Brydone Hotel Oamaru

We were in town for the Steampunk Festival and the hotel was within walking distance of the historic quarter, which was great. The room wasn't overly large, but enough for three singles. The shower was very good and the beds were comfortable.

There's nothing to put here. The hotel functions well, I was able to have a parcel dropped at reception when I wasn't there and there was even a hotel evacuation when the smoke detectors went off, so the hotel does very well!

Excellent location in the middle of town, easy walking distance to cafes, bars, shops, and the Victorian Precinct. Plenty of parking off the main street. Room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean.

As the building is historic, it did not have air conditioning (although we opened a window and this worked well). I am a light sleeper and at times noise from the street was noticable, but this was not an issue for my partner. I slept very well once I put my earplugs in. Overall, a lovely old building, great location, with a very tidy and comfortable room.

High quality bathroom facilities and beautiful decor. Exceeded expectations. The location was amazing, Brydone Hotel is in the CBD. We were travelling with a ute and a trailer and the parking at the rear of the building was outstanding, with plenty of room. (This may be different if an event was on, but our experience was that it was perfect for us (we phoned first to check). Polite staff, this accommodation is of excellent value and delighted that we stayed there.

There was only one cup in the room, that was the only thing that I could say that wasn't perfect about the roo.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, some communal areas were a little dated but the rooms were lovely and the shower was excellent. We ate a few nights and had breakfast every day, the food was very good. The hotel was close to all the attractions and there was lots of parking.

There was nothing about our stay that we didn't like.

Ancient architecture and we stayed in the spa suite, it’s well worth the extra month as the bathroom is beautifully renovated with a deep corner spa. Stayed here to view the blue penguins come up from the beach. it’s only a short drive from this lovely old time hotel.

It was a little musty in the room, we solved the problem by opening a window. it would have been nice to open all the windows. One or possibly two were stuck shut.

Everything really. Very friendly & obliging staff. Had been recommended by friend Len Cook who had stayed previously. Also visited the Castle which was amazing & superb & penguins pretty good too. Take a blanket if in winter.

Instructions for TV missed but maybe were in folder . BAthroom very tiny but shower great pressure although hand held nozzle preferred but minor matters.

The room was perfect and the bed was very comfortable, i enjoyed the bonus of a bath in the bathroom such a luxery. location very perfect to where we wanted to go. lovely sea views and free drink on arrival was a nice touch. We loved the old charm of the hotel, and the beautiful classical music being played on the panio.

access to the lift at all times, seemed to be out of order later in the evening. not being able to enjoy a meal later in the evening , in the beautiful dining area or a cooked breakfast on the sunday morning.

Comfy bed - well presented clean room - good restaurant

A heater in the bathroom would be great. Not the Hotel's fault but we had a fire alarm activation in the middle of the night meaning we had to stand outside for an hour in our pyjamas while waiting for the ok to return to our room. The staff should have spoken with the occupants assembled outside and kept us informed .

Overall room size was great, great rustic feel with all the amenities that a room should have. Bathroom heater is great for cold days and there was a fan in the room which we appreciated so much!!! Parking slots are aplenty too at the back of the hotel

The only lift was under maintenence because someone forced it open when we checked in so we had to use the stairs, but overall had a great experience.

Extremely comfortable bed and sofa's, brilliant location, has two bars and a restaurant. Staff were very friendly. Had a suite (e.g. separate bedroom and lounge) for almost the same price as a studio room.

Not as many Free To Air or Sky channels as i'm used to when travelling, but adequate. In house restaurant does not offer vegetarian meal on menu though I'm told they will accommodate this upon request.
