Casa Tortugas Boutique Hotel - CANCUN Hidden Gem

Alex Sr, Chris & Alex Jr - absolutely lovely hosts. The family run hotel is set in a peaceful location just off the lagoon. The hosts greet you when you walk in, provide you with tips and recommendations. Our room was lovely and the view? Gorgeous. They opened up the rooftop for a couple of hours so we could watch the sunset - amazing. Honestly, I come back annually to Mexico to visit my partners family - I think when we come to Cancun, we'll keep now coming back here ❤️ P.s. the beds are so comfy, it's like sleeping on clouds!

Just a heads up more than anything else. There's only one place near the hotel that serves breakfast that's in walking distance - it's tourist price and way more than it should be. Talk a bus from the hotel and within 5 mins or so, you'll have better options 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Watching the sunset by the swimming pool was amazing! the rooftop bar was also a highlight!

The room was super spacious! but it needs some minor renovations… there was a leak in the bathroom, the faucets were looked damaged/old, and the swimming pool looked dirty. it was also very far from everything so if you want to have a quick dinner it’s not so easy…

I really liked the location honestly it was great and convenient. The place was very calm and not over crowded it’s really nice. There is a money exchange right in front of the hotel, a gas station across the street, the bus station right around the corner, and everything was super close like grocery stores, malls, restaurants with the help of the public transportation which is only 12 pesos per person. Another great thing is Uber eats is available and honestly I had no issues, only good things to say.

The only thing I don’t like is that will specifically in my room was we only had 3 pots and pans combined, no type of napkins or paper so will have to buy your own, the stove light didn’t work, oven was old and not well maintained so wouldn’t recommend using it. You don’t have a blender which I thought was a basic thing to have available. I would only recommend to better the quality of their kitchen amenities and the quantity

It's reasonably priced and if you know what you are getting into and do some prep you could have a decent budget Cancun holiday here. Right across the road from Isle of Mujeres ferry - we did a great day trip from there. Buses to downtown are frequent and cheap. I really don't understand Cancun and I don't think I'll return but if you rented a car this place could really work as alternative to the giant and very expensive all-in resorts down the road

Our first impression could not have been worse. Try to stock up with food supplies before arrival. Arrived by plane at night and the shop across the road looked like a scene from The Last of Us as guests struggled to get supplies for breakfast. Room was pretty charmless - like something from a witness protection program. I wanted to cry. Next morning things improved when we checked out the pool and the great rooftop bar and terrace. Only restaurant within walking distance is expensive and nothing special.

The room was bright, clean, and elegant. The whole building is beautiful. It's in a nice quiet area, with a gorgeous sunset view over the lagoon. The pool area is pretty and quiet. Johnathan at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The coffee in the lobby in the mornings was tasty.

The quietness of the location means that it takes a little more effort to get to stores and restaurants. We walked to the Super Chedraui a couple of times to pick up breakfast and lunch items-about a 30 minute walk to the main Hotel Zone. An Uber ride to downtown is about $10-15 USD, the bus is about $2. We walked to Crudo one night, which was great, then took the bus to town the next night to eat at Patravali Indian Cuisine, which was also tasty. We took Uber back from there. The bar upstairs was never open while we were here, which was a bit disappointing, but we had a little of our own wine left, so we sat on our own balcony and watched the sun set, so it's hard to complain.

This hotel is exceptionally beautiful and not a big hotel bunker like many other hotels in Cancun. It is tastefully designed and the pool is lovely. The family that runs it is very friendly and welcoming and the other staff is also very helpful. We were given very good food and activity tips which we were very grateful for. There is always someone available to help with any queries, even via Whatsapp. From there, you can take the bus to the "party area" for a cheap price. In my opinion, this hotel is especially suitable for those who prefer a quiet hotel a bit away from the crowds.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Tortugas thanks to Cristina, Alex and their amazing employees ❤️ We were given an upgraded suite as the junior one did not suit us. I recommend booking a suite with view. Everyone was taking care of us and whenever we needed something we could ask through a communication group which was super convenient. We were amazed by the kindness of everyone over there and having our own privacy is a double tump up too. This is a small hotel way better for us than the resorts which populate the coast. The pool is not deep but quite long so you can really swim. The location close to Isla Mujeres ferry is also a must. Finally our suite was clean often and we really trust the employees so it was really a relaxing stay.

Can’t see anything which was annoying. Just bring your mosquito spray and your stay will be perfect.

The ambiance and the great customer service. Ivan, the concierge was excellent! He was very kind and accommodating. He gave me great suggestions for nearby activities and restaurants and he also gave me instructions on how to use the local bus. He works very hard! I hope that he gets a promotion or raise! The room was beautiful and perfect for a couple or solo traveler. The hotel is located just behind the main rode so there was not a lot of noise to distract my sleep. The hotel's design was very romantic and traditional. The infinity pool was the perfect size and very relaxing. I wish the hotel had a restaurant inside but the great alternative option was that you get a free drink at the nearby restaurant called Krudo. It was only 6 mins walking distance. Overall I would stay here again and I think most people would enjoy it if you don't want to be in the middle of a lot of noise.

I think it would've been perfect if it was about $60-$70 USD less in total for the reservation. I think there should be a different option for the mandatory key card deposit because I did not want to spend $50 cash for my deposit, but it was returned back to me without any problem. Sometimes the key card would not work properly/quickly, but that was only a minor nuisance. The toilet has a very weak flush, so I was worried it wouldn't flush each time I had to use it. Haha

I likes everything! the apartments are great! quite big and spacious! and the hotel is amazing, the pool are is sooo nice, the view is surreal! and there’s always space in the longes as there’s never a lot of people in there! the rooftop bar is also great! the staff were always so helpful and friendly! this is the perfect place to stay if you want a nice and calm and relaxed holiday instead of busy resorts! bare in mind no food included not even breakfast which is a shame but I already knew it when I booked it! there’s supermarket 2 min walk to buy essentials and playa Tortugas just across the street! also cool that the ferry to Isla Mujeres is in that place so everything very handy! bus stop also 2 min and always bus driving past every couple of min that can take you to downtown cancun / Zona Hotelera! bare in mind that there isn’t many restaurants within walking distance! so if you’re planning on going out for meals you may have to get the bus or taxi which after certain hour is more advisable!

the only downside on this property was the shower! the water was pretty much cold all the time, sometimes would start really hot but after 5 min was cold, which isn’t great when there’s 3 or 4 of us in the apartment to have shower! other than that can’t say anything else!

Wow... this place was stellar. I used to live in Cancun for 8 years, so for our visit to the family we wanted to be in a good location. Little did we know that not only the location is stellar, but that the property itself is stunning. key highlights: - Quiet place - Near to all the good stuff in HZ and safe public transport (bus) - Sunsets by the pool (or rooftop!) - Pool temperature, it was Jan and the pool temp was perfect - Room size and amenities, great - Comfy bed - Friendly and warm service - Overall the property is so pretty to look at, the quality of the finishes is photo worthy

- I loved it all, my only small suggestion would be for the room to have a bit more life/decor in the Kitchen area. Although completely useful and good size, the kitchen style did not fit the rest of the apartment - Cleaning every 3 days was a bit hard to schedule - Mosquito nets missing, this was not a biggy as there were no mosquitos due to the season, but might be a challenge in another season
