Gran Versalles

This was the second time I stayed at this hotel. The location is perfect: good neighborhood, restaurants and supermarkets nearby, few steps to the metro station and a few minutes walk to Colon and Serrano. The room I got this time was superb - probably a suite (although I had reserved a standard duble). It had a living room, a bedroom, and a huge bathroom. Everything superclean.

The staff at the reception is professional, but some extra smile would be appreciated. Given the level of the room, not having the possibility of preparing coffee or tea was surprising. Wifi could be faster.

Great location and very nice staff. The checkin and checkout were smooth and the receptionists were very nice. The room was very good.

A lady working at the bar in the evening was very mean. I asked if I can have a tea and she said the bar is closed while I saw she was still serving a group of people sitting and chatting. It was 10:45pm when I wanted to order while The bar usually close by 11:0pm

The location of the hotel is perfect, it's like 50 meters from the Alonso Martinez metro stop and 300/400 from Bilbao, so you can jump on the train and get into the city downtown in, like, ten minutes. Breakfast is good, lots of things you can eat, the staff is really kind and the cleanliness of the rooms is excellent. For this price, you can't ask better options than these! My parents and my brother went to this hotel before I did, and they both highly recommended it. Now I also highly recommend it to you.

The room was beautiful, even though we had booked a room with a double bed, and instead we found two - for goodness sake, comfortable - single beds pushed together. We didn't ask to change the room because we had already received a message from Booking that told us we could ask for a double bed but it wasn't sure it would have been given to us, it all depended from the availability of it. So this isn't the hotel's fault, but finding the two single beds pushed together was a little disappointing upon entering the room. Also, we were at the first floor and unfortunately the room was a bit noisy, you could hear the cars passing by at night. Just writing this here so that management can fix this detail and make the guests' staying in Madrid more comfortable.

Conveniently located near metro and bus stations, it enables simple access to majority of points of interests. Check-in was easy and quick, despite being late at night, they were in fact expecting us and apparently we were given a room upgrade. Rooms are as shown, spacious enough, clean and regularly maintained and cleaned. Bed was comfy with enough pillows. TV was attached on movable pedestal so we could move it around according to our needs. Breakfast was tasty and varied enough. Checking-out was also quick and efficient, so all in all we were very pleased with our stay.

Breakfast hall could be a bit overcrowded during weekends, so you might have to wait a bit for free table.

- Shower gel & shampoo had a low quality for a 4-star hotel - Pillows seemed a bit uncomfortable - At our arrival we felt a strange smell coming from the bathroom, but it was probably due to the fact that water hadn't been used for some time; we had absolutely no issue with the smell in the following days

Initially we did not get the breakfast buffet with the hotel, but when we saw the buffet, we were impressed with the food options, freshness and efficiency. We had a quiet floor and our room was located in the back (we requested a quiet room), and were happy it was quiet for a good night's sleep. The location was close to everything and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of tourists.

The doors to the hotel room are close to other hotel rooms, so when guests arrive, it almost sounded like they were entering our room.

This hotel was nuch better than what I expected. I had to book during an emergency trip to Madrid the night before. Everything I knew was full so I booked here. The place was pretty, rooms were super comfortable.

The staff was super rude since we arrived. We arrived early and asked them if a room was ready before time so we could rest to let us know. They front desk woman told us in a very bad tone that we should have booked from the night before. We were cold in the room and asked for blnkets and they told us to turn off the AC. We had to begg the to bring us blankets to the room. The staff was very rude at all times.

The hotel's location is excellent, in a nice neighborhood and withe easy access to the city center. We enjoyed walking in the area looking at shops and restaurants. The breakfast was very good. The room size was very good and the beds very comfortable.

The drain in the shower was not draining properly to the point it could have overflowed. When I reported it to the front desk I expected a better answer showing some concern and an offer to send someone to take care of it, but I didn't get that. Hopefully they took care of it after we checked out.

The reception staff was kind, friendly, and helpful. The bathroom was renovated (I cannot say the same for the room furniture), and the location is perfect to go everywhere by metro or walking. The lobby is modern and you can enjoy drinks.

The room was too dark, with only a small window. Besides that, the room was too hot even for February with the heating off and the window open. The breakfast was a continental standard one, but I was waiting for something different due to the fact that we were in Spain, where the cheese and Jamon are cheap and good. I would say a good value for the money, but maybe for my second time in Madrid, I will look for another option.
