AAA Thames Court Motel

Our room was sparkling clean and a good size. There was also a kitchenette with everything you might need neatly stored away in the cupboards. The bathroom was also large with a lovely shower cubicle. I liked that things you might need, but not all the time, were stored in the undersink cupboard, keeping the room tidy and organised. The large bed was very comfortable and had lots of blankets, including an electric one (!) in case it was cold. The TV was a good size and had SKY TV channels but we didn't watch it that much. The host and hostess were very friendly and helful, making several suggestions where we might eat etc.

The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had been modernised and the shower was good. There was a separate kitchen area with a microwave, stove top hotplates and fridge, so you could cook a basic meal if you wanted to. Basic cooking requirements and crockery were also supplied. You could pay extra for a continental breakfast but we chose to go into town for something more filling.

The loud ticking clock, which was high up on the wall. I would like to have taken the batteries out!! This motel is on the main road, so there was constant traffic initially but it did quieten down.

Bed was cosy and comfortable, warm and the heating was great. Nice kitchen set up, especially the focus on recycling. I liked all the TV channels. Had an important horse race to watch, so that was a bonus having Trackside. Everything was clean, well set up and had extra touches that made it feel more homely. Takeaways across the road if cooking isn't on the plan, but easy walk into town.

AAA Thames Motel is superbly equipped, beyond many others that I have visited. There really is a nice feel about this one and the little extras make all the difference. Things like an electric point at the bedside, good lighting and a nice range of beverages. Parking is outside your room. WiFi is good. If you need a meal, I can recommend The Last Post in town. It's a nice clean town with an interesting railway history. I wouldn't bother with the Blue Penguin experience. They charge you for the walk to the area, but photography is not permitted.

The room was spacious. Even though the motel is on the main road - the glass was well insulated such that we did not hear any noise at all. It was very quiet inside. We had everything that we needed, including the kitchen facilities. The lady at the reception at the reception was helpful, informed us of a jazz festival which took place during our stay and recommended good restaurants. The location was good. We parked at our door. The places of interest were a short drive away.

A minor thing, the coffee mugs were rather small. Small tea cups were also provided so how about some more generously-sized coffee mugs?

We were delighted when we stepped into the room. It was very, very nice. Everything was well maintained and very clean. The beds were comfortable. There were 3 extra pillows, extra blanket, iron and ironing board, lots of hangers, hair dryer and the kitchen was well stocked with plates, cups, pans etc. There was a lot of room for our family of 4 adults. The motel staff / owner was very friendly and very accommodating. We would definitely stay there again the next time we are in Oamaru.

The shower pressure could have been a little bit stronger.

Easy friendly check-in. Plenty of room inside the unit and good facilities for cooking. Unit was very clean and neat. I had a very comfortable sleep - best away from home sleep pin a long time.

Really hard to find fault here. The only thing for me that I would have liked was perhaps an internal curtain for the front of the unit (across the glass doors) so that people walking past can't see in.

Very large unit, good facilities and very courteous and helpful staff. Quick to check on the heating issue we had and arranged for it to be repaired quickly.

The heater broke, however it was immediately checked and an electrician arranged to come out straight away to repair it (while we were at dinner) so it was toasty warm when we got back. So this issue didn’t have any negative impact on our stay.
