Ulun Ubud Resort - CHSE Certified

The staff are lovely and helpful. The view from the room and shared areas is amazing, worth looking at every day for the whole week. Good location to get into Ubud Central quickly. Good options for tours with their drivers very nice and flexible.

If you get easily puffed in the humidity with a big stair climb, be sure to ask how far down your room is. We decided to stay in a very far-down room because the view was good and the round tub was excellent, but we got pretty hot going up a lot of steps! Obviously it's a good trade-off-- you need to be on the side of a steep hill to get those amazing views-- but if you are not in great shape, be sure to ask how many steps you need to climb to get from your room to the lobby. Definitely not a reason not to go to this excellent resort-- merely a reason to ask for detail if you are reluctant.

The place is absolutely beautiful. The location is in a calm area, one off road from a busy street, in the middle of the jungle but with the comfort of clean rooms with beautiful views, lovely swimming pool area, good service, and the list goes on. The restaurant food was also probably the best we had in whole Bali.

A small good to know: be aware that at night you will hear usual jungle noises (frogs and so). We loved these, made the experience even better and immersed in nature. However for a sensitive sleeper, you may want to take earplugs with you.

Exceptional location quiet and peacful but close enough to the centre of Ubud. Best view in ubud! Exceptional staff, very helpful and welcoming. Aldi was the best!! Beautiful rooms with amazing views. The restaurant is fantastic, breakfast has a large selection and all very tasty. Lunch and dinner menus are also delicious!

Some people will be put off this hotel by the steps. It is a small price to pay for the beautiful surroundings. Would not recommend this hotel if you have difficulty walking up/down stairs.

Overall it was very good stay and we slept well during each night. The service was excellent and nice, food was great and it was quiet and relaxing. I would stay again.

Steep going up and down which is wouldn’t be good for disabled people or people who are not in shape. Also, the portions at the resort restaurant are relatively quite small compared to the price paid for them. Lastly, location is amazing but for people who want to stay in Ubud city center this would be too far, unless you have your own vehicle or don’t mind using the free shuttle going 3 times a day only.

We loved everything about this property! The people are so friendly and helpful, the rooms were gorgeous and clean and very comfortable large beds and the food was incredible breakfast in particular was very yummy!

more water could have been provided as you can not drink the water from the taps, so either bigger bottles of more each day would have been great.

this place is truly the jewel of Ubud. very close to plenty of markets, restaurants, and attractions. the staff are so friendly, great spacious room, truly amazing foods offered and all at a very reasonable price. this place will make your stay in Bali super special. the spa was truly great as well. our room had a private swimming pool which was great and we definitely enjoyed this hotel the most during our honeymoon. prices for any services in this hotel (Spa, foods and bevs, laundry) very decent and reasonable compared to other places.

there are plenty of stairs to go down near the pool area or the river. if you don’t have the physical strength you may find it a bit tiring. nothing else to complain about!

The staff were incredible! Nothing was too much trouble, and everyone was so accommodating with our toddler (including arranging for babysitting on multiple occasions). Our family suite was spacious and we loved the outdoor sitting area - all of the rooms have magnificent views of the river canyon and watching sunset there was beautiful. We ordered from the restaurant on several occasions and enjoyed all of the dishes (Indonesian and western). The pool was beautifully maintained never busy. Yes there are alot of stairs but that is part of the charm (and also part of the deal with this part of Ubud).

What an immaculate experience at Ulun Ubud Resort! It was one of the most beautiful resorts we've ever stayed in. The view is breathtaking from the room we had (which was at the bottom of the complex). It was a very relaxing atmosphere with a calm vibe and very little noise. The staff and service were homely and helpful. Housekeeping kept things clean daily with free soft drinks and water daily. The location was good, just far away enough and a 10 minute scooter to Ubud centre. We loved the robes we got with the room as well the surprise outdoor bath on the balcony (which was amazingly clean!) being surrounded by nature this gorgeous in the bath was such a treat. Perfection. Probably our best stay in Bali. Do not miss if you get a chance to book it, it's older and has good history so they know what they are doing.

We were really nitpicking for this one but wanted to give a glowing review with some truths about the place. I'd come back in a heartbeat though. Things to Note: 1. Breakfast could be better, but it was good nevertheless, it was a semi buffet with each person getting one menu item. We wish there were more selections of tea and coffee though. 2. Come ready for steps. There's a bucket load of them. Especially in the lower rooms and to get in the pool. If you can't climb stairs well, I'd reconsider. 3. Some banana lounges were a tad uncomfortable. 4. You're in the thick of nature, there will be little creatures every now and then but they were rarely spotted in the room. Harmless geckos are really cute and can't really be helped if you're staying in this kind of location in Bali.

From arrival welcoming smiles to waves on departure, we had a wonderful week at the resort. It’s location on ridge is stunning and feels cocooned from the busy-ness of Ubud yet just a 5min drive or 20min walk. Staff were fabulous, breakfast choices more than adequate, many options for quiet corners to sit - and we had lunch/dinner several times with good menu. Yes, there are steps, many steps, to villas and lower level pool/bar BUT small price to pay for location, views and relative privacy of each unit. We stayed in a deluxe suite which on same level as arrival/reception so just a few steps.....great view down over property and valley, sharing a pool area with 9 other rooms. The bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom area spacious with rain shower. On site spa service excellent. We highly recommend Ulan Ubud and thank everyone for their attentive care.

We enjoyed our stay and have nothing negative to say.

Ulun Ubud is the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. Attention to aesthetic detail in every aspect from the architecture to the gorgeous tropical gardens creates a wonderful atmosphere of calmness and harmony with nature. The location is stunning, looking out across a tropical rainforest valley. We were under the impression that the resort was within a forest, some distance from the town centre, but in fact it fronts onto a built up area and it's possible to stroll into the town centre, or take the shuttle which runs twice daily. There is a large supermarket within walking distance. The deluxe room is very spacious with a heavenly view from the balcony. There is a stunning artwork by a contemporary master in the room we stayed in. The bed - extra large and so relaxing! Exceptional staff are kind, friendly and always ready to help. The included breakfast is lavish and everything is fresh and delicious. Such a peaceful, welcoming place, we felt instantly at home and would love to return very soon.

We loved everything, but in the interests of balance here are two points: 1. The hot water is plentiful but extremely hot, I received a scald on one leg which will take a while to heal - something to be careful of. 2. Because the accommodation is terraced into a steep hillside, there are a lot of very steep steps. These are irregular in width and there are not that many handholds/rails. This might be an issue for people wanting to access the lower pool. There is a flight of wooden steps leading up to the breakfast/restaurant area, but this has a handrail and is much more accessible. There is accommodation on the top level without steps, so you might like to enquire if mobility is a consideration.
