Gamma Monterrey Gran Hotel Ancira

Staff was great. When we arrived on a Thursday Geovanna at the Front Desk was very nice and professional. Check in was quick and she even moved us to a room with more spacious bathroom, for my elderly parents. Bell boy that took our luggage to room was very pleasant and professional. We had a couple of minor maintenance issues that were resolved immediately by Geovanna. The Hotel is in the Heart of Zona Rosa in Downtown Monterrey. Walking distance to many restaurants, retail stores, bars, and even the famous Macro Plaza.

The only negative thing that I have is that on Friday and Saturday the Hotel hosted events in the evenings. One night it was a Quinceanera and the other night was a wedding. The ballrooms that host this events are not silence resistant and the music noise can be heard in the Hotel Rooms. At least in the 3rd floor in the room that we were staying.

the staff are the highlight of the hotel, particularly Kenya at the front desk who was always so friendly and helpful! location is in the heart of the city and walking distance to everywhere. incredible view of the mountains!

there is heavy construction going on across street, while they can be heard quite loud in the rooms with a Mountain View they observed reasonable hours. but if you had a video calls they are a nuisance. cleaning service was a bit off, with random number and type toiletries and towels provided each day. Also, on 2 occasions while trying to nap and with the “do not disturb sign” up they would knock and ask to clean the room.

Beautiful old building, lovingly restored. 5 minute walk to the Barrio. Room was spacious and clean. The staff were exemplary. So friendly and immediately responsive to our needs. The pool was clean and a nice temp. Our room was very basic- but for the price that made sense.

The room could have been a bit nicer. Maybe some art on the walls? Some real glasses instead of just styrofoam.

The hotel is right in/ super close to Monterrey's barrio antiguo. The building is so beautiful inside. The staff is super friendly and are more than willing to take the extra mile to help you. The neighbourhood though does not seem to be the friendliest but I walked around the neighbourhood way past midnight to look for food, and everything was alright. Tip: You an also can get UberEats to deliver food to your hotel.

The fitness centre could be air-conditioned or at least have more fans.

The Hotel Ancira is a classic hotel. One of the reasons why I love Monterrey. Filled with history and elegance. The hotel is always a quiet haven from the commotion of a cosmopolitan city. I love the understated opulence and attention to detail.

The towels definitely need to be better. I was greatly disappointed that a detail so important to the comfort of a guest would be overlooked. The towels appeared grey, tattered, and certainly not what I would expect from the Gran Ancira.

The location is great, close to some of the most popular attractions and a quick Uber ride to some others that are far away. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, always willing to support you. Breakfast buffet is very good, with lots of options to enjoy.

The air conditioning took a bit of time to cool the room.

Victorian style of building, Personnel amazingly kind and honest. I had left my computer and returned to hotel, Bellboy Antonio helped me out to find it throughly, and the end, it was in the locked room for luggage care. I felt very secured that personnel is very honest. Also kindnest of personnel from restaurant was outstanding

Meals room service ends up early every day

The lobby of the hotel is majestic! It’s reminiscent of La Belle Époque, and it’s still preserved in full glory, together with piano, restaurant, museum (displaying an old time bicycle), a barber, a bar and jewelers. It also has a Starbucks coffee stand in front of the lobby which happened to be opened until 4 pm. The location is excellent in the heart of downtown Monterrey with easy access to Macroplaza, the Cathedral and pedestrian streets. The facilities are awesome, with gym, sauna and pool that made my Dad very happy (he’s always looking to work out, even on holidays). The beds are heavenly comfortable and it was very nice to have a mini fridge in the room and access to a microwave (from the restaurant/room service) The staff were all very friendly and accommodating and the cleanliness pf the rooms was up to standard. There was also complimentary valet parking for guests. We had a very pleasant stay! This traditional historical business is always our hotel of choice whenever we visit Monterrey. We have stayed there for years and it never fails to disappoint!

Just the first day on arrival, the check in process was slow and traveling with small children that wasn’t a great thing. The interior of the rooms could be updated, some furnishings are worn out and need replacement. The remote control had not a lid at the back and when trying to notify the front desk I found the telephone was unplugged, so I had to go all the way to the lobby to inform them about these issues. We also had trouble with the bathroom door the first day, it would constantly lock itself. We had to call to front desk to contact maintenance to fix the door/replace the lock. The TV only had cable rather than being a smart TV Overall the hotel needs to play attention to the update and maintenance of the rooms, other than that, everything else was fine.

Originally, I had requested a room with a street view, and I was assigned a different one. I really appreciate and want to thank Miss Giovanna, front desk manager, for providing me a better room after I talked to her.

In my past stayings, small water bottles for drinking were supplied to pur room on a daily basis, but not this time. Also, the AC thermostat was set at 83 degrees, and it was not cold enough.

Excellent location near many shops and restaurants. The building has lovely architecture and a grand lobby. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Rooms are a bit outdated and could use some renovations; bathrooms and carpets are a bit rundown. Coffee shop in lobby opens very late; was still closed at 9am!
