Super 8 by Wyndham Houghton Lake

The location was great and the hotel was well maintained for it's age and very clean. It has a large indoor pool that my teenagers and husband enjoyed. Even though there was other guests around the rooms were quite soundproof. This Super 8 also allows dogs and it's doesn't charge a large fee for them to stay. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of pillows. The staff were nice while asking for extra towels, sheets and blankets we did not have a whole lot of interaction with them.

One of the downfalls was the darker carpet in the hallways and in the rooms. It made it feel smaller and not well lit. As I'm writing this though that carpet might be one of the reasons why it's so soundproof too. I personally do not care for carpet in hotels or motels and I like brighter hallways to see room numbers and to use the keys easier. It will not discourage me for staying there again.

This location has been my go too for the last few years. The pool is open 24 hours, and it’s always clean and comfy. This year the rooms were updated a little more. I always get two rooms when I come because I have a large family. And there has never been an issue to accommodate 6 of us.

This year they were packed with guests because of some thing going on with the water. The sea lamprey trucks were a little off putting. It might scare some people away those things are ugly. It doesn’t have anything to do with this hotel though! The only thing I can say is that a room on the lower floor has terrible curtains . When they are closed all you can see is how many holes are in them and it looks bad. And the garbage outside the side door is always overflowing. Other than that the actual motel is great!!

The property was very convenient. The parking lot was well lit. The front office was clean and staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Great customer service. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Just what we needed.

Really no complaints. The breakfast we like to have eggs but not a major big deal :-) there was enough to choose from without eggs being available.

Easy check in, good location, clean hotel and pool area. Hot tub was not working but a great place to stay in the winter. Will be back again for tip up town next year.

Hot tub and sauna in working condition in the middle of winter would be good. More choices for breakfast would also be nice.

The staff was super friendly. We even left a tablet behind and they called immediately to let us know. We were able to turn around with very little time loss.

Display on heating/ac system controls were scrubbed clean off and it took us a bit to figure out how to use it.

Everything was clean and comfortable we have stayed here multiple times during race season just bummed that the rate could of been lowered a little considering the pool/hot tub had issues.

Extremely bummed we weren’t informed about the hot tub jets being broken until we checked in that was the main reason we booked with you vs ur competition across the street plus rates are usually higher at hotels with pools and hot tubs so would of been nice to receive a discount on the price due to the hot tip and pool area was broke down and technically not really useable. Other then that our stay was perfect

The employees were kind and respectful. The rooms were clean in general and the breakfast was surprisingly good.

Even if most was clean, we had an issue with the small coffee machine in the room. It seems like it hasn't been washed in a while.

The pool being open 24/7, the 3pm check in, and the location.

The breakfast-we understand that it is COVID times but the bagged breakfast had the bare minimum and didn’t even include juice or the option for yogurt or fresh fruit. Also the hot tub was not working. It was warm but not hot and the jets were not working. We also weren’t informed at check in that we needed to get pool towels from then and didn’t know until we got in the pool. There were signs but not on the door to let you know BEFORE you get into the pool area.

The staff that checked my husband and I in, were fantastic! Very friendly and nice. She was super helpful to accommodate us when we told her we had friends coming. And was able to get us rooms next to each other!

We were bummed that the hot tub was not in service.

Nice clean spacious room....great handicap accessible bathroom! Fridge and microwave are handy.

My only complaint is that the motel has only one luggage card and it's very small. Plus a guest had it for virtually the whole time we were there so we were never able to use it.
