Super 8 by Wyndham Portales

Everything ended up being ok. Breakfast was simple but sufficient for me. Ample choices supplied that I could eat.

When I arrived, I stood at the counter and called out for someone for about 10 minutes. I reentered and sounded the door alarm also, before someone came from the back to check me in.. After I made reservations online, I called to check on it. I was told by the clerk, that early check in was $15. When I arrived only 1 hour early, the clerk said it was $20 and didn’t care that I was told it was $15. Only money, but I have NEVER been charged extra for checking in 1 hour early, and the amount was not what was stated. (Kinda ridiculous, 1 hour, really!) They probably do not care about the reviews because there are only 2 hotels in town. The hotel and my stay ended up being fine after all..

Breakfast was a bit lackluster but it was nice that it was provided; the location was very helpful as it was very close to my main destination. Not too far from the main town area, but not too close either, and was rather quiet and peaceful. The room was neat, tidy, and clean, as was the whole building. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The lack of a pool was a disappointment, but that's more my fault than anything for not checking first. Only provided cable TV; I guess that's just how hotels operate but it is a missed opportunity not to provide anything like Netflix or any streaming services. We were given two keycards and by the end of the trip one of them didn't work; not sure if it was like that from the beginning or not. I booked a room with only one bed(which was listed on the website as such), but we were given two; not a big issue.

Supplies were low, (room coffee, creamer). But this is a problem every where you go. Other than that this is a fine place to stay. Clean ,secure, quiet, affordable and a fantastic Thai restaurant just up the road. Went for coffee in town, excellent. ICE CREAM TO DIE FOR. University just up the road for any parents thinking about visiting kids. Easy to access, and easy to get on the road again for any extended road trip. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Good Value.

Train close by. Not too much freight train traffic.

Every time I have been to this location, it is always clean and comfortable. Other super eight I’ve been to, have been rundown, dirty, and uncomfortable. I’ve never felt uncomfortable at this super 8.

Usually they have breakfast, but for some reason this morning they didn’t have breakfast set out. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay.

Everything was great when we stayed. Not a good selection on breakfast due to COVID and not having someone who is food handler certified to fix the other stuff. Not much open in town on the weekends that serve breakfast but we made it work.

The location was perfect for us. Family

Room was at the back of the building with back door locked had a key for the room but that did not open the door as there was a note on the door that said "exit only. " my guest has breathing problems and had a hard time getting the machine into the room.

Our key didn't work for the room 2 times and we kept having to ask them to fix it but after the second time they made sure it didn't happen again. :)

The staff was wonderful. The entire hotel was spotless and well maintained.

The rooms were a bit pricey for the area, and there apparently was a problem with the supplier, so breakfast was pretty limited and disappointing.

Friendly staff

Handicap parking area. Need another ramp for chair next to side door. Ramp at front door was block with car.

Price was very reasonable. Location was good. Staff was very nice and helpful. Room was clean. Bed was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate.

No complaints.
