Hotel Pigalle

Hotel is centrally located in town, but we found it hard to find (partly because you have to drive on the trolley tracks to get to hotel) The first room was very small, but we upgraded and the second room was more spacious and comfortable. The hotel itself is nice, and the restaurant is nice too. Although Hotel staff try hard to help, they lack the experience to be able to give enough information to actually make it to the hop on hop off, or to the parking structure that is a 5 min walk from the hotel (both are not far from the hotel). There is a lot of public transportation and shopping around the hotel.

No parking at the hotel, and there is a lot of construction in Gothenburg that makes driving in Gothenburg difficult. Because of the construction Google maps could not get me to the parking structure. Not understanding the room size would be a problem during booking (room too small to manage our luggage).

The hotel is very charming and unique in its style. The breakfast is top notch and they have an amazing rooftop terrace! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Locationwise it’s great as it is within the city center just next to the central station.

There were a few minor inconveniences such as a construction site right below my window which was quite loud in the morning. Also the rooms are very small but perfect for solo travellers. Be aware that the bathroom has no door (just curtains) which makes it appropriate only for solo travellers or couples. The light in the bathroom is also very dim. Furthermore there is a very strong parfume smell in the hallway which made me nauseous. One last thing I didn’t like was the carpet flooring because in my opinion this is generally unhygienic.

The ambiance of the hotel was really charming... dark and moody, fragrant, and full of art to catch your eye. The breakfast buffet was fabulous as was the environment of the dining room. Loved the decor of our room... wallpaper, lots of layered linens, radio, full blackout curtains, lots of fun toiletries. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

We had a room that was so tiny that there really wasn't a place to put two suitcases (107).... and the bathroom smelled like sewer gas. We didn't ask to be moved so obviously it wasn't a huge deal.... but if we were staying longer I would have requested a different room.

Location was excellent, just in the heart of the city, close to everything, and still nice quite inside the hotel, no city noise. Rooms were very nice decorated, old style. Really nice Breakfast was great Staff was friendly and very helpful. The last day we had to leave early, before breakfast time started. The staff offered us a breakfast box to bring along.

The first room we got, was like a shoe box, very small, even though we had booked a bigger room. The small double-bed was right up against the wall with a big window, After a bad first night, we asked to change another room, which was much better and spacious.

I have travelled a lot but this hotel was a perfect fit for me. The location is the first good thing- in the center but not in the main street. The whole vibe and style was so special, even the scent all over the hotel should be noticed- i would use it even in my home. The room and the bed were so comfortable. Favourite was the 4th floor bar. Food was fantastic and the drinks were all you want to have when you want perfect service by excellent waitresses/waiters. Everybody was helpful in the reception and everything was clean and nice. The whole vibe in the rooms and bars were something so different in a good way- i felt like i was in Paris. And the lift was even talking to you- that was fun 😀 So i can not wait to come again and stay longer!

The location was perfect - right in the middle of the city, but with no noise from traffic or trams. The breakfast was incredible. The bar was also great, and the whole hotel was beautifully decorated. I personally loved the lift! The rooms were comfortable and overall we loved the hotel. On the whole the staff were very friendly and helpful too. I would definitely stay here again.

My room was next to a store room and one morning I was woken up early by a lot of noise for about half an hour. There's music played throughout the hotel in the corridors, and this could come on any time from 8am so getting a lie in if you're a light sleeper could be an issue. I would have appreciated the option of a kettle in the room, although you can get hot water from the coffee machine at the bar on the ground floor so not a big issue.

The staff was extremely nice, they turned everything into a better experience. Really, so kind, many thanks to the people at the reception. The Hotel does have its unique Charme, the uniforms worn by the staff are so tasteful, too.

Unfortunately, when we were there, the heating in some rooms was broken at 0 degrees Celsius outside, ours kept going on and off, which was fatal as we had a cold. Also, there were construction works right in front of the building. But these might be temporary problems. I guess it’s a great hotel for less noise sensitive folks than us - and must be really nice with a good temperature in the rooms. We received free soft drinks and a refund of some of the money, so we were totally ok with it in the end, even though we‘d happily have paid the full price and more for a quiet and warm room. 😌 With some temperature improvements in the future plus the construction works gone, it will surely be a great hotel again, and especially great staff.

Hotel Pigalle was heaven on the Gothenburg earth. Everything was sublime, from the first encounter at the reception to a blissful night in the hotel room, which was full of beauty & pleasure. A divine place for a lover of antique books and work of art for interior decoration. The room and its surroundings were carefully and heartfully designed to satisfy an aesthetically minded customer. To top it all up, the breakfast was a celebration of all senses, with an abundant treat of delicacies combined with a truly cosy atmosphere, not forgetting the warmth and light of a live fireplace and beautiful sofas by Svensk Tenn. If I ever go back to Gothenburg, Hotel Pigalle is a sure choice. Must confess that Hotel Pigalle made Gothenburg seem like a rather tempting choice for one's future travel destinations.

There was a female receptionist who was rather reluctant in offering help when asked.

Such an unique, fun and quirky hotel Location couldn't be better. Staff very friendly and helpful. The lifts are hilarious and always put a smile on your face with the sounds that come out.

Few small issues with the bedroom. The room I had (101)really lacked storage. A very small wardrobe and no shelves so had to leave most our clothes in the suitcase or on the large couch. Only one charging point on one side of bed which isn't ideal for changing phones at night and it was hanging off wall so my charger kept falling off too.

10 out of 10 - You can be absolutely assured we would recommend Hotel Pigalle to anyone who asked (or who doesn't ask)! :) Such a wonderful place with true, authentic, unique style, attitude and atmosphere. We loved the decor, artwork, and photography around the building. We loved the frescoes, the bar, the restaurant and the breakfast room. The staff were friendly and fantastic and we appreciated and loved the staff attire. Very stylish and added to the whole atmosphere. The window view outside our room was exciting; full of people, trams, lovehearts and movement. It helped us plan our day. We loved the elevator for it's rustic French appearance, the French theme throughout, the attention to detail in the rooms. The top hat, the feathers, the binoculars and the books were fantastic talking points for fantasy and fun. We loved the bathroom with its gold brass fittings, seaweed green tiling, and white bath and basins. There was a plumbing problem in the hotel during our stay resulting in no hot water - but we loved the place anyway! Sh&t happens, and a cold shower was nothing compared to the love and pride in place that was clear as a sunny day at Pigalle! It only added to the adrenalin and excitement - which says everything! 10 out of 10 for your fantastic, fantasy hotel!!! Thanks so much - we'll be back!!!

Nothing. All was fantastic. Could be good, perhaps, to inform guests on arrival about tea and coffee possibilities. Also, if it's possible, could be good to offer a second corridor entrance card for couples or families. This way, if one person is staying in the room while the other goes outside, the person going outside doesn't need to take the card out of the electricity slot at the room entrance. This is minor though (and probably entirely doable). Overall though, the main thing is the hope that you keep a focus on and continue with the decor and prop details and themes - this was lovely and memorable!!!
