Toiyabe Motel

Nice warm welcome and a lovely cute establishment in a beautiful environment. If you're after a motel with something a bit cute and quaint this place ticks the boxes.

The one thing to bear in mind however is that this motel is in a large region where the availability of food is VERY limited (unless you want to live on gas station snacks). If you're out of season, plan ahead (which we didn't - leaving me and my 3 kids without dinner or breakfast). You won't find anything en route (apart from a casino) either so DO take picnic or other foods with you.

Owner couple is the most amazing people you'll meet! They are extremely accommodating to my family and new born daughter with open arms.... The room was very comfortable with a sweet full size bathroom and spacious layout... The center area of the motel has a nice water fountain and zen seating for outdoor sitting... Lights for nite time... And useful bbq, smoker, or grill available for use... Ice machine that was functional... Checking in and out was quick with zero complications... Most definitely recommending for anyone to try this location first! We plan on going back the next season of opening!

The room was super clean and well arranged. Bathroom was excellent, new fixtures in the shower and worked perfectly. Clean towels galore. The rooms (I booked 3 for my group) were all similar in excellence. The motel rooms look restored to its glory days and I enjoy the classic (some would say retro) style. The bed was modern and comfortable with no sag on either side. Checking in was easy and the wife and husband team were so helpful and friendly. A pleasant stay for sure and I will be returning!

Very welcoming and informative. It was a pleasure to talk to her. I really appreciated that they took our safety and theirs into consideration. ie: masks and sanitizing when cleaning rooms and being in rooms. Small beautiful rooms but very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again. Very clean and I watched the next morning someone cleaning rooms with masks and sanitizers. Very happy about that because getting sick is a risk and we felt comforted knowing they are doing their best to keep us safe and healthy. As a bonus Walker Burgers are right across the street if you can get there in time to enjoy while they are open!

There are no complaints on our end. Just wish we had longer to stay and enjoy the property and the area longer.

Hotel is right off the freeway and easy to access. The staff was able to accomodate my late check in which I was extremely happy about. They also gave me a heads up that the businesses close early so I was able to plan ahead.

This isn't about that hotel itself but the local businesses do close early and I came in later at night. So, if you are coming in at night plan ahead so you don't arrive hungry or needing to buy something.

The room was so cute and charming! Everything was spotlessly clean and adorable. The owners were friendly and welcoming, the details were perfect. They even let us know in advance that there weren't open restaurants, so we could plan to bring food we could warm up in our in-room microwave. The bed was comfortable and had great pillows. Shower was hot and functional, towels and linens felt pretty new and nice. And you can't beat the price for this quality. (I don't know why Booking.com says I'm from Indonesia--I'm from the Bay Area here in CA.)

There's a little bit of road noise if your room is close to the road, although it wasn't a big deal for us. And the heater, while very functional and toasty, made a little bit of noise that woke us up a couple of times. But again, wasn't a big deal for us.

- Very cute little motel, very well maintained with plenty of charm. Rooms are cosy and comfortable with everything you need (fridge, coffee maker). the garden is very relaxing. - there is a coffee restaurant 1min drive from the motel. - the staff was really nice - very good value for money. - perfect location : 1h drive from Yosemite Tioga pass, in a stunning landscape area. the area is definitely worth staying a while / 1h drive from south lake tahoe. - they have a triple room, which was just PERFECT for a small family, and hard to find in the US!

interior soundproofing is bad, we could hear our neighbours sneeze.

Super clean - Like immaculate. Decor was very cozy, mountain cabin style; natural wood, B&B style touches. Quiet location, not facing Hwy 395 directly so the road sound isn’t reflected directly at the rooms. Nice park-like area with chairs and tables in the center of the property.

The rooms are small, but the way the owners keep the property maintained is off the charts.

Very clean and cozy. Easy to find. Owner operated. Owner was helpful, friendly, giving.. lots of towels, comfortable beds. Great price. Quiet, no issues with safety.

Checking in is easy. However, you need to check in before 10 pm or you may be out of luck because owners go to sleep and may cancel your reservation. Please respond to their email when to confirm you're coming!

The proprietors were very friendly and fun to talk to. I loved the quint knotty pine decor. Definitely, hotel is a great "blast from the past!" It was perfect for relaxing and directly across the street from the Walker Burger. Also, great outdoor area for guests to hang out.

Motel met my expectations. Don't expects some fancy place. It was clean and nice, though.
