Amazing service from Roger the owner. He provides Breakfast in a well set out dinning room with the option for a cooked breakfast which he makes and serves quickly. The open fire burning in the lounge at night is a perfect place to sit back on the leather couches and enjoy a quiet red, port or coffee. This does not even mention the beautiful home with high ceilings which is too hard to do justice in this review
Only a minor thing if are a mad footy fan and want to watch the footy the TV in the lounge could be a bit bigger. But then again if your are that dependent on your footy don't go away.

We found Lorelei as we were passing through Portland on our coast road trip & needed a place to stay. It was so warm & cozy & Roger is such a kind & gracious host. The room & bed were comfortable with everything we needed. I liked having our own bathroom & not having to share with other guests. Breakfast was good in the morning & the conversation with Roger & the other guests was nice. It will definately be a place we would return & as a Travel Advisor, would highly recommend to my clients or anyone else.
There is NOTHING to not like about it

Roger Alexander, the proprietor greeted us with his rescue Greyhound Luke, as we were unpacking our car after a long drive to Portland. The B&B was delightful in many ways. Room was spacious, other common areas like the living room and breakfast room were comfortable, and in the case of the living room, stocked with complimentary wine and local beers. Bathroom with shower and tub were was large and well provisioned with shampoos , etc. Breakfast in the morning was comped and Roger was kind enough to cook really good eggs.
Electrical outlets were a bit difficult to access.

Location was great, I arrived and got a key to my room. I was in Portland to do the fishing, so my start time was very early, and go to bed time was early, too. I got shown the drinks (tea, coffee, white/red wine free of charge that I could use), and where breakfast will be served. I didn't have microwave at my room but there was one at the community kitchen. Upon the whole room was good, bed and comfort were good, bathroom was good, everything good and functional. But it is a big house with a garden and hosts living there, so you need to take that into consideration. It is not a hotel, even though well run.

Well kept heritage property, beautifully furnished and décor of a very high standard. Quality +++ The owner has thought of everything (and more), the extra touches and freebies ie wine, soft drink , beer, chocolates etc was unexpected yet alone the huge range offered for the included continental breakfast. You have both the privacy of your very well appointed room and ensuite together with freedom of the common areas. Why you would elect to stay in a motel room rather than this gem (and you are paying a tad less) in a quiet residential street that is within walking distance to supermarkets, cafes and restaurants etc eludes me!! Recommend highly

The Lorelei is an absolutely gorgeous hidden gem, within walking distance of the port and restaurants, etc. Roger was a great host, and we felt like we had walked back in time with all the lovely antiques throughout the home. Our room was adorable, spacious, sparkling clean, comfortable, and with a very old-fashioned vibe. The private ensuite bathroom was all new and modern, but the tiled floors and walls were decorated like it was antique. Everything we could have needed and more in terms of bathroom amenities, plus a small fridge. The bed and pillows were comfy, it was quiet, and there were two nice chairs for reading or sitting, plus a desk and plenty of space for luggage. Breakfast was perfect for our wishes - cereals, milk, juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, and a nice assortment of teas, all served in the beautifully appointed antique formal dining room with 12-foot ceilings. (Roger offered a cooked hot breakfast for an extra charge, but we prefer the style of breakfast mentioned.)
We found everything to be delightful, and our stay exceeded our expectations.

Host was very accomodating. Any questions we had about sightseeing were soon answered as regularly available to ask but not obtrusive. Having cmfortable guest lounge and dining areas was great. Enjoyed breakfast and chats with other guests. Glass of red in evenings was great. History and furnishing of house is - charming.
It really made little difference as inside is very nice, but the garden and exterior has had better days.

What a lovely Bed and Breakfast! The history of the house is stunning, and the rooms were very cosy and comfortable. Roger looked after with us with breakfast, and was very accommodating. Close to all amenities, and very well priced, definitely recommend.

I was delighted with this accomodation which far exceeded what I had expected. Under its current owner Roger, this grand historic house is maintained in impeccable condition. As well as being beautifully furnished and decorated, it has all the comforts; comfortable bed, quality linen, tv, good heating, and a spa that was heaven-sent after a hard day hiking on the Great South West Walk If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the place. The spacious lounge room has several lovely seating areas and I thought the wine and cheese left out for the enjoyment of guests was a lovely touch. The ambient lighting is very relaxing; my only suggestion would be to have perhaps one area more brightly lit, for guests such as myself who like to relax with a good book while on holiday. Roger is an attentive and thoughtful host, with a genuineness about his hospitality that marks Lorelei out from other accommodation I've experienced. As a solo traveller, I particularly appreciated the care taken to ensure that I was comfortable and that all my needs were being attended to. Oh, and the cooked breakfast was excellent, the poached eggs done to perfection! Lorelei was the highlight of my Portland trip and would definitely be my accomodation of choice for future trips to the area.

Roger managed to combine luxury and cleanliness with a feeling of being right at home. The building and rooms are beautiful, the breakfast offered plenty of choice and the common rooms were really comfortable to sit and relax in. Usually I would not want to use a common room but becasue we felt so at home, we used them frequently. Location is a short walk to the main strip.
