Hida Hotel Plaza

The fact that there was hot springs in the hotel! The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, felt like a scene in a movie. There was a cute gift shop with a pond where there were koi fishes just swimming around! The hot spring was super clean and the beauty salon section where you can dry your hair provided such good facilities after you have a dip in the hot spring. The rooms were super spacious and the view was absolutely gorgeous! Staff was super friendly and helpful as well! It was only a few minutes walk away from the train station. Very easy walk, even when we had a lot of luggage with us and it was snowing. Highly recommend it if you're going to Takayama.

Excellent location (only about 5 mins walk from the station). Room was decent with a nice view of the mountains in the distance. Bathroom in the room was also quite nice. Very clean and a great size for the price. A lot of facilities at the hotel especially considering the quite low price and great location. Really easy to get to all the popular sights in Takayama from the hotel.

There seemed to be some general wear and tear in the room, nothing major though. Bed was a little uncomfortable as the mattress was a bit too firm. Was a bit difficult getting to and from the station in winter despite it being so close. There had been heavy snow the night before and it was still snowing a bit the morning I left, but when I asked at check-out if there were any options to get to the station without having to drag my suitcase through the snow, I was just given a map to show me how to get there. Not a big deal, but I would've appreciated a little more help from the staff.

The onsen on the top and bottom floors were amazing and we spent all night switching between the two. The room was wonderful and the location was close to the station. Would stay here again if in the area.

This was the only time in a hotel (as opposed to a ryokan where this is normal) where a staff member guided us to our room and then stepped into the room with us to have us fill out a COVID survey. We could have gotten to our room on our own and filled out the COVID survey at the front desk, so it was just awkward and felt a bit invasive to have that happen.

Great family hotel with the bonus of onsen! Nice touch to find a snack in the room and really good tea!

Slightly outdated furniture but well maintained.

The staff was very friendly. The food was very good. Our room was very clean. We liked walking in our Japanese pajamas.

Good Location (5 mins from station) and within easy reach of all sites.

Rooms are compact but that is common in Japan.

Everything was excellent, except for the organization of the room. The bed had one passage and not two passages on both sides

Onsen on the 9th floor may have to be renovated

Room is good, especially when we were given a complimentary upgrade, a super pleasant unexpected surprise.
