The staff, especially Ms. Despo in reservations, Sebastián in concierge, Gabriel in reception and Maximiliano in the spa, were excellent. The hotel was in a nice quiet section, but at the same time a distance away from simple things like a pharmacy.

There was considerable confusion about our reservation due to the fact that we arrived at 5AM and had to pay for the prior day in order to be able to check in on arrival after a trans Atlantic flight. Initially we asked for three nights and had to add the one because of early arrival and this confusion still had not been straightened out during our stay. The bed and pillows were rather hard, the second time we were there.

Staff was wonderful

They need more cleaning staff so that passengers from the US with early arrivals can get into their rooms earlier! I asked in 3 separate messages about early check in and even offered to pay a subsidy for early check in. I sat in their lobby for 5 hours after coming off a very long flight with no sleep! I put my sign outside my door for the room to be cleaned on two separate morning with no housekeeping done! I also called about the sir conditioning and nothing was done until I went to the desk the following day! I would have enjoyed a coffee or tea machine in the room!

They have an excelente breakfast selection and attention. Front desk and bell boy very helpful. Near a multitude of good restaurants. Bar was good as well.

Matress was terrible, we had to call for a replacement. The replacement was a little bit better but not up to par with the standard of the same class hotel we stayed with in the past. Otherwise it would had receive a perfect rating from us

Interesting elevators. Never seen one where you select the floor outside the elevator and can't change your mind once inside.

Street noise. But it is a big city. The VAT discount for non-Argentinians was unclear. The quoted price apparently does NOT include VAT like in other countries. So then they add it and then take it off. Not what I was expecting.

The hotel is nicely located within Puerto Madero. That means you have walking access to many high quality restaurants and limited number of shops. Even few museums are within range. The surroundings are inviting ultra modern (for Argentina), luxurious and safe. However safe access to the financial centre and shopping areas requires taking a taxi or some other transport.

The maintenance of the premises could be better. For example the cold water tap of the shower was often powering hot water sometimes too hot for comfort. The WiFi failed in my room area for the last 2 days of my stay and the management, although polite, was unable to have it repaired in spite of my frequent protests. Also blackouts were more often than desirable but fortunately not very long.

the location

the property has been a great Hotel I have been coming to it for over 20 years. however after Sofitel left the ownership the new administration has not renovated the property you can see and feel that some things are a little old or used.

This is the third time we have stayed at Hotel Madero because we like it so much. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the staff is welcoming and friendly. The location is great and there are wonderful restaurants nearby. A lovely hotel!

Didn't have my room cleaned until 3 PM on day 1.

Big, comfortable room. Nice bed. Bathroom okay, not really brand new but all was fine. By far the best I saw in Argentina, let's put it that way. Very helpful and friendly staff. Silent room, well isolated.

Breakfast buffet was rather poor. A bit fresh bread, proper cheese and vegetables, nice pastries and a good coffee, maybe even a (genuinely) fresh squeezed orange juice - that's my expectation for a 5 star hotel in this price range really.
