The Steveston Cafe & Hotel

Very quiet area close to a harbour with numerous bars and restaurants. Lovely local shops. Whale watching boat from the harbour. Very friendly helpful staff. Hotel connected to a cafe and liquor store. Also next door to a bar which served food. Supermarket opposite. Great for buses into Richmond and from there links by Sky train to many places. Beautiful walk along the harbour to a Japanese heritage fisheries site...very interesting.

Room was small and basic but sufficient for our needs as we were only staying 3 nights. Would have felt very confined had we been staying longer. No lounge area or restaurant facilities although it was next door to a cafe and bar. We had breakfast next door each morning and weren't told until the last day that we could get a voucher for the cafe and get a breakfast for CAD$10 - half of what we had been paying. Would have been nice to have been told.

I absolutely loved the area. It was an unexpected highlight of our trip. Steveston is such a lovely place to stay and on my next trip I will always come again. The hotel is right in the heart of everything and only 1 minute from the waterfront. The hotel itself has all the basics you need. The bed was confy, the coffee and tea machine in the room was also nice and the staff very friendly and always helpful.

Due to the carpetee floor it smelled a bit at first wjen you enter the room and our room was next to the ventilation, so a bit noisy. Best to bring earplugs if you are sensitive. Still, really lovely hotel, would always come again and recommend it.

This is a small hotel, with very clean room. As it is small, you do not have lots of clients, so not much noise. You can park your car for free : you just have to register it at check-in. You can leave your luggage at reception if you arrive before check-in time. And also the procedure if you arrive after the end of check-in time (11pm). There is a supermarket and a couple of restaurants nearby if needed. We tested a good Fish&Chips restaurant 250m from the hotel. The area is very quiet and safe , as it is in Richmond

We knew that the hotel was far from Vancouver downtown. So it is NOT the hotel's fault. We just did not realize that using public transportation it took 1h15-1h30, using bus until "Richmond Brighthouse" station, then the metro until "Waterfront" terminus. One option, we did not try, could be to leave your car on the Richmond center shopping mall parking, and then take directly the metro. Saving the 25-30 minutes of bus.

The breakfast was amazing, and the new rooms were very nice and spacious. Despite reviews of noise, we didn't experience any disruptions at all (must be quiet pub on a Monday night). Lovely staff allowed us to leave our suitcases in their storage room (freezer in attached alcohol store). Great location to Steveston!!!

We were told a few days before there would be a fire inspection between 8:30am and 9:30am, and the same at the hotel front desk and that a person will need to enter the room (we were ok with this and appreciated the information). Signs around the place were notifying members that there may be alarms starting at 8am. However, we never experienced any person needing to come into our room - so it was disappointing we got up early for nothing on our holiday!

Even though I arrived very early (10:30), they went out of their way to get my room ready within 20 minutes or so, which was appreciated. The room was bright and airy and well-presented with a comfortable bed.

Nothing really stands out. A fridge in the room would be nice but the reception guy in the evening was very helpful in providing a temporary cooling solution for some food and drink that I had bought for the next morning (not having noticed the lack of a fridge) when I had to leave for the airport at 6am.

This was the most affordable option for a last minute booking for an overnight stay close to the Vancouver airport. My flight got in late, and the staff responded immediately to my text upon landing and left me easy detailed instructions on how to retrieve my room key from a lock box right by the front door. It has all the charm of a 100+ year old hotel, with well done modern updates (redone shower, split heating unit in the room). All the rooms are on the second floor up a flight of stairs, but that was no problem. The bed was super comfy, the split heating unit worked like a charm, and the shower was great. Added bonus, I'd never heard of Steveston before. But had a great breakfast at the property's Cafe right downstairs. I decided to take an extra 1/2 hour to walk around the very quaint center of the historic village before getting on the road and popped into a few great shops and a bakery snd checking out the amazing looking fresh seafood Saturday market at the village pier.. I would definitely go back!

The room and bathroom were clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Good view of the Cannery from our room. Breakfast at the Cafe was fast and very delicious! Reasonable price also. The Cafe seemed to be a favorite of locals as well since it was very busy, very early Saturday morning. We also appreciated the extra security of locking the lobby and hallway after hours.

Not a big deal to us, but the door to our room was a little hard to close (might be sticking to the door jam) and would slam closed loudly if let go. It had to be held and needed a little force to close without making a loud noise. We may have inadvertently disturbed other guests with the door slamming closed.

The owners clearly prioritise guest experience. Although the hotel was old, the beds and facilities had updated decor and felt welcoming and modern. A/C had been upgraded so we had no issues even though it was over 30deg outside. The owners and staff were super friendly and helpful, stopping to pet our dog every time we walked past. For a budget hotel, this one far far exceeded expectations

All the rooms are upstairs so it's probably not an accessible hotel. It's an old building so there's not a lot of ways to retrofit accessibility.

The town and location of the hotel and all the amenities available in the same building make this hotel an ideal destination for a fun spontaneous short-stay vacation. Staff is super friendly and the breakfast was delicious and a great value. Second time staying here and will be back again!

One of the coffee cups in the room was chipped around the rim, making it unusable, so my guest and I shared a cup, and there was only 1 creamer in the sugar bowl. There was also a fire alarm going off in the area at about 5 am but not that the hotel had anything to do with that, it just disrupted our sleep for a bit.

In such a fabulous location, nice room & bathroom and a good breakky included- eggs, hash brown & toast with coffee in the cafe downstairs. The waitress was wonderful. The room was clean and fairly new, we were happy with it.

noisy air con fan on roof very close to our window so our expected quiet location had a loud humming all night. Room 28 is right next to the fan so avoid it. Our room was not serviced, we were out all day and came back to no service. Our towels were still wet from 2 showers so I called down for more and more coffee, tea refills. Nobody brought them up. In the morning I went down and the receptionist brought us clean towels up. It's a shame the guy at night could not have done this.
