Evangeline Downs Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection

Breakfast included, location was close to everything and rooms were quiet. Two tvs were a plus. The small seating area in front of the hotel was nice to drink coffee and most of the staff were very hospitable.

Had to ask for bed linens for the sofa sleeper and they gave us 1 pillow and 2 flat sheets. No blanket. AC in our room didn't keep the room cool and it was cooler outside than in our room. The cost of the room was way overpriced. But we had to have something to fit two adults one teenager and three young children and there was nothing else available but two nights was $515.

Phone lines were down couldn't book except online made it much more expensive. We have stayed here in the past quite a few times and were able to negotiate better rate. Booking online has become a rip off! Evangeline Downs is close to home and if we would like to get away for a couple nights to gamble or see live music at a reasonable rate we look forward to that. Please don't price yourself out of us staying again we've always had a nice stay. We're both retired and on a budget.

Very clean, spacious rooms, nice pool, comfortable beds and pillows, soft towels, clean room and facilities, friendly staff, good location, very cold fridge. Quiet rooms. Plenty of lighting and outlets.

The water was lukewarm and the jets didn't work in the jacuzzi. The elevator was a bit scary and shakes when it reach your floor. Breakfast was mediocre.

Room was wonderful. Was able to set the a/c low to get the room cool.....employees were nice and courtesies. Breakfast was delicious too.

The temp throughout the hotel. (Outside my room) Was warm and not cool on a very hot day. Was hard for me to breath with long walks to get anywhere in hotel during renovation.

The staff and easy access to the casino.

I booked a suit through booking.com but when we arrived I was given a regular smoking room. I was disappointed due to the fact I could not get a different price on my room when I paid more for a suit that I did not receive. In all the front desk staff was great.

We loved the horse races we could see from our window! We went down and bet and won a few times! 😁 They had a nice smoking patio outside if you’re a smoker, a casino attached with many restaurants! The housekeeper on the 2nd floor was super accommodating, and she had even returned my wedding ring to the front I didn’t notice I had left on the bathroom counter the day before right before checkout! Her name is Tay they said and she was a gem our entire 3 days if it was the same lady who asked if we needed things the days before! ❤️🙏 I am eternally grateful for her and good to know there are still honest people! 😌

There was a strong smell of Marijuana in our room that seemed to come from the bathroom vent, and the really nice housekeeper on the 2nd floor took note and it finally settled down before we checked out… it happens sometimes and we weren’t super bothered since we were out so much…

The wonderful staff is always so friendly. From the front desk to the dining room to the housekeeping staff, everyone was very approachable with smiles on their faces. I recommend this hotel to everyone!

The beds. The mattresses are extremely firm. Also, I traveled with my mother who is short at 83 years old, and she had difficulties climbing up into the bed.

The Staff was Excellent, The Breakfast was outstanding & the cooks were the nicest ladies & were so sweet, Rooms were cleaned & beds were so comfly 😉

That the Pool was closed after I was told it was opened, spent more money on other water activity else where, & the fact that people keep the luggage carts in their rooms so no one else can use them, having to make 5 trips from second floor with 2 kids was no fun!

What I liked about the property was its location and size of the room. I also liked that you served breakfast.

Upon check-in, there were 2 employees but only one was checking in. I don’t know if the other was on orientation or not. It seemed like she was doing well. I have a bad knee and had to stand in line 15-20 minutes with only 2 people ahead of me and the first was almost done. I didn’t care for the smoky smell throughout the facility. The pillows were small.
