It has been one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The location is amazing just near a hot spring. The rooms were very clean and the view was breathtaking. The thermal pools were fantastic and the staff was so nice especially Genesis at the restaurant. We absolutely loved it there. I wish we could have stayed there longer.

We loved everything, the only two things that we did not enjoy was the food that we ordered at the restaurant because it was not so good, and the road to the hotel was in bad shape and some portions were difficult to drive as it had been raining a lot. You need a 4 wheeler to drive there comfortably.

Beautiful surroundings with amazing wildlife, hot springs and pool, lots of tours and activities. Great staff in the restaurant and amazing tour guides. Thanks to Ronald, Memo and George!

Beware of Google maps directions as we got lost on the way there. Tried to call the resort for directions but no one answered the phone! When we finally arrived, as we were checking in the phone was ringing and nobody bothered to answer it, what??!! I told the young man checking us in that he should see if someone else was lost but he ignored me😐 Also, sheets were not very soft.

The small hiking trail around the hotel was very nice. Really beautifully laid out. The hot springs, bubbling mud and hot steam were also impressive. It makes you realize that you are very close to the volcano or gives you the feeling of being on the volcano. The complex and the little houses are very beautiful and well maintained. Yes it's a really nice hotel with a great pool and spa facility.

The waiting time at check in and out could be shortened if an additional receptionist were there. You get horribly bitten by some small insects and it lasts for a long time. An anti insect spray is a must, especially in the evening or in the morning when you want to sit comfortably on your terrace. The food in the restaurant does not correspond to the overall impression of the facility and is definitely in need of improvement

Amazing stay for the weekend! Loved the mud bath and hot spring pool area. Being surrounded by quiet and nature was beautiful and just to walk around the property was pretty. We saw oropendolas in the big tree as well. Close to the pozas coyote and rincón de la vieja park which we went to as well. Good included breakfast. Big spacious room and hot shower.

My boyfriend is tall and the bed was a little small for him. Would have been nice to know that we had to leave our car down and couldn’t park directly near our bungalow. Wasn’t an issue but just had a lot in the car we had to take out. But other than that was very comfortable and we had amazing stay!

Stunning property. Loved the pool and mud baths. Did horseback riding with Oscar, he was great. Also ziplined which was amazing. Our guides were so much fun, made it a great experience. Food in restaurant was lovely, nice selection at breakfast. Monkeys and tons of birds to see while sitting in the restaurant. Got our exercise each day walking up and down to pool and mud baths. Steep hills but a lovely way to see the property:

Think it was the time of the year that we chose but there was barely anybody there. Pool bar closed at 4.00 and bartender was not at all friendly. Snack bar by the pool did not have enough chicken fingers for 3 orders and again staff was not friendly. Everyone else that we encountered on the grounds and in the restaurant were lovely. Would recommend that you purchase snacks, etc before getting there as there was no little snack shake. Road into property is pretty rough. Gets dark very early in Costa Rica so by 6.30 felt a lot later and as there were very few people there it was a long night for our kids. I presume at busier times of the year with more people around it would have been more lively.

We visited for my daughter's birthday; for a family with 2 young kids, this resort was wonderful! Unlike similar establishments in the area, it is very family-friendly. We encountered many other families participating in an array of activities on property. As our girls are so young, the adventure-activities weren't on our agenda; instead, we really enjoyed the mud bath experience, the pool, steam room, and the hot springs (caution with young kids: don't let them dunk their heads!) There were definitely bugs on property/in the room, but somehow we never got bitten. The grounds are beautifully manicured and breakfast was very nice. We thought a 2-night stay was perfect!

On our 2nd day, we lost electricity and internet 4 times while in the room. The problem was fixed within 10-15 minutes each time, so it wasn't a huge deal, but we did find ourselves using a flashlight at night to wait until the lights came back on to shower. I also have to echo what most other reviews say: the last 30 minutes of the drive in from Liberia are nerve-wracking - and we had a new, 4x4 SUV. If you're a timid driver or aren't equipped with a capable car, I'd hire transportation to reach this place.

Wonderful stay - felt like we were away form tourist traps. Lovely stay in the mountain. The pool was quiet and the hot springs were neat (natural smell of sulphur). Woke up to many birds and howling monkey sounds. Beds were very comfortable and the restaurant was set in lovely scenery and good food.

There was a grill restaurant on the website that stated it was open late. We avoided eating near the airport, as we had a 3 hour wait at car rental (power went out because of an accident), and then we wanted to grab a bite when we got there. We were told the kitchen closed at 10:00 p.m. Bummer for us - all of us were hungry.

Although getting there in our little rental car was challenging (rough rocky and steep roads) we were so happy we made the trip. We loved our large room with a deck and incredibly beautiful landscaped grounds. We enjoyed hiking down to the lovely clean large swimming pool (with a swim-up bar) and then going to the thermal pools and mud smear pits. The breakfast and dinners were yummy, and the staff were all attentive and friendly. We took advantage of the massage service - incredible. We'd definitely go back!

Our only suggestion would be to increase the pool furniture, so there's enough for all the guests! There were only a few chairs and limited chaises. We had to juggle trying to get resting space around the pool, which was unfortunate.

The setting and environment and the pool area with the hot springs and mud bath

There were some small black worms in the room that would come during the night. I guess they were harmless but better sealing of the door and windows would have helped. After we told the reception there were less the following night :-) The restaurants, when we arrived we were told there were two options and we decided to start with the main restaurant la carretta to discover then that the other one closed for the rest of our stay ! We would have appreciated they had told us we could at least have tried it. For the main restaurant we did not particularly enjoy the meals they were quite expensive but average quality and a lot of sauce to cover the taste…

It’s a little paradise, so peaceful and magical with the steam of the volcano coming out of the ground, the bath mud, the hot tubs and the huge pool. The staff is super extra friendly and the food is good. We saw a family of Spider Monkeys and a couple of Howled Monkeys as well, we also saw 3 blue morpho butterflies.

The last 20 minutes of the road is bumpy, but we had a small economic car that got us there with no problems, you just have to drive slowly, the view is beautiful and total worth it.
