Kobe Tor Road Hotel Sanraku

Love this hotel. Some people have reviewed and said that it is very tired and old fashioned. For us this did not matter. It gave it charm after many characterless modern hotels we stayed in while in Japan. It was clean and comfortable. Most importantly, the room was large, we had space both sides of the bed, bedside cabinets, plenty of room to move around and a large wardrobe, luxury for the price paid. The breakfast was very good and the staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Would highly recommend.

There was nothing to dislike.

The hotel had excellent service, including accommodating my Jewish Sabbath observance. The hotel design is very nice, and the rooms were quiet, spacious, pretty, and comfortable. The location is also excellent, close to Sannomiya Station. Finally, at least for the nights I booked, the hotel was a great value.

The bathroom seemed very plain, and I could even see mold growing in between the floor tiling.

The location was ideal. Close to Sannomiya and Motomachi station. The deluxe twin room was huge with a large closet and plenty of space in the vanity area. The house keeping staff was excellent. I loved the daily supply of washed and pressed blue checked pajamas they gave us every night. Was great returning to the room after a long day if shoppung and sight seeing. It felt like home. The reception desk was cheerful and greeted us with a smile each time we interacted with them. There was a convenient drycleaner 2 minutes away from the hotel. There was also a coin laundry that charged 700-1000 yen to wash and dry clothes dependeing on the size of the load. There were two convenience stores right by the hotel- Lawsons and 7-11store. I cant praise this hotel enough and would stay there again and again.

The wifi was not strong enough.

The location is quite good, although it's on a light slope which is a bit hard for heavy luggage case. The hotel is a bit ancient European style, It is lovely for us. Look like some facilities are a bit old, but all the basic needs for a stay are fulfilled. Although there is not so many choices, the breakfast buffet of the hotel is nice! I love the seafood salad, and the coffee too!

The toilet seat was with some dirt when we get in, that we need to clean them by ourselves.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kobe Tor Road Hotel Sanraku. The hotel is British themed and is quite classic themed (think dark wood and a grand feel over all) our room was great, we had a nice double bed, and a small sofa, and writing desk and our en suite. The staff were very accommodating, we arrived before check in, but they kindly held our luggage while we went out to explore Kobe. When we came back to check in, they'd left our luggage to our rooms, which we appreciated. We didn't eat at the hotel, but the food and menu looked good.

The rooms were clean and cozy. Location was good and could walk to train station or the center of town. Convenience store were around and Staffs are very nice and friendly.

Hotel do not have car park and they have contract with the car park nearby. Need to check with the hotel about which is the car park that hotel have contract with. We parked at the one on the opposite side and it was wrong. We had to move to another one.

The interesting interpretation that Japan has of what an English hotel is. For the rest it is Japanese cleanliness and organization. It is in the middle of one of the most diverse culinary districts of Kobe.

I felt sorry for the staff who have to endure The Beatles songs for 24/7 in the lobby. The breakfast area does look a bit dark and run down. Sure, it is pretty English but you do not need to emulate that part of the English experience.

The staff were kind and remembered us. I liked the complimentary water. I loved the breakfast! Some menu items changed daily so it was a nice variety. The roast beef and beef stew were delicious!

On the first day there was an odor like paint thinner or cleaning solution, but it was resolved by the next day. I didn’t like how narrow the bed was. My son and I rolled off the bed a few times, but due to the room configuration, we could not put the 2 beds together.

This hotel might be a bit dated, but the location is great, comfortable, and has good value for money. The best thing about this place is the service. I had some issues with a local shop, and the hotel staff went above and beyond to help me phoned the police and find the tourist helpline information. Thanks so much, Souke Minori and Nakanishi Kou, for your help! You both are superstars, and the hotel is lucky to have such excellent staff working for them.

When we moved to an upgraded room, it was very nice, clean and spacious. The location was about an 8 minute walk to the main station so it was pretty easy to get around.

The first room, which was the least expensive one, had carpet which felt a bit old and the curtains and bathroom seemed a bit old as well. Because of this there was a little bit of a musty smell...
