Montville Mountain Inn

We were expecting accommodation that looked somewhat dated: the online property photos accurately represent the 'age' of the property. However were surprised at how clean and well maintained the rooms and property overall were. Hot shower. Comfortable beds. Air conditioning effective. Small but adequate kitchenette with fridge, microwave, jug and plates/cutlery. Also surprised at the 'resort' style facilities at the rear of the property: beautifully maintained gardens, pool and tennis court. It was more than adequate for our one night stay and very comfortable.

Noise carries from outside hence road noise. Also guests staying a few doors down sat outside talking and we could hear them even with everything closed up and AC on (we had a room looking onto Main Street).

The staff were lovely and accommodating of our late arrival. Excellent detailed instructions for the collection of keys, and accessed easily! The room was lovely and spacious. Simple but that's all I needed. Views and just sheer serenity were perfection!

This isn't a negative review by any means - if it was I would have mentioned to management. Just a heads up for anyone planning a rendezvous. I had some *noisy* neighbours, which proved the walls are pretty thin (I did have a locked, adjoining door which would definitely mean less soundproofed). As a spicy romance writer, it was funny so it didn't bother me.

Perfect base for a stay around Montville. John is a very friendly host. Nice clean quiet rooms. Pod coffee maker. Couch in our room was great just to be able to spread out that bit more. Just a few minute walk to a range of restaurants. Highly recommend the meals at the pub next door. Parking in main street can be hard, so host kindly let us leave our car outside room for a bit past the checkout time. Highly recommend paying a small amount more to get the bigger quieter rooms at the back.

Nothing to not like really.

The room was on the lowest level overlooking the tennis court, pool and tropical garden. It was clean and comfortable with a small kitchenette a tv and air-con. We have stayed here many times and it's always a nice stay.

The tea cups were a bit small for us but found out that's because they wanted to fit them in the kitchen draws. Just ask and they will provide some bigger mugs. Because of COVID they have stopped serving breakfast to the room, I guess this is now a permanent thing. I usually take a stroll around the pool even if I don't take a dip as the garden is so nice ... this is the first time out of many trips over 30 years that the pool was closed off. The "back yard" as such probably needed a bit of maintenance ... I've seen it better.

Great location in Montville, walked everywhere in town and not far to drive for a lot of great walks. Has a restaurant attached to the hotel that has good food and an excellent beer garden with a Sat and Sun lunchtime session with live music. The music was excellent quality – easy listening style. Plenty of parking. Friendly and helpful staff.

The rooms are older and have a residual incense smell – assume to cover old smoke smell. They are definitely non smoking rooms now. It was not an off-putting smell – reminded me of hotels of old.

Montville mountain inn is located on the main boulevard of Montville town which enables easy exploration of the surroundings. The room was of good size, and had adequate facilities. The ensuite was very clean and spacious.

The beds didn't have wheel locks (or I could't locate it). The room felt a bit cramped with 2 single and 1 double bed. Perhaps instead of 3 beds, the management can take out 1 bed and put a divan there. The floor carpet might require a bit more cleaning.

Love the chram of this place good size rooms, bathroom was a good size, staff were friendly and are only too happy to help you out, perfect location, pub/restaurant next door, beautiful food, and such a cozy place to have a meal, the pool was amazing and we had so much playing tennis, the bbq was big and clean, and the beds were so comfy, and the price we paid, was perfect , were definitely coming back

There was nothing we didn't like about the place

Rooms were more than ample large enough, clean had the very basics needed for short stays. Tennis court was fabulous and the pool looked lovely but the weather was just a little bit cool for us to test it out. Staff were lovely and helpful including the domestic cleaning staff. Adequate air-conditioning.

No ceiling fans but honestly it isn't such a big deal as the air-conditioning was more than sufficient. It is just a personal preference.

We loved our stay here. Location was great. Pub next door, IGA a short walk. We had interconnecting rooms. They were very clean and enough room for a family of 5. Pool was great, hidden amongst nature. It felt like a resort. Our rooms were located on the bottom floor overlooking nature and the tennis courts.

Laundry facilities would have been good. We had to travel 20 minutes to find a Laundromat.

The accommodation is right next door to the Montville Bar & Grill which is an excellent local ‘pub’ restaurant, with great meals & plenty of indoor and outdoor dining. The accommodation is also on main road of Montville & all the shops are within walking distance. Car parking was good & I liked the balcony view towards the back of the property with all the trees & palms. There was a microwave & some crockery in the room too which was handy if you need it. Thanks for having us, we’d recommend staying here.
