Quest Canberra City Walk

Had initial problems with the water pressure which seemed to sort itself out after 10pm at night (taps, toilet and shower) Carpark is a bit difficult for larger cars with a tight turn that took a few attempts (Toyota Prado size vehicle) The carpark seems to have a sensor which opens the roller door when exiting however the position on the sensor may have to be considered as by the time I managed to get up the ramp, the roller door had closed again and my wife had to ask reception to open the roller door. My suggestion would be to move the sensor to about halfway up the ramp so the roller door opens on approach. Small to mid size vehicles should be fine with negotiating.

The location is just brilliant. If you want a city hotel, this is the one! Opposite the front doors is the Canberra Centre and to the left about a 3 minute walk are all the cafes, restaurants and bars. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, beautifully quiet and so functional with its own kitchenette. Staff were personable and very helpful. Have stayed in a few other hotels in the city previously, but this is my new hotel of choice- can’t wait to stay again.

Honestly it’s hard to find fault with the property. If I had to say something, and this is really trivial I know, the smell of the air freshener/ deodoriser throughout the common areas of the hotel is very strong- perhaps it could be toned down a bit?

Quest City Walk is located at the heart of Civic and it is easily accessible via bus and light rail. From there, you can visit many landmarks around Canberra by foot or by public transport. The hotel is clean and has all the essential amenities which you need. The only downside is that room service is not available on weekends. The hotel also provides free laundry service, very handy for guests on a long stay.

Room service is not available on weekends and the front desk may not be staffed 24/7. Aim to arrive at the property during normal hours, i.e. before 8pm to ensure there is front desk staff. Otherwise, you may have to call an after hour number.

Convenient position in the city with shopping and plenty of places to eat just out the door, and the bus routes to sightseeing within close walking distance. The basic cooking and food reheating facilities were handy to have, as are the free washer and dryer. I left a note on the table in the room with the clock radio which wasn't working and when I returned in the afternoon it had been replaced. Staff helpful with local information.

Although vibrant during the day and evening, The local area doesn't feel safe for a solo female traveller to walk alone late at night.

Beds were comfy, facilities as I've come to know, booking Quest over many years. Thought out kitchen utensils, lovely brand of personal care products, heating able to be adjusted to user preferences easily and turned off when needed. Very clean apartment, respectful and helpful staff in person. Wonderful location if you're a shopper, also fair restaurants within walking distance. Feedback: Would have been nice to have my booking upgrade request confirmed via the app I booked with, so I didn't need to continue follow up, yet all was set on my arrival, so not a huge deal in the end. A shower spray head along with the rain shower head would have been a welcomed plus.

Some facilities feedback: There was a light out above the basin in the bathroom, which is where make up is applied. The handle above the basin instantly fell off when I went to open the tap in the bathroom, yet thankfully it was easy fixed (it will occur again if not addressed). One lift was out, hopefully you are aware and actioning this.

The hotel was very good in all aspects.it was unfortunate that whilst we were there the hotel was flooded out so we had to spend the third night in another local hotel. The staff were extremely helpful in suggesting another local hotel (Sebel) which was not quite up to the same standard as The Quest but was good enough for one night. The management staff sorted out the financial side immediately and we’re very helpful in getting us up to our room to retrieve all our belongings. As they y clients to deal with they remained very polite and helpful. Well done to them. I have recommended their services to family and I would certainly stay there again being right in the heart of the commercial centre.

I found nothing that I could improve apart from not being subjected to flooding which was beyond their control.

The serviced apartment are in the middle of the city across the street from the main Canberra shopping centre. You don't even need to cross a road. Perfect location to access the shops and restaurants. The apartments are well furnished and very clean.

Parking is an issue with only limited spaces available but very cheap (cheaper than hotel) is available at the shopping centre. The hotel gave us detailed instructions on how to find this parking.

Location perfect. Breakfast not offered but we had planned to go out anyway so not a problem for us. You could get a breakfast kit if needed.

The bed lamp globe was faulty (room 112B ) when it has been on for a little while. The plastic around the globe fitting was brown not white indicating a scorching. We switched the globes and the faulty one is now on the other side of the bed. We meant to tell reception on check out but we forgot. Apologise for this as it needs attention.

The apartment was spacious, clean and had full kitchen facilities. The property is located right in the CBD, but is quiet, as there is only foot traffic outside on City Walk. The Canberra Centre is only a few metres away, for shopping.

Although the booking.com site entry indicates this property has parking, there are actually not many parking spaces available, and parking costs $25 per night. There is very little parking available in the surrounding streets. I don’t recommend you stay here with a car on the weekend, as you may end up with a parking ticket like I did. Parking inspectors come to Hillside Lane at 9am on a Sunday morning!

The Hotel is well located close to the main shopping center and short walks to the restaurants. The room had a balcony. The staff were very pleasant to deal with.

The first night we had several people outside our door yelling till 2.30am. We tried to ring the duty person but could only leave a message. The hotel did not contact us regarding our message but when we asked to be relocated to another floor or we would book out they apologized. They said they had to ask their manager about the relocation and this took several hours. Once the manager agreed we were upgraded to a different floor which was very satisfactory.
