Scottish Inns Sturbridge

The Scottish Inn at Sturbridge isn't a luxury hotel, but it's clean, comfortable, and affordable. The couple who run it seem very nice. It's a great choice if you're traveling and need somewhere to stay for a night. There's a simple complimentary breakfast--it's nothing gourmet, but it was good to be able to grab a coffee and donut before hitting the road in the morning.

The only complaint I have is that the shades were not flush with the wall, which meant that a lot of very bright light from the parking lot came in through the gap at the top. Fortunately, I was able to block the gap with towels to get the room mostly dark. If you're staying here and you have trouble sleeping in a room that isn't fully dark, I recommend coming prepared with binder clips and a big black sheet. (Or one of those eyeshade things, if they work for you.)

Great location. Clean and comfortable room. Very nice staff. Good breakfast.

The only thing we didn't like was that even though we had a non-smoking room, it became obvious that the previous occupant had smoked in the bathroom. We just didn't notice it when we first entered the room. We told the manager about it and hoped he would give us another room but he didn't/wouldn't. We had to keep the bathroom door closed the entire time we stayed there except for when we had to use it and that helped. Couldn't smell any smoke in the main sleeping room.

furnishings added to the darkness of the room. It would help to have grab bars to aid getting into the tub. The outlets/lighting were a bit confusing: if you turned off the light switch the outlet went dead. I finally figured to keep the switch on and turn the light next to the bed off at the source--maybe just some directions

The room is basic. Bed was comfortable, bathroom spacious with plenty of hot water. Microwave and refrigerator in room. A small corner nook with table and two chairs. Air conditioner and fan worked well. Hot coffee and juice in breakfast room and bananas which we appreciated. Our room was quiet and clean, though the furniture is older.

While we had a non smoking room, the room next door was smoking and we could faintly smell the cigarette smoke. No folding racks to put suitcase on. Reading other reviews, I realized that breakfast was cold cereal and bagels and pastries, not our liking, so we brought our own breakfast and ate in the room. There is a breakfast restaurant next door that our friends tried and said was excellent. Others also mentioned bright lights outside that are on all night and shine over the curtains and into the room. I brought an eye mask and this worked for me.

This is a motel in a good location for travelers off on I-90 or visitors to Old Sturbridge Village. For a low price, the property was in very good shape and the people were very friendly. There's a very nice tavern with great food just down the street. I've stayed at too many major brands that have not kept up with maintenance or personnel since the pandemic. This place was well-kept.

The mattress might have been a little softer. But it was a good value for the lower price they charged.

We had rooms facing towards the forest, so it was nice and quiet. Arrived in the dark, but could easily check in. The beds were comfy, the bathroom was OK. Fridge, microwave. It was in a good price range. This was what we needed for a one-night stay.

Rooms were a bit small to fit all the luggages in, but managable. AC is close to the bed. Breakfast is mainly bagels and cereals with some fruits and coffee, tea or juice - not a big deal.

they have spent a lot of money renovating the rooms…. the price is less than half all the other hotels in town. the room was awesome clean.

old box spring and mattress. cheep hard foam bulk hotel pillows…. did not sleep well because of the old type mattress and pillows. the sign need to be replaced as it is the same sign for 30 years and makes folks think the place must be trashed (but it isn’t)…please change to modern bedding and get new sign.

Room was very hotel like for a motel, nice tv too which seems to be oddly hard to come by these days in hotels. It’s nice you can drive right up to the door and you get a nice big window.

The room smelled a bit too strong of cleaning products mixed with what I assume is just the smell of an older building, it wasn’t bad exactly, nice to know it’s been cleaned a lot, but when I laid down for the night it kept me up for a little bit until I opened a window. Also a little close to the street so you hear cars in the morning.

The motel is on the town’s main street and easy to find. You can park directly in front of your room. This is a picturesque New England village .Many restaurants and a Shaw’s Grocery are close by. Staff are riendly and helpful . The whole place appears to have been recently renovated. Rooms are tastefully decorated. Bathroom is clean and bright . Mattress is from and pillows are comfortable. We had to listen to our neighbor next door talking loudl in his room and outside our door till about 9:30 .Then all was quiet. Road noise was minimal. Wireless was fast and internet access free. There were enough AC outlets at both bedsides to allow chargers to be plugged in. No USB plugs. There was a large LCD TV with extensive channel selection Appliances included large mini-fridge, microwave, but no coffee maker. (we prefer a small K-cup coffee maker anyway and carry one with us.

Finding the site can be difficult even with GPS because Mass Turnpike exit numbers have been changed and do match my recently updated GPS. You have to just follow route numbers and place names

We felt that at the price we paid the motel was extremely clean! We did not eat breakfast but it looked to be a simple continental breakfast which is fine just to give you something to start your day. The owner was very pleasant at check in and check out. Very calm and relaxed feel there. Yes, it is a motel but we felt it was well taken care of and cleaner than some 4 stars that we have stayed in recently for work and vacation. Easy parking, no noise through walls although the motel was full. Easy access to stores, restaurants and on a main road for ease in getting to other areas.

Nothing to complain about , it totally met our expectations.
