Hotel Moguntia

It was much nicer than I expected - since it was one of the cheaper options I expected it to be worse. It was an easy walk from the Hauptbahnhof. The room was simple but pleasant. It was clean. There were soap and towels in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The room overlooked a terrace where it's possible to hang out anytime (which other people used for a while in the evening). The best part was the staff, though. I booked the hotel partly because they mentioned a printer being available. It wasn't a self-serve option like I thought it would be, but the person on staff was very helpful and I came away with a stack of important papers. I specifically asked for a room with good internet, and in my room (on the first floor) the internet was just fine for streaming.

It would have been nicer with more power outlets or maybe a different room arrangement. I had to move the desk to be able to plug in my computer and sit at the desk. Not a big deal though.

Service was great, friendly and helpfull staff. We had a spacious and very clean room/bathroom. The room was at the front of the building (spacious balcony too!). The neighbourhood is so quiet we actually had no trouble with traffic/noise and we slept great, also because the room got very dark with all the shades closed. The bed was very nice! Breakfast was good, with enough different choices without being extremely fancy. It's not a luxury hotel, but for this price, it's more than you'd expect. Location is perfect: just a small stroll takes you right into the centre.

Just a small detail. There was a used ashtray on the balcony. As non-smokers, that was a bit of an inconvenience. I'm sure if we had mentioned it, the friendly staff would have cleaned it, as everything else was very tidy. We only were there for one night and didn't care to go ask someone.

The receptionist is friendly and speaks good English. The area of the hotel is really quiet both during the day and at night. Due to the pandemic, the hotel currently doesn't serve breakfast, but they do provide you with a map showing both grocery shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the main station and 15-minute walk to the center of the town. There's also a tram and bus station a 2-minute walk from the hotel.

The windows in the rooms face the apartments on the opposite side of the street, so people can easily look into your room. There are curtains to cover the windows, but they are pretty short and you can't cover all of the windows.

Nice budget hotel with nice rooms and facilities. Staff was very nice as well. Rewe grocery store only a block away and was very convenient. Only reason I did not rate it excellent just because it was more a budget hotel.

Location was in a different direction than the Mitte nad was about 900m from the train station, but I knew that going in and it was reflected in the good price.

Nada was on Reception when we arrived. She was very friendly and helpful. You can get free tea and coffee and while you can't take the cups up to your rooms, the staff (Nada in this instance) happily made the drinks for us and brought them out for us to enjoy in the enclosed terrace area. Rooms were spacious and clean and we enjoyed our stay there.

The location of the hotel was very good. It is close to both the train station and the city center. The staff was super friendly and they responded to my needs, e.g. I arrived at the hotel later than my expectation due to the delay of my train, yet they were very helpful and they were present for me to leave my bags.

The only thing I can complain about was the comfort of the bed. It was comfortable but I wanted it to be a bit larger. Other than that, everything was very good.

The room was clean ,warm and comfortable. Breakfast good, friendly staff, quiet location but not far from public transport (get the tram to Lessingstraße.)

There was a typo in the code we had been sent for the hotel key box (as reception was not open at the time we arrived.) So we had to ring up and ask what it should be.

The hotel looks quite old from the outside. We were pleasantly surprised when we checked-in. Our room was spacious and you could see that it had been renovated. Very clean! All in all, very good value for money.

The breakfast choices could be improved. We were not convinced and took our breakfast elsewhere.

Nice and simple hotel which is very easy to reach on foot from Mainz Train station and the old town. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast had decent choice of food and drinks. I was arriving after reception working hours but self check-in was very simple. Lady which serves breakfast and the receptionist were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Our room was mixed up on the first night, and because of corona the office was closed by the time we arrived due to a huge traffic jam. So, we stayed in the room we had the key for, and the next morning the sweet lady in the office fixed the mix up, comped our parking in their garage and had a tray of breakfast sent up. WONDERFUL service!
