Cool Palms Motel

Wayne & Anne are great hosts...helpful, warm & friendly...& the housekeepers were lovely to deal with. The property is kept exceptionally clean & tidy & our room was perfect for our stay. Great little pool tucked away to the side, & a private gazebo area for the smokers. Central to everything & everywhere, whilst sitting just on the edge of the city. Deceiving @ first, but definitely a little gem Will be staying again when we're back in Mackay.

Not a dislike, but room not serviced daily, not really an issue though as all you had to do was pop your used towels outside your room on the outdoor chair, & housekeeping would swap them out for a new lot. Everything was available as long as you caught the housekeepers between 8-11am.

Very friendly staff, great communication prior to arrival. Thank you so much for understanding our circumstances and making time allowances. Beds were comfy, the room was clean. We could see the management are making a go of updating the complex and keeping the outside grounds clean. Good common sense advice about parking to maintain comfort for all guests.

It was a little noisy with traffic,, but the location was very convenient so the traffic noise can't be helped. I'd still pick it for the location.

Great space, lovely & clean. Decent sized bathroom with ample storage. Fully equipped kitchen wth tons of cupboard space (fridge/freezer, microwave, electric frypan, 2 hob plug in cooktop which lives in the cupboard when not in use, pots, bowls, cooking utensils & all the crockery). Seating for 6 at the table, comfortable couch in lounge area, & most importantly...super comfy beds 😊 Great pool & outdoor area. Highly recommend & will definitely book again when we're back in Mackay

Anne and her husband were fantastic. Genuinely happy to help us with whatever we needed. My sister ordered room service breakfast the first 2 mornings of 5 and it was amazing value for money. My husband, our baby and I were able to relax in the ac during the day throughout our stay. Kitchen facilities in the room made our stay very convenient for breakfast and lunch before meeting family for dinner. We would 100% stay again.

Water pressure in the shower was very low and the temperature wouldn't hold. There was night works outside our room Sunday night but that is a council issue and in no way a fault of the stay

The proximity of the Motel is great and it's easy to access Mackays attractions from this as a base. The room had a kitchenette so you could make meals if you preferred eating in etc. The rooms are basic but you have all that's required and they were clean and fresh and great value. Wayne & Anne are great hosts and are great at giving advice on Mackay and what it has to offer. Another bonus is great undercover and decent size parking spaces, especially if you have a rental car and there right outside your door.

NOISE- External main road traffic was clearly heard with emergency sirens and heavy transports, but such is life, it didn't concern us. In terms of noise on the property, we heard nothing that disturbed us.

Since we stayed only one night, the fact that there was minimal kitchen facilities wasn't to bad, and since we were dining in, the motel provided the plates and cutlery we needed upon request. The bathroom wash basin was the only facility for washing the plates, cups and cutlery after use.

The room was clean, neat, spacious, and had a modern kettle. I liked the facilities and the hooks in the bathroom for towels. While it's on a main road, the room was well insulated for noise if the doors were shut. I thought the walls were well-insulated between rooms too. Had a small table and chairs in the room. Laundry price was cheap at $6 and there is a large clothes line area and pegs + laundry basket provided. I had a great stay here.

The host was very helpful and friendly. We had an extra car which he accommodated and lets us park our trailer in another area. Rooms are very clean and we had a renovated kitchenette. Even the older style cupboards had been modernised which was a great touch. Large family table . Being so close to the traffic lights on a busy highway thought it might get noisy but was very quiet. Beds were comfy , shower had good pressure…. For the money it was great value

For the price I paid for the room, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it actually was. Very clean, spacious room with nice decor, a Tv, fan and good air con. There is also undercover parking right in front of the rooms, and a small pool.

Location… it was right off a busy road… it wasn’t super noisy at night but also not very walkable. Did find a nice restaurant option really close at a nearby hotel.

Right on the A1 Bruce Hwy and close to all things. Comfy beds. Good aircon, great location for eating out and it's the perfect place to stop over just for the night when heading north. We arrived just after 5pm and left 4am the next day with 2 young kids in tow. Everything was as it needed to be for a quick overnighter. Kids loved having all the beds in one room and the Motel manager was pleasant and good for recommendations on the area.

Mackay hoons banging off from traffic lights up the road a little, this motel like most in the area is on the HWY and the noise is understandable a bit higher. Not the motels fault and you have to take that into consideration when booking.
