Hotel Stelle Belle

First ski trip from UK to Japan and Hotel Stelle Belle couldn't have been a better choice. A great location for Goryu slopes; a friendly, helpful team; but best of all was breakfast! A fantastic array of options that would be hard to beat- different egg options most days, various hot options as well as cereal and toast (and Earl Grey tea). Rooms are adequate rather than luxurious, and would benefit from more shelf or draw storage - but have everything you need. Ensuite was small but clean with good shower and bidet toilet. We also made use of the hotel bus for pickup and drop off at the Hakuba-Goryu bus stop. A fantastic time and highly recommended!

We were a couple and stayed in a triple room, the extra space was great. We had 2x single beds with a couch and a futon. Clean, standard kind of room, beds were hard but I am told this is quite standard in Japan. The hotel was ~250m from Hakuba Goryu so we walked up there each day. We discovered on our last day the hotel bus also could have driven us (read the hotel info when you get there!). It was our first time in Hakuba and we were happy to ski between Hakuba Goryu & Iimori (they connect at the top) so we didn't need to explore shuttle buses further. The hotel bus took us to the train station on our last day free of charge. We bought our lift passes from the hotel which was a little cheaper than on the mountain. Great wet room to store ski gear in The two main reception staff working during our stay were very helpful and spoke relatively good english-we were grateful and impressed. If something we asked in english wasn't understood straight away, it didn't take long to explain another way for it to be understood. We also met one of the owners while at a nearby food truck spot, and he was lovely to talk to. We used the private onsen once which was 1000 Y (~$ 10 AUD)- it was a fun experience. We also used the public onsen which was clean & a fun experience too. There was a tax to pay for this at the end of our stay ~$15 AUD which we hadn't noted (it applies to all guests I believe) but this wasn't a huge deal. Laundry- purchased washing powder from the reception for 50 yen (50c) and the washing machine & dryer were 100yen coin operated - I can't remember exact costs now but something like 200 yen to wash and 400 yen to dry.

We had no complaints or issues about our stay here.

We liked the service from Junko and all the staff. As we were travelling with young children the shuttle bus was very useful to help us collect our ski stuff from the local rental shop (Yamaha) and then deliver us to the local resorts Goryu or Iimori. You need to ask the front desk for this service. Breakfast was good with a mix of western and Japanese. The Japanese rooms were very comfortable and we bed shared with our baby and toddler (we don't do this at home) and really enjoyed it.

More storge hooks/shelves in the rooms to hang towels/clothes and to put away our 'stuff' would have been useful. Not the best hotel for young children because the shared bathrooms were far away from our Japanese stylevbedroom.

Our family (2 adults + 1 8-year old child) really enjoyed our stay here. Our primary reason for visiting was skiing. We had the 3 beds-in-a-room option which was fantastic. Lots of room. The location was great- easy walking distance to Goryu-Escal Plaza for skiing, plus easy transport to the other ski fields. Also easy walking distance to many rental shops. The room was very clean and tidy. Handy to have the lockers on the basement level to store and dry our ski gear in. The staff were very helpful. We had a few queries around skiing, getting around, etc, and they were quick to respond and gave good advice. They collected us from the train at short notice which was very helpful and appreciated. The onsite onsen is lovely too.

This was our fourth visit. Even so we did not manage to book the desired suite room, the room was still comfortable and beds extremely good. The breakfast is exceptional with a selection of Japanese and Continental choices. Great and variable miso soup every day, which is very yummy and gives energy for the full day skiing. Bathroom is a bit small but the bidet toilets compensates. The miso barrel onsen is a must after a long day on the slopes. Slopes are walking distances and not crowded.

Hakuba is always well booked therefore, you need to get in early particularly in the ski season. The location is walking distance to some ski slopes & in general a very pretty area. We didn't realise breakfast was included & what was put out was in general very good. The onsesn was great very relaxing & the room was adequate highly recommend Tatami style rooms as provide general more space whithout bulky mattress base beds.there is just one lift serving the hotel & we were provided with a carpark free.

We were not allowed to take advantage of national travel campaign at this hotel the check in person also noted we need vaccination certs etc which, we had on us. To be fair though we didn't tick the correct box at time of booking so can only blame ourselves.

Hotel was cosy although area was a little quiet because it was prewinter season when we were there

Difficult to find a place to eat in that area

It was in a convenient location and situated within close proximity to Hakuba Goryu and local shuttle buses. Room was spacious and comfortably fit three people. Reception was responsive and helpful with providing guidance on surrounding areas and transportation.

For those going to ski or snowboard, the hotel does not provide shuttle service to any ski resort. Shuttle service is prioritised for pick up and drop off services to the local bus and train station on your check in and check out days.

Breakfast buffet was very ample and filling; decent selection for both western and Japanese options. Location of property is about a five minute walk to the Goryu gondola, so not too far. Offsite dining options were pretty good for walking distance: GREAT Japanese restaurant and above average bar for seeming to be in the middle of nowhere, both less than 5 minutes walk door-to-door. The best ramen place in Hakuba is ~15min walk down across the train tracks, too. Room was surprisingly spacious for a Japanese ski resort. Best aspect of Stelle Belle was the private onsen rental. 850y total/30minutes. It was super relaxing and the highlight of our non-powder ski days. Hotel was very responsive to scheduling a shuttle pickup for when we arrived in town thru the booking.com's messaging/email, and the shuttle was waiting for us even though the bus dropped us off 5-10 min early. Icy road to walk uphill to the snow resort every morning thanks to a melt/freeze cycle, not that this was under control of the hotel in anyway. Just have to go slow.

Excellent service and facilities, location very close to slopes and lifts. Staff speaking good English. Beautiful Japanese and continental breakfast. Relaxing onsen outdoor and indoor for after skiing. One of us had medical issues and we got great help from the hotel staff. I stayed with a family of 5, very enjoyable skiing trip.
