Staff where excellent from the time we arrived until we departed. The overall property condition was comfortable and inviting. The food was delicious and accommodating to most tastes and on comparison for value. The Rec is in great proximity to anything you might want or need either walking distance or short drive. We were happily surprised on arrival as properties often promise and not deliver. This was not the case with the Rec hotel.

If there was one thing I would mention is that the delux queen stable accommodation although well presented and comfortable, sound proof it isn't we could here the guest in the adjoining room and they weren't being particularly loud. Minor issue really but for the picky traveller could be a point.

Room was well appointed though toilet oddly situated. The room temperature was nice with air conditioner and ceiling fan.Parking on site. Dinner was nice and karaoke night fun. Mini bar available.

No one at Reception. Went to bar and staff member called on a female who was too busy eating and talking to head his request! Eventually one of the other bar staff checked me in. Bought a bottle of wine Howard Park Pinot Noir, $30 mark up on $20 bottle of wine at Grand Cru! and the person assumed I had a Seniors Card. Found the bar staff lacking in professionalism, I don't like being addressed as "love" or "darling".I know it's a country town but upskill your staff.

The staff were very welcoming and offered good old fashioned customer service which is hard to find these days. We had dinner at the hotel and it was delicious. Again, service was spot on! The rooms were clean, bed comfortable and bed linen nice and clean, heater/air con in room, shared bathrooms were immaculate with all linen provided clean and in good condition. We parked onsite with plenty of spaces available. As we were getting up early, we took advantage of self-checkout using the dropbox. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return and recommend to other.

Everything was clean and comfortable and we were very happy. We booked King room, which is large and has 2 double beds, small couch, small table and 2 chairs, fridge, etc and french doors that open to the upstairs verandah. These rooms are shared bathroom - as it was "back in the day"- but bathrooms were modern and clean. It is an old heritage hotel with beautiful leadlight windows and a classic staircase - so no lifts, and not wheelchair accessible in the original part. They have other, modern accessible rooms onsite, which are separate from the hotel. These have their own bathroom.

Shared bathroom maybe a problem for some, but fine for us. Upstairs not suitable for those with mobility issues.

Room and facilities are (relatively) cheap and cheerful. Clean and well presented.

I wasn't told where the check out key drop-off box was, and set off the alarm when I looked in the office lol. Either it had moved from last time I stayed, or I just forgot it was in the courtyard. My mate in another room said he did the same thing. A sign may be useful :-)

Duke's Inn seemed like a slightly quirky choice for a couple of days in Northam. I really enjoyed it! I had a single room with shared facilities so it was a bit like travelling in the 80s. The room was large and comfortable, the whole place has a charming ambiance and while the idea of shared facilities is a bit of a throwback, they were spotlessly clean and well looked after. The staff were very friendly, and I enjoy being able to have dinner and a drink in the place I'm staying without having to think about driving.

The Duke's Inn at Northam represented an excellent value for money and enjoyable stay. I was en route from New Norcia to Esperance and decided to stay there for the evening. Beds are comfortabl and rooms are secure . The building has historical significance and is well preserved. I especially loved how their crockery is from Bristile China made in WA! The female staff offer attentive service. The town of Northam itself is very well serviced. I'm pleased that I stopped there for the evening.

Room is nice and comfortable. The staff also really friendly and helpful. In fact everything is perfect. Asked some attractive information, and the staff provided me a really awesome spot for the sunset.

To be really picky, The bathroom sink need some maintenance or special cleaning, something like scratch in the sink. And I saw some cockroach in the bathroom and toilet it is summer; however it is really hot summer (I mean it is reasonable to see that in a burning hot day no matter how clean the toilet and bathroom is)

Hey guys, just wanted to mention how great your facility was. Arrived at 10pm but no hassle at all with the late arrival key setup and rooms and amenities were great! Only issue was one shower not quite working properly, but didn’t matter as the other was working fine. Other than that, super clean and helpful staff in our situation. Thanks again and would definitely stay again! Hopefully for dinner and few beers next time 👍

Lovely old hotel with many restored features. Rooms were quiet, & shared bathrooms were very clean. Great food including gluten-free options. A typical WA country pub with a good atmosphere.

The bed was small & wasn't very comfortable, & I didn't like being unable to open the window for fresh air. Other room options are available, but we were late to book & this room was all that was available.
