Stray Birds Taichung Hostel

The room is clean, spacious and full of amenities. It located in a modern building with 8 floors. My friend and I stayed on 7th floor. We booked a mix of dorm rooms 1 week prior to coming to Taichung. The bathroom is spacious and convenient as well. My friend really liked the space of bathroom. What I liked most is the lobby with cafe pantry. We can have breakfast, cafe and work there. The view of the city is nice as well. The location is nearby many restaurants and places. We just walked around 400-500 meters (around 10-15mins )

Breakfast is not bad; there's toast with 3-4 different choices of spread and traditional Chinese style congee with pickles and dried pork thingy. There are free tea bags and creamer. The decor is pleasant and the communal area is spacious. What I particularly like is the design of the shower area and the bed. The location is superb. It's right on the main road and I spent 2 hours just in a huge secondhand bookstore almost next door. It's perfect for a lone traveler who enjoys exploring small and new things along the way.

I think the staff could be a little bit more friendly.....maybe a bit more smile and active greeting?

Good place, quiet, nice facilities, it was very practical that you could use the key card to open the locker as well. Nice that the slippers were non-disposable and there was recycling. Unfortunately I didn't find time to try the rooftop, but the common area/lounge was spacious. The kitchen was a good size too and the location close to Xiangshang Market was very good. Overall clean.

The toilet floors could have been cleaned a bit better - there were dust and hairs that weren't cleaned in over a day.

There was a stench in the bathroom on the first day of my stay - fortunately this was cleared up on the following day

Quiet hostel. Exceptional cleanliness and facilities throughout. Certainly the best hostel I have stayed in the last 10 years. Soap, shampoo, hair dryer in the shower. Towel drying rack in the balcony and shoe rack on the outside, free indoor slippers provided, good air conditioning, bedding done by staff, self service laundry, simple breakfast! Exceptional value for money! Can’t get better

a lot of food options nearby. Staff are friendly. Bed is comfy and a locker was given which is useful. Large adequate communal area and the area is cozy enough.

The breakfast option can be improved. Facilities are quite outdated. We need to remove the bedding sheet , duvet cover and pillowcase ourselves upon check out

Really cute. Public area and rooftop lounge were clean and well decorated. They don't allow outside shoes on the floors with rooms, which makes the hostel feel clean. Public bathrooms were also well maintained. Overall, felt very secure.

I wasn't aware that towels weren't provided. I think they should be, at least for the private rooms. For the shared dorm rooms, I can understand. For Taiwan, 50NTD to rent a towel seemed a little steep.

Awesome little hostel in the middle of the city. Super close to tons of restaurants and parks. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. The hostel has a great communal area as well as a rooftop area. It was raining while I was there, but it looked like it could be a great place to chill out under the night's sky. I would stay here again for sure.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was very friendly. Everything was clean. They provide a towel, shampoo, and body wash at no extra charge. The lobby/common area was extremely nice. As a solo female traveler I appreciated that the whole 5th floor was for women only. That made me feel even more comfortable. There were lots of restaurants, shops, and other places within easy walking distance. When I go back to Taizhong I will definitely stay here again.

The indoor communal area is the one of the largest, cleanest and nicest that I have seen in any hostel around the world. Lots of seating, large kitchen area. The outdoor communal area on the roof is very nice too with plenty of room to sit. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's a big hostel so there were lots of people but it was very relaxed, maybe not a place to meet people because most seemed to be in big groups. Sharing the bathroom was never an issue and it was very clean and nice, especially the showers. The dorms were in separate hotel-like rooms with lockers, AC, curtains for each bed and everything you need. No problems with noise. Breakfast was bread, spreads, cheese, ham, rice porridge with extras and fruit. Simple and plentiful. Tea and coffee available all day. Location is central and safe area. Good value compared to everything else I saw in Taichung.
