December 2024

We recently stayed at Harrigans Hunter Valley. The venue location was central to everything. We chose this venue because it had accommodation, a pool and the Pub. The accommodation rooms are all at ground level so good for people needing assistance (albeit the shower recess has a hob so not wheel chair friendly). There is parking directly outside the room. Each room appears to have a private patio at the rear. Ours in room #510 had a view over vines and the sunrise, so nice. The room was sizeable and comfy with a great A/C. The pool was great to cool off after very hot days. It was clean and cool. It’s 2m deep at one end so watch the little ones. Finally the Pub. Great crew servicing the bar and bistro. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Even the burly security guys were a great interaction when we got back from our day tour with sound advice on that night’s expected crowd and recommendations when to arrive for dinner. Much appreciated. The food was classic pub bistro but good, really good. We ate there the two nights we stayed. Recommend the pork belly (mains) and duck spring rolls (entre). We also had breakfast one morning which was plentiful ($25 full continental and a choice of a cooked meal included). $15 just for the continental.

The only concerns we had with the room were the bed mattress and the decor. The room needs a make over and is looking very tired. The mattress was memory foam and was still remembering all the past guests. We sank too deep into the mattress causing sore backs and neck. We could hear the music from the pub from our room but it wasn’t loud enough to hinder sleep. Ear plugs are provided in the room. While the accommodation is getting old, we’d stay again but hopefully the mattresses are firmer.

Located close to Hunter Velley Gardens which was the reason for our visit. Lovely patio area outside room private thanks to attractive planting. Even had our own visiting duck. Spacious room. Quality bed linen. Very attractive decor.

Room 504 Missing a handle on 1 wardrobe door /missing 3 coathangars on fittings still on rai. Bedside table tops need attention. A second luggage rack would have been useful, had to use a chair. A couple of coat hooks between wardrobe and wall would be a great idea and save cluttering up the room as not enough hangars in wardrobe.

So much to like... The grounds are beautiful The rooms are spacious Undercover parking Beds were comfy Pub meals were great and the staff were friendly Location is fabulous Great communication from the Harrigans regarding check in at a different hotel and updates

Maybe the hotel services don't have enough allocated time because the spoons and coffee mugs were not cleaned properly There was dried coffee on the spoons and mugs The sheets don't fit the bed No biggie but other than that great stay

I've been to the Hunter many a times but this was our first stay at Harrigan's. I must admit I am impressed, and why had I not been here before, it has everything you need! What a wonderful little "resort/motel/hotel/village" an all in one! Complete with a pool, vineyards as your backyard to explore, a pub, club and a bottle shop. The food and service is very good, loved the atmosphere. We stayed only one night but if I were to stay for a week Harrigan's is the place to be.

The room is clean, and bathroom generally clean but the mould on shower recess could be cleaned better.

Location, facilities and overall experience was very good. Having a wood fire was an excellent surprise.

The mobile check in was seamless however being a two bedroom suite we had to go and get key cards as only one person can use the mobile app. The aging rooms were more than adequate however in desperate need of renovations. The beds are just WAY TOO SOFT!! Almost suffocatingly soft. Room comes with wifi but I have no idea how to access it. No instructions anywhere. The application required for all room / pub info is outdated and not very helpful at all.

Location Fantastic, so close the the Hunter Gardens which was the reason for our visit. Room was dated but clean, comfy Spacious. There was a king bed and a single. Large Balcony off the room which overlooked the back of the building/storage area so not much of a view but we paid a cheap price for the room. I'm sure the more expensive rooms have a nicer view of the vines etc. The balcony was very dirty/dusty. But didn't bother us. Pub on site was perfect for dinner and breakfast in the morning. My son made good use of the Pool also.

I like the atmosphere of being attached to a lively pub and it was St Patricks day - so a great venue for that.

I didn't like having to check in at the Mercure - this is weird AND I was only told about it the day before. If I have to check in at the mercure, Next time I would just stay at the mercure. Also - I ordered a takeaway chicken snitzel - the chips were old and soggy and the amount of sauce to have with it was pathetic. Also, because I am staying in the hotel - I should be able to have a normal plate and proper cutlery

Very spacious and well laid out apartment. Lovely green and vineyard outlook. Fireplace was fabulous and enough firewood provided, Very cosy. Excellent value for money for two bedrooms. We stayed on a Sunday night so was very quiet. May be noisy on Fridays and Saturdays with the pub close by.

Some of the furniture was dated and worn but this would be expected from use. The exterior of the stainless steel fridge and bathroom bins had some rust. This was only cosmetic and didn't affect but the bins could easily be replaced at little cost. Makes the place look more loved as the rooms and the outlook are so great.

We had 4 girls for a weekend away in Winter. We wanted our own rooms, so we got 2 of the 2 bedroom rooms with fireplaces. It was perfect for what we needed. Large rooms, big bathroom with spa bath. Huge soft beds. Tea coffe sugar biscuits and milk provided Had nibbles and listened to a musician, then could just walk back to our room. Close to everything and great value for money. Great for groups or wedding guests. I would prefer somewhere else for a romantic weekend.

Could do with a spring clean ( not a general clean) and a little maintenance.

Harrigans is a great place to stay. The room was spacious. The private courtyard was a nice surprise. The bed was comfortable, and the room had everything one would need. The close proximity to the bar and restaurant areas was very convenient. Breakfast at Harrigans was good. The Hunter Valley surrounds were beautiful. Great place to meet with friends or family. Easy to arrange wine tour pick-up from this venue. Definitely recommend Harrigan's!

Apart from the plainness of the rooms appearance, there wasn't much to dislike.
