Hotel Nova Sintra

+ very kind and helpful staff, + breakfast is the same as in the photos (As a vegan, I could eat vegetables, fruits, seeds and plant milk for my muesli. My partnet is not vegan, he liked breakfast and could eat more. We both really enjoed terrasse with view on "Castelo dos Mouros"), + good location, + everything was clean, the room had a very high ceiling, which made it more spacious, + free private parking near hotel for free (first you park somewhere in the city (we found it quite difficult), then you go to check in, ask for the key and information about this parking lot, come back - park your car and use this place throughout your stay) .

Mr. Rui and Bernardo were super helpful, especially regarding our request for parking. They had clear instructions to reach it and also helped us with the heavy luggage into the property. The terrace was lovely with plenty of seats to enjoy breakfast with good weather, as well as the view of the Moorish Castle, day and night. Breakfast was great. Mr. Rui also helped us regarding best time to visit the Pena Palace and how to best reach it. He also gave us a great tip for a hiking trail down from the Palace to the historical center, making our day trip even more exciting! Thank you for everything!

From start to finish this was truly a splendid stay. The hotel is very close to the train station. Walkable for sure although i did not use it. We booked 3 rooms and one was with a terrace. The terrace did not offer a view but was a great place to hang out which we did often. Rooms are clean and the breakfast makes this place seem so homely. Add to that Rui the owner and it is a truly winning combination. He gives you all guidance on what to see and how to get there. There are lots of small restaurants close by and some of them are open till late. There is parking very close to the property but I don't think it is guaranteed and would not want to put Rui on the spot. Reach out to him directly because he is so friendly and being a local he is privy to nuances of the area that only a local can give. I would stay here over Lisbon and in this hotel without a doubt.

This little hotel is perfectly placed to explore Sintra and Lisbon! It’s located close to the train station and about 15 minutes walk to the historic centre. But if you’re feeling like eating closer to the hotel, there are a few good restaurants within ~2 mins walk from the hotel. The staff are lovely and the hotel is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is great. We only stayed here for a few days but the terrace is lovely and I would have used it more on a longer holiday. We also had somewhere to park the car.

There was nothing to dislike. There are stairs to the hotel but the owners warn about this on the advert.

The hotel is located near the train station of Sintra and was easy to find. For the check-in it is easiest to park in front of the hotel and get a parking ticket for an hour (0,8€ for 1h). Free parking lot within walking distance that you get directions to after check-in. Rui is the most wonderful host! He is very caring and gives lots of good and honest advice! When the palaces and parks were closed due to a workers’ strike, he already let us know in the morning that there is talk of a strike and kept us updated throughout breakfast! He also recommends good places to visit and eat inside and outside of Sintra! Since we had to reschedule our visits to the palaces and parks for the next day, we were able to leave our luggage and car at the hotel even after check-out! The room was very comfortable, clean, well-cared for with a new shower and lovely views of the surrounding area. The bed was comfortable and the A/C worked very well, too! The hotel is very quiet and breakfast had a good selection of bread/toast, coffees/hot chocolate, cereals, fruits, juices, warm breakfast, etc! We really enjoyed our stay and think it was a really good value for money there. We can recommend this hotel and will definitely come back!

Everything was perfect!

Breakfast was generous and there is a good spread of food. Location is not bad but not nearer the historic city centre (about 1 km away) where most of the action takes place. There are many other hotels there. But location is perfect for those arriving at the Sintra train station as it is less than 100m away - probably the closest. Room was neat but looked old and spartan. Host (Rui) is fantastic. Very helpful. Felt very assured at check-in when he gave some relevant info and then his personal mobile and said "I am available to you 24 hours in case you should ever need me!" Nice patio where you can get some sun or enjoy the shade under a huge tree. You can see the Castle of The Moors up on the hill in the distance and there's a sense of accomplishment when you sit at the patio and realised you just climbed the hill and those stone walls earlier (if you went there of course). Try spotting the hotel from up there.

The tight space in the bedroom and bathroom.

Great location, close to the station for travel to the sights. Excellent breakfast and lovely to enjoy outside on the terrace. Welcoming, friendly staff and a well stocked bar offering. Very quiet room. Fast, reliable wifi and excellent air con. Comfy bed.

Room a little more snug than expected, especially the bathroom but fine as a base for exploring gorgeous Sintra. Getting in and out of the hotel is via a steep set of stairs - just something to be aware of. Rugs in the room in need of a deep clean.

The location, close to the historic centre. The breakfasts were outstanding. The old feel of the house and the patios.The owner, Rui, is the most helpful and charming host. Gives very good information about Sintra. Very comfortable hotel, run very efficiently.

The bathroom we had could use a bit of an update. But overall the room was great. The parking is not easy as you need to ask Rui. But once you know where to park, his explanations were superb.

The hotel was located close to the train station and centre of the town so amenities were very accessible. It was very nicely decorated, exceptionally clean and tidy and well laid-out. The terrace at the front of the hotel benefited from being high up above the hurly-burly of the main street and enjoyed a beautiful view of the Castelo de Mouros high above the town. The owner of the hotel welcomed us on our arrival, helped with our luggage and explained where we could find all the local amenities and attractions. He was always immaculately dressed but casual and his manner was always helpful, very attentive and professional. He spoke English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. The only other member of staff we met was a cleaner who cleaned and tidied our room to a high standard. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, which was served as a buffet.

Nothing to dislike

Rui was the hostess with the mostess. Extremely hospital, caring, attentive, helpful and kind. He gave you helpful tips do transportation, the area, and about restaurants. every morning and afternoon he made sure to individually check in with every guest. The property is very well taken care of and Rui is very proud of his establishment which shows in the way he cares for it. Comfortable rooms that are clean and disinfected. The property has local wines and beers for purchase and the breakfast was delicious. Best decision we made was to have breakfast at the hotel. The balcony has spectacular views of Sintra and very well located. Close to Sintra station which you can use to get the busy towards tourist attractions. Across from hotel are delicious Indian restaurant and bar. Our favorite place in the last 6 countries we have visited.

Nothing. Everything was exactly what we needed. If I had to pick something, there are a set of flight of stairs to go up to the property. Bit if you don’t like stairs and hills, Sintra is not your destination.
