Mercure Hotel Hamburg am Volkspark

The room was a comfortable size. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice with lots of room. The bus stop was very close and so it made transportation to anywhere very nice. (About 30 mins to go into Hamburg downtown.) There is even a night bus that we took for our 3am journey to the airport. (Thank goodness for G maps which shows me which bus to take.) We didn't want to pay for breakfast at the hotel (costly for what little we eat) but there is Lidl just down the road a few bus stops away.

The bathroom was nice but it was an open shower (half piece of glass) that is very common in Europe and so water would get everywhere with those in my group not used to showering very "delicately". There is no mini fridge. That would've been nice.

I stayed in the hotel just for a day. The staffs were helpful on sharing the location details when phone. The room was spacious and clean. We were offered complementary drinks in the evening, which we liked very much!

The location is a bit far from the city center / Hamburg HBF / central station. One need to travel almost for 35-40 mins via public transport (Bus - X3) to reach the location. The location is peaceful and quiet but does not have much shops or restaurants around except just one or two.

Warm welcome from a gentleman (Belgium origin?!) at the reception. Room with plenty of space. Free bottle of water. Kettle and tea and coffee in the room. Clean. Quiet. Good bed. Good wifi. We had a bath in the room which was nice. Free parking. Close to the highway. You could say that the furniture and interior is dated but it is still quality furniture so I would say the room has character. Big window which let in plenty of light. There is also an extra door between the hallway and the room for extra sound proofing. Lovely stay.

If I have to mention something... the elevator sometimes has a mind of its own. :)

Free parking and free wifi. There were coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Close to the Barclays Arena, where we went to a concert. Friendly staff at check in. Several buses to the city center.

It looks a little dated (but clean and comfortable so not too much of a big deal for us). We wrestled with the curtains. They are slightly small for the room and didn’t close well because they weren’t attached at one side, making them slide all over the rails.

Quiet neighbourhood. Parking on-site available. Bus link to city centre. Helpful, polite and attentive staff. Excellent variety at breakfast. Clean bathroom, strong shower, great night’s sleep on good mattress. Staff advised on veggie places to eat & sourced a brew house serving vegan food, and how to get there and back. Printed out details. We went and it was fantastic. Would book hotel again without hesitation.

A very minor point to make. When we first arrived at the check in desk the staff member was busy with a couple of things, online, on the phone. We were ignored for a while until she was finished. A suggestion- just say “welcome, I’ll be with you shortly…” and we would have appreciated this warmer greeting and understood.

The room was spacious, and as welcoming as a room where you want to stay should look like. I also have to mention the cleanliness of the rooms. The front desk staff is very friendly & helpful, the bed room is clean & well function. The hotel have free parking space. The breakfast is great.

There was a big fly flied around the restaurant and stayed on pastrys, we told restaurant's staff, he's just laugh & said it's protien & no action.The next morning that fly came back again. So we did not touch the pastry at all. The third day we did not see, may be his life is expired...!

1.Breakfast was great! a little expensive but very tasty. 2.Clean! can't emphasize that enough, no smelly rooms/ bathrooms …all good! (well done folks!) 3.Location for us was a little tedious, since we needed to take the bus no3 to the center of town, it took 37 minutes or so. 4.Oh, almost forgot the room was quiet. Always had a good nights rest after all that sightseeing.

All was perfect. Very helpful staff. Very clean. Breakfast great. Easy to get downtown. Close to the bus stop. But most importantly, great value. And a great surprise that for the kid of 13 is free of charge. Would come again for sure.

Just the pillows were too soft and out of shape. But we found an extra one in the drawer.

Calm location, easy access to city center using public transport, walking distance to Barclays Arena. The room was quiet and clean, furnished with desk and office chair too, so ideal for doing some work if necessary. The hotel offers rich breakfast until 10:30 !

The Wi-Fi could be stronger. The service and the staff during the breakfast were quite slow. Some hot meals were almost cold.
