Hotel Casa Encantada

The hotel is central, but not right on the main square and so was quieter. The grounds are lovely, with many different types of plants and flowers and some of the most fragrant roses ever. Our room, Rosa, faced the terrace, and was on the second floor. No balcony, but plenty of beautiful outdoor common areas downstairs, and also an enclosed upper floor common area on the other side of the hotel. Our room had a microwave, which was great for us. My husband is up very early and makes his own coffee (with warm milk) and we were able to make sure he could do this. (The kitchen began serving coffee at 7…too long for us to wait), but that is not uncommon here in Mexico. There was a small common fridge downstairs which we were able to use, which was also useful for us. The staff was helpful, cheerful and accommodating. The hot breakfast was also a bonus. I would happily return again, and will heartily recommend it to others.

The parking is very awkward because the hotel doesn’t not have parking. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and we needed to drive all the way around the main plaza to access the parking lot which the hotel recommends, and which gives hotel guests a discounted rate if 150 pesos per 24 hours. The plaza was very busy and we were told the lot was full. We needed to return to the hotel to explain the situation, have them call the lot, and then hold a spot for us until we were able to return. The lot doesn’t open until 8 a.m. which means you cannot have access to your vehicle if you need to leave early. This was really our only complaint, and we now know for future reference that we need to try to work around this.

I liked the entire Casa Encantada experience. The beautiful courtyards, dining room, the individual rooms, and the friendliness of the staff were all stellar. Victoria, the owner comes for breakfast every day to talk with her guests and gives advice freely. Breakfasts were substantial with fruit, baked goods, juice and an egg or tamale dish of your choice. I’m already planning a return visit!

location and the amazing staff, first rate

we had a great room near the front of the property, loved it! great bed beautiful bathroom with amazing hot water and pressure in the shower. only downside, and it wasn’t a big deal was the noise. I’ve lived and worked in Mexico long enough to know that this can always be an issue. I’d come back to this hotel in a minute, first rate

This hotel exceeded my expectations on all levels. It was comfortable and well-maintained. I loved my room on the second floor in the rear of the property, where it was quiet and peaceful. I admit that I wouldn't want a ground-level room in the rear, which appeared a bit darker than the others on the second floor. My room was full of light. The staff was friendly and helpful. The owner was a delight to visit with. The in-room heater took the chill out of the evening air. WiFi was strong and consistent. The location was excellent---one block from Plaza Vasco.

The shower was a bit quirky, but I was warned about that from the beginning. After learning the process, it was just fine.

We enjoyed our stay. Booked two rooms one for my parents and one for my family. My wife and I stayed there almost 16 years ago on our honeymoon trip thru Mexico. It was very quiet and relaxing. The breakfast and cafe de la hoja was delicious! You won't be disappointed if you stay here. The owner was also a delight to talk to.

The breakfast was very good, as was everything else. I particularly liked that we were allowed to bring our very sweet and well-behaved dog.

Parking was unclear. We ended up parking right in front, but at one point we had the potential of blocking a delivery. That didn't happen, but no one was very clear on what we were supposed to do. This is an exceedingly minor complaint, since as I said, in the end, we parked right in front for 3 days

The breakfast was so delicious! I enjoyed being able to come down every morning for a different selection of Mexican cuisine. The location was perfect, so close to everything and cute shops. Will definitely be coming back.

Location, landscaping, art decoration, complimentary breakfast buffet, and most importantly, the friendly and very competent staff who in general had excellent English speaking skills.

my wife and friend stayed there and enjoyed the stay, i would suggest that the owner keep her politics out of her reception area. i would never book this hotel again.

so beautiful! amazing gardens. grounds were well kept with nice private seating areas. staff is professional and very pleasant. room was excellent, bed was very comfortable with plenty of blankets for cooler nights. many options for breakfast and delicious. would not hesitate to go back and highly recommend.
