Lafayette Hotel Marietta

It was nice, quiet, beautiful view, great breakfast. I enjoyed sitting by the river in the evening and in the morning. The furnishings were beautiful. I'd return.

The keys didn't work and we are seniors. Had to walk very far to the other side of the hotel on the 3rd floor. Then had to walk all the way back to the front desk and back again to retry them. That was okay but I'd like to be on a lower floor if possible even if it doesn't have a view of the river. I guess I needed to ask some questions regarding the choice of rooms. My fault. But it was a beautiful hotel and I'd return.

The view was outstanding. Each room is unique and has a personality of it's own. It was unlike any other hotel experience I have had. The staff were friendly and wonderful. It is a piece of living history. There is food and libations in wonderful surroundings right on site. It is a one stop shop for an interesting getaway.

This is really not bad, one complaint and some observations. The satellite service for the television was terrible. Since I did not spend much time in my room other than sleeping and getting ready for the day ahead, I can think of worse things to say. It would be wonderful to see the amenities being better utilized by the locals so that they could be available for more of the day. The Gun Room offers an excellent breakfast but isn't open for dinner since it is hardly used. The lounge is a good place for dinner but it would be nice to have it as just a casual dining area and the Gun Room open with the more high end type of dining or at least family dining.

The Lafayette is a charming historic hotel right on the Ohio River in downtown Marietta, within walking distance of 6-8 good restaurants. The front desk and especially the restaurant staff are eager to please. Their Sunday breakfast buffet is very good.

There is nothing like the charm of an historic hotel, but historic hotels come with different expectations. The hotels were built before the "Super-size me" era, so the rooms and bathrooms are smaller than what you'd find at a hotel built in the last 30 years. And the floors may creak a bit, and not be perfectly level. That's just the way it is. Breakfast is not included, so consider having breakfast at Tonya's Country Kitchen a block away. But do enjoy Lafayette's Sunday breakfast buffet.

I liked that it has been kept as close to its original style as possible, my only complaint was that one TV remote needed batteries and when I stopped by the front desk the keeper said I don't have any and I keep forgetting to get some. The rest of my stay was very nice.

The fact they did not have any AAA batteries for the TV remote. The first day I checked in there was a musty smell but they took care of that pretty quickly. Street noise folks really like the sound of their hot rods.

We loved the historic architecture and lavish feel of the hotel as well as the location on the Ohio River. The antique furniture in the room was very attractive. The view from our room was wonderful, and it was nice to be able to step outside of the hotel and spend time at the riverside park. The restaurant in the hotel and the coffee shop were a pleasant surprise. All the staff was very accommodating and friendly.

We loved everything about the hotel and had a wonderful stay. It is clear that this is a very old building and many efforts seem to be made to keep it looking nice. It is an older building though. The only thing that seemed to need additional attention was the carpeting. Maybe it is because we are at the end of the busy season, but it looks like all the carpeting could use a good cleaning throughout the hotel. Not a big deal but just one little thing that could improve and already wonderful hotel. A room was clean and the bathroom was especially clean.

The location is beautiful and our room was facing the river. The staff was super friendly and helped me find the room with a great bed...I have a bad back and the staff let me see a few rooms before settling in. Each room was unique and lovely. Breakfast coupon is included and covered the traditional breakfast that was delicious. Bonus...there is a Starbucks in the building.

No easy way to get luggage in/out because there are about 5 steps up from ground level to lobby.

The location is outstanding, although old, the hotel is fairly well maintained and certainly exudes the ineffable charm of yesteryear. Staff was outstanding.

Because it is an old hotel, rooms can be on the smaller side compared to modern. However, if you're staying here, what appeals is history, at least in part. So, if the room feels small, get over it.

I love the jazzui tub and how historical the room and river view was it was amazing and a great place to stay and relax for a night away definitely recommend this hotel!Can definitely make memories of a lifetime here. I love it everytime I stay here.Also The breakfast was really good!

Well checking in on time would been perfect at 3 instead of 3:20pm but they where short staffed so I understood.&& Also maybe have the jazzui tub alittle bit more cleaner next time because there was hairs on tub and a woman's toy underneath bed looks like never gets clean but other then that I hate an amazing time.

The room view to the river was very nice. The history and décor were outstanding. We enjoyed the ambiance and the river proximity. Parking was good. The food was very good as well. The shower was excellent.

I have arthritic knees and the location of the room was a long distance from the elevator. I should have inquired more when I made the reservations. The streets were closed for a block party and driving to the parking was very difficult requiring going around two barricades and down two one way streets the wrong direction. Once there, it was OK.

Everything about our stay was above and beyond expectations. The place was clean and lovely. The atmosphere was wonderful. The hotel hospitality was amazing and like no other. We got a flat tire about 5 minutes away. Long story shorter, we weren’t able to change the tire and needed a special tool. We left the car along the road and got a ride. We were late checking in, but the front desk lady was very understanding. The advertised shuttle service was an amazing hotel staff worker who went above and beyond to help us the next morning. We wouldn’t have gotten such wonderful service and help at a modern hotel. This place is a gem.
