my room was horrible. see the pictures I requested a change of todo for my second night. staff was accommodating and I was able to be next to the room of my daughters, and share the common balcony for the second day. but this place doesn’t qualify as a hotel at all. rooms have no micro, no fridge, no coffee and not even a phone to call front desk. if you want coffee go get it at the “lobby” and to warm up any food use the “common microwave at reception” no food concession at the premises. the access to the beach displayed online can be use only on your way. the gate that connects to the beach belongs to another property and to get back to the hotel you have to go around the block. luckily Not a long walk. location is pretty much what this place has to offer.

the room itself was beautiful and bright and the bed was super comfy! we had a lovely view of the beach too. it was a really safe area (all gated in which you need a code to get into) you’re literally right on the beach and super close to Santa Monica pier and lots of nice shops, bars, restaurants (would recommend blue plate taco)

parking was a little pricey @ $36 per night

This is a nice place with a lot of character. It is older, and they appear to be in the process of upgrading. It is worth getting a suite on the second floor. You probably are not going to see the ocean, but it is an easy walk to the beach down a flight of stairs and then about a block away. The people are super-nice and very helpful. There are security gates controlling the entrance to the property. You can't get back in via the gate at the bottom of the stairs, so you have to walk around but this is definitely necessary for security. Regarding the updates, they started with the smart things -- the bed was very comfortable, and the TV seemed new. On the minus side, the remote was kind of iffy and there's no guide to help you figure out where the channels are. But you're at the beach! Most places that close in charge a lot more, and there are some swanky properties nearby. The famous Santa Monica Pier and Palisades Park are within easy walking distance. There are a lot of nice places to eat. They have free Keurig coffee in the lobby.

This is probably not going to be an issue, but the only heat is a space heater. We were there during an unusual cold spell. We were supposed to be in a king room but there was a maintenance issue and they moved us to a suite. I'm not sure we would have been as happy with the first room. The suite was not just bigger, it was much better-appointed. And Santa Monica has the issues that are all over California -- homeless people obviously on drugs. They do appear to do a pretty good job of keeping the beach clean and safe. Kind of unusually, they don't allow dogs on the beach. LA may be the most dog-friendly town in the U.S., but the whole beach park is a no-go for Fido.

The place was clean, large and ideal if you're into surfing as you're a near the beach. Staff were very helpful. We were staying there as we'd finished Route 66 and it was great.

Parking is not awesome, however there is nearby parking walking distance from the hotel and is cheaper than the hotel so it depends on what you're happy with. You have to manage your expectations as you're in a central location for the beach and the Santa Monica pier. Talk to the hotel beforehand and reserve a spot prior to attending.

I had a room in the back, after two days on the front of the building. I recommend getting a room in the back. The courtyard is very cute and the access to the beach was great. JP was especially friendly with helping me select a room on the beachside. I appreciated this very much! The hotel was dog friendly and they had great coffee available every day, plus restaurants and coffee shops were a short walk away, plus parking for a fair price.

location and staff was Great ! very friendly caring staff. They have free coffee/tea in the lobby 24/7. It was very close and easy to walk to the beach and Santa Monica pier.

It says parking on site, but they fail to tell you it is on reservation only so if you don't reserve ahead of time you have to park 4 blocks away in a public parking lot. It cost $30 a day at the site or the public lot. it could use some updating in the bathroom but other then that is was excellent!

The room was cozy,, adorable and comfortable beds. I liked that the sidewalk led straight to the beach and the pier. Plenty of places to eat n shop within walking distance. Jinkys Cafe, excellent bfast spot, large menu, cash only.

Extra blankets in the closet would be nice, free bottled water in the room. If they could make the back gate entrance available to re-enter after you leave, also more lighting by the back gate.The parking lot is tight, so the smaller your car the better.

I liked the walkability of the area! It was close to the beach and the room was nice size for my daughter and me.

If you're interested in going to the Santa Monica pier, this location is excellent. In hindsight, I wasn't interested in the pier, so I would likely choose something a littler further away because it was quite noisy outside. However, that does not detract from the property itself - it was a cozy property and I'd recommend it.

Quaint, retro clean rooms. Love the surfer vibe and hospitality. Felt safe and comfortable. Not new or fancy but that’s just fine. Easy access to amenities outside of hotel. Hot water, good TV options. Overall very enjoyable stay.

Coffee in room would be nice (it’s free in checkin but literally have to go outside). A bit of street noise, no central air (but did have a/c if needed) and older style “low” showerhead. Fine for 5’5 me but taller folks would have an odd shower.

Location!!!!! It was perfect and close to everything we needed. Lot's of good restaurants walking distance. Cute little courtyard, private staircase leading almost to the beach. Staff was professional, helpful and kind. Price. We stayed in 2 bdrm apartment and it was worth every penny. Side view of the ocean and Santa Monica Pier. Little balcony. The property is a little old, hallway carpet dirty, but the unit itself was relatively clean. Don't expect 5*hotel for the price you pay. I would definitely come back.

No coffee maker or microwave due to Covid. I ordered one from Amazon to be delivered to the hotel. We stayed for 8 nights so it was worth it even when we just gave it up for free afterwards. Traffic can get little noisy weekend evenings.
