Chateau Royal Beach Resort & Spa, Noumea

Second time here and it's the most comfortable stay we've enjoyed within Noumea. It's a bit of a walk from the restaurants outside however, an easy stroll. Direct access to the beach through the pool Lots of pillows for a great night's rest

The food at L'escal which offers a takeaway menu after lunch and before dinner was very disappointing. We paid a lot for food that wasn't fresh and stale unfortunately. No available spots at the Spa, even though we were staying there for a full week. It's the second time I've visited and unfortunately keep missing my turn. My recommendation is if you're looking to book a spa session for a massage, book well in advance before you arrive to new caledonia.

The 2 bed apt was beautiful with fabulous views. Nice spa treatments. Quiet nights Monday to Wednesday. Lovely staff.

This is such a shame and out of the control of the hotel. 200 mts away on a jetty is a restaurant & bar. It plays VERY VERY heavy base loud music until 3:30 am Thu to Sunday. Impossible to sleep through .

The restaurant food was not very good. The hotel didn't offer any tour information or services.

We had a splendidly relaxing holiday and were very pleased with our choice of hotel. Noumea had only opened up a few weeks before our visit following the Covid hiatus, so the place had a reawakening feel and not everything is up and running completely smoothly yet, but we had a wonderful stay nevertheless. The resort is right next to the beach and the water is gorgeous. There are plenty of restaurant choices within easy walking distance as well as two good in-house options and your own ample kitchenette with two burners, a microwave, dishwasher and good sized fridge. Supermarkets are not very close by but can be reached by walking and/or you can take a local bus if you don't hire a car. The staff are uniformly delightful. It helps to have a little French but you can get by without it.

The indoor pool in the pictures of the resort is an extra facility that has to be paid for separately and was in any case closed from Monday to Friday for maintenance while we were staying. The hotel had sent a message in advance to warn us of this.

The property is situated in a position that makes it easily accessible to the local shops (Le Promenade) and bus service for trips to local museums and the cultural centre. The staff were exceptional, the restaurants amazing and the view from the pool out over the beach and ocean exceptional. Rooms were large and felt modern and the staff were willing to help with any of your questions or needs.

No negatives and the only minor inconvenience was the lack of accessibility to the main footpath/sidewalk due to construction. There are gates I noticed that allowed easier access to Anse Vata but these were closed.

The hotel exceeded our expectations with its location, amenities and most importantly the staff. From the pool cleaner, and restaurant personnel to the housekeeping staff and the fantastic front desk staff always with a smile and a 'Bonjour'. They were all the most friendly and accommodating we have experienced in our world travels. Our family enjoyed a prestige two-bedroom unit that had modern decor detailed to a high standard and super clean. The room was oversized for a hotel and the kitchen was a great bonus. Views over the water from the two balconies watching the kite surfers and boats were mesmerising. Along with the most beautiful sunsets over the water, imaginable. The large beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were well-stocked with fluffy towels and the usual amenities you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Breakfast had a good selection of French pastries and hot choices plus fresh fruit and meats. A massage at the spa is a must if you stay and the choice will astound you! The hotel is located in a quiet area but a convenient stroll along the oceanfront to restaurants and retailers. We would recommend the Chateau Royal to any traveller.

Excellent location, refurbished rooms, great layout for a family of 4 (we chose the 2 bedroom suite). The rooms were really clean and the housekeeping staff were very enthusiastic.

The internet allowance was generous and worked well in the day, but not great at night - probably dealing with a larger load when guests are back in their rooms. The restaurant on site was an amazing spot to sit and watch the sunset and the restaurant staff were very attentive; however the menu was very limited and did not necessarily showcase local cuisine or produce. The reception staff were nice enough and helpful when asked, but could be better at anticipating the needs of the guests who are invariably tourists.

The staff were all excellent, easily spoke English or French, smiling, greeted you whenever they walked past you, helpful with questions and suggestions, lovely banter, wonderful service.

My adult daughter and I required 2 single beds. The only minor critique re: our room was the size of the 2 single beds. The length of the beds was perfect however the width of the single beds was quite narrow for an adult. The rest of the room was fantastic. The full kitchen was very useful, the rain shower was lovely, great mirror and lighting in the bathroom, chairs and table out on the balcony. The blackout curtains were a nice bonus and the pocket doors between rooms made it possible to sleep in total darkness as the sun rose before 5am. Also very pleased with our cleaning lady, Paulette, she was very sweet and always did a wonderful job on our room.

Great view of the water, well equipped room (1 bed superior), friendly & helpful staff, fabulous location right on the beach, good facilities. A lot of breakfast choices and good garden bar/restaurant looking out on the water. Some other restaurants in Anse Vata and the water taxis to Ilot Canards and Ilot Maitre (for snorkelling), are walking distance. The hotel beach also has an optional netted area for swimming.

One of the restaurants was closed, likely due to the refurbishments in that part of the hotel. Most of the tours go from the cruise ship terminal which is a taxi ride to get there. Water sports rental in Anse Vata was closed due to streetworks.
