Hyatt Place Chicago - Lombard/Oak Brook

The layout of the suite was exactly what we wanted and couldn't find anywhere else. The partial wall between the bed and the couch made it easy to share the room, but still have some privacy between the sides. I was travelling with my elderly dad, who needed me at all times, but we didn't want to watch each other sleep. The breakfast was also outstanding, and I enjoyed having the bar available in the evenings.

The biggest issue was the lack of information about providing housekeeping only upon request. When our room wasn't cleaned the first day, I looked for a notice in the room and found nothing. At the end of our five night stay, I finally noticed the sheet of paper posted at the check-in desk explaining the housekeeping policy, but it wasn't pointed out to me when I checked in and we could have used a cleaning. I did pick up extra supplies at the desk as needed. My elderly father also had difficulty maneuvering in the bathroom to close the door. He doesn't specifically need any handicapped services, but it did take some contortions to get into the bathroom and close the door that were difficult for him.

Great breakfast. Wife love the pool and it was excellent that she could have the grandkids over to enjoy it ( only see them every few years). Also , wife left her pillow at motel in previous town. We were very pleased to find each bed had pillows of different firmness. Nice touch!

Power outage one night. Spoke with a gentleman who arrived that night with his very pregnant wife and had to walk up to the 5th floor. Day we checked out one of the two elevators went out during breakfast. Poor little woman stuck on it about 20 minutes ringing bell with no response. Door just happened to open. It was temperamental all previous day.

The rooms were clean and great with a lot of sunlight. The breakfast was good too with lots of options to choose from. The area has a lot of restaurants nearby at walking distances.

TV does not have airplay but does take hdmi connections if you take the cable. We stayed for four nights and got replacement towels from the cleaners when asked but they did not clean the room upon request. I had asked reception to send me towels earlier but they wanted me to bring dirty towels downstairs :S the evening staff at reception was much nicer than the morning one.

The location was perfect. The staff was helpful and easy to speak to.

I didn’t use one of the pillows because it here were some stains.

Staff members allare personable. We found that they greeted each guest with intentionality and were quickly responsive to guests' needs. They worked to maintain a positive experience even when they had challenges. Our check-in was delayed because of a system-wide computer issue. Yet, all three staff quickly worked around the situation to assure guests were in their rooms while the computer issues were resolved. The staff also very efficiently solved a food service issue for Sunday breakfast. The supply truck had failed to make the delivery the day before. There was not enough food with a hotel full of guests. The manager had checked the food inventory early enough to go purchase what was in short supply locally. When the breakfast server came to work, all was there for her. The guests never knew of the situation. I had been in the lobby to hear of this when the manager updated his morning staff.

It would be nice to have a water and coffee/tea station available 24/7. Other gyests were asking about this later in the day.

Room was clean and contemporary. The layout of the room was good. Liked the bath products in the shower. The breakfast had options. I appreciated the scrambled eggs, quality whole wheat toast, chicken sausage (on Sunday) and many other choices. The coffee was Starbucks. It was great.

The pool was dated. Not a place that would be fun to chill out on the chairs relaxing; however, it was functional and I enjoyed the opportunity to swim in the pool. The janitor did an excellent job of cleaning the area. I would have liked a microwave but I got along without it.

The breakfast was good. It was the same thing everyday and I was there for 3 days. (Sausage, pancake, eggs, good orange and apple juice). You make your own oatmeal and toast.The shower pressure was sooo good!

There is no daily housekeeping, I requested housekeeping for 1 day and my name/room number was put on the list but no one ever showed up. I only needed them to come to get all the used towels. I made up my own bed. Staff never gave reason and I said, just forget it. It has been a week and I still have not received my deposit. I was suppose to be charged a one time deposit of $80.00 according to Booking website before I booked. When I got there, I was charged the deposit per day. No it’s not my bank. Again, I’m still waiting on my deposit.

I like how big the room is and the cleanliness is good. I also like the breakfast options since it varies a lot.

The room decoration/style did feel a bit aged, like it didn't feel modern enough compared to other Hyatt we have stayed in. Also we noticed how the bathroom sink is outside the bathroom, which is weird for us. We also thought it'd be nice if you could offer soy milk or non dairy alternative for milk. I've seen some hotels offer this as well as regular milk.

Pet Friendly. Location of Hotel being in a business-Suburban district was good for walking dog in parking lot. Lots of eatery options (car required for ease---seems crossing the major streets on foot-is not common). Staff very pleasant and helpful; breakfast included in price was nice offering and satisfactory food options provided. Stairwells at both ends of property were nice alternatives to elevator when walking with pet.

Pre-stained carpet in room... I believe they could be cleaned up. Anyhow was fine that the reception staff upon my arrival were open to making that note of the pre-stained carpeting in the room prior to my stay with my pet.

Breakfast was good. The hotel was clean as well as my room. Check in and out was quick and the Staff was friendly. I was pleased with the bed it was very comfortable. My overall stay was good. I would recommend.

I think the rooms should have microwaves in them. Kind of an inconvenience to have go out your room to the main lobby to warm up food. and the bathroom was very small hardly any room to turn around in them.
