus ticket (though we did not use).

Though did not bother us much, there is no daily room service. I suppose it is per request. We did not have room service in our 4-day stay. It will be nice to share an instruction where to throw the garbage. :)

We had a one bedroom apartment for myself, my husband, and two adult children. All beds were comfortable. The small kitchen worked great for easy meals. We purchased most food down the mountain and brought it with us, but there was easy access to a Despar in town and prices were too outrageous. Parking at the site was very nice and at no extra cost. It was a parking garage. There was a locker for our skis and boots that included a ski boot heater. (Warm feet!) There was a pool but we didn't have our swimsuits and so didn't check it out. There was also a treadmill that we used and liked. Because of Covid, both of those had to be reserved and had an extra cost. Selva di Val Gardena was a nice town, but we drove the short distance to Ortisei where we enjoyed walking around and exploring more. Ortisei also had more gelato places (we love gelato any time of year!). Prices at restaurants were not outrageous. They really weren't much more than going out to eat in restaurants in the US. Across the street from the Residence Altares was a cafe called Cafe Mozart that had a lot of yummy cakes to choose from! Skiing was great. We were there on an Ikon pass and so had access to the Superski area. We really enjoyed skiing all over. We would just ski the Sellaronda route around to the area we wanted to ski for the day and then ski back. Driving would've been long with lots of switchbacks. I don't know as I would've liked being limited to the Selva di Val Gardena ski area. Though it looks like it would be great with young kids. We did ski the Corvara area and that would be a really great area for young kids and early skiers. I also liked that our apartment was very close to the ski lifts. It was an easy walk to the lifts even though we were in ski boots. We also really liked all of the "mom and pop" owned restaurants all over the mountains. Had some great hot chocolate at the very top of Belvedere.

Can't really think of anything bad about the Residence Antares. One thing that no one has control of....We skied at the end of March. With only a 16" base, I was really worried that we would be skiing on rocks. But there were no rocks. (yay!) The snow was not great. In the morning, the snow was kind of icy and then and it would get very slushy by the end of the day. The resorts did a great job of conserving snow (since it was not a great snow year) and having snow to ski on when there really wasn't snow in town or on other areas of the mountains. So I like sking on great snow (which they didn't have any) and don't enjoy skiing on the slushy snow. But that is personal preference. Even with the "bad snow", we still really enjoyed skiing! It was just more challenging.

A lovely place to stay! Staff was welcoming and helpful and the room was very comfortable with a little patio outside our door. There was a tiny kitchenette which convenient to have. A great breakfast buffet! Parking is super convenient. The location was perfect for our exploration of Val di Gardena. Steps from the cable car and only a 20 minute drive to Ortisei for the cable car up to Alpe di Suisi.

not a big deal but you need to book a time for the pool. It’s tiny but lovely.
