Location is great - less than 5 minutes to the top of "Defuxiang" (Defu Lane) which is the place to go in the evenings for food, drinks and live music. I'd suggest going via Defuxiang to get to the South Gate of the ancient wall also, will take around 30 minute walk unless you'd rather taxi. The ancient walled city is actually much bigger than I thought! Around an hour to an hour and ten minutes to get to the Terracotta Soldiers by car. I took a taxi (DiDi) which was less than £10. Worth paying for sure. The rooms were great. I chose the hotel for its brutalist design which you find in the rooms also. Bathrooms were beautiful, great lighting generally, spacious and the bed was so comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful but have Google Translate to hand if you don't speak Mandarin (and in Xi'an in general, it's not Beijing or Shanghai!). All toiletries provided, USB sockets, coffee making station. Everything you need for a stay in Xi'an. The room service robots are so cool.

That we like the most is the exceptional service that we received from the staff. The front desk manager Mr Sun Lu solved the payment issue for us. The other two staff Mr Li Qi and Ms Wang Si Yu were also very helpful in answering our questions. The staff in the restaurant particularly Ms Yin Gai Li were so helpful when knowing there was not an iron in our room, she immediately organised one for us, which was there for us when we returned back to our room from breakfast. The 8th floor staff Yin Qiao Ling was so great in helping us to get the laundry done. Nothing is impossible in this hotel. The breakfast and afternoon tea were wonderful and exceeded our expectations. We appreciate greatly the help we received in this hotel and will go back to it if we visit Xi’an again.

The location is very good. Very central and easy to commute. The service provided by Ms. Yin Gaili was great, where she brought us food and helped us to fetch the utilities. She also made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay. The laundry room also worked surprisingly well.

The AC had some problems during our stay. Hopefully this is just a one time occasion. The main problem is that the room was too warm, and there's no helping it even when the window is opened. During our stay, it was colder outside than inside. Another small problem is that the elevator is a bit slow. But that's not a big issue.

Great price and great location to see all the local tourist attractions. The rooms were nice and clean. The dinner menu was very good and suitable for western guests as it has dishes similar to what you would expect.

Breakfast wasn’t very good for western guests. Ok for 1 day but 3 days in and it’s not great. Yoghurts and a few Danish pastries was it. There is a substantial Chinese option but not really like what non locals would eat. The reception staff didn’t speak English which was very tricky. If you’re in the hospitality business and aiming to get Westerners into your hotel, I would makethis a requirement.

Excellent location. You can walk to the famous Huimin Street (where many choices of muslim food are served) and there are also many other choices of non-halal food on other streets. We booked a tour package to see the terracotta warriors and watched a Chinese performance (千古情） from one of the tour agencies there. Walking distance to the Bell Tower and metro station, but since taxis are relatively affordable in China, we take taxis everywhere (less than RMB20 for a 20 min ride, which brings you to a number of attractions like Dayanta 大雁塔 ). Room is clean and of decent size.

No complaints at all. I did not get to taste the afternoon tea that were provided free so I am not sure whether they were good or not.

Amazing. Central to attractions. The property was clean. Non smoking floor. House keeping everyday without failed. Btw i stayed here for 7 days. Afternoon tea 2.30-5pm daily but i missed this part. Busy travelling. Unlimited mineral water given. Front desk were friendly even not fluent in English but still manage to communicate. And most of all , i was so blessed to experience the first snow fall in Xian on 11.11.2023 morning when i wake up the snowfall was heavy. I was so excited.

Nothing to dislike

Location is great within the city wall, easily walking distance to drum tower, lots of eating places nearby. Concierge is great, helped us to book tours and shows, and exceptionally prompt in answering all our queries. Breakfast is great with variety. All the staff worked super hard to make our stay enjoyable.

Room is smaller than other hotels we stayed in China, general feeling of the hotel is dark and moody, which kinda depressing, maybe it's a trend, because Westin which we stayed in also feel the same way. I'm not sure why very high reviews are from?

The hotel and room were very tastefully furnished with sensible appliances throughout the room (e.g., international plugs, great toiletries, towel racks, light switches on both sides of the bed). The hotel also provided a free flow supply of bottled water which we appreciated (since tap water is not potable). It was easy to wander around the city from the hotel too. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay! Thanks to the hotel for helping us book tickets to the history museum too.

No major complaints — we only wished breakfast was a little more varied! Staff aren’t super comfortable speaking in English but were very sincere and helpful throughout.

We had an amazing stay at 东舍 hotel. We were truly blown away by the staff and their impeccable service especially Mr 孙, who assisted by recommending us places of interests and food stores that we could try around the hotel that was popular among the locals. Mr 孙 even went out of the way to teach us how to use the transport function in Alipay and gave us advice on how we can make our way to huashan. He patiently went through with us the various tour packages for the terracotta warriors tour and assisted with the booking of our one day tour. Lastly, he helped us with our luggages on the night when we checked out and ensured that we boarded the taxi safely. We were impressed and touched by his sincerity. We highly recommend this hotel for top notched service.

The breakfast which featured local cuisine was delicious. Overall, the staff were really friendly and professional. My special thank you to Coco and Terry at reception who were patient and very helpful with our enquiries. The cleaning lady, 王红梅 was attentive and attended to our needs beautifully. They even notified me of an item left in the room after the stay. I would definitely come back to Eastern House if travelling to Xi'an again. On a side note, I really loved the restaurant on the second floor!

My stay was wonderful and couldn't find anything I didn't like.
