Hotel Novo

Free breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, they also have a bar and restaurant on the second floor. You can get a drink or sit and eat lunch and dinner (not free) with amazing food. Location because it's close to alot in downtown SJ all within walking distance. Wifi was good, it was pretty consistent, only a few interruptions. The AC is really cold. The floors in the room are tile and they mop them every day. Cable channels were great and covered many genres, I think there are two English channels (news) and one Chinese channel (movies). The music channel don't have any dubbing.

Location again because it's smack in the middle of downtown, you hear a lot of the city late at night or early in the morning. They really need to upgrade their bedsheets and towels. You can tell they've just been washed over and over and over and over and over again. They have holes and the towels are not exact soft. And I'm not sure they change the sheets or pillows I think they just flip them over. Some places were not cleaned. I checked the basket they place the hairdryer in and it seems to have hair shavings, when lifting up my pillow, I would sometimes find long strands of hair. There's no parking, the entrance is on a main street.

Location is right in the sweet spot of being close enough to walk to terminal 7-10 (Monteverde Bus- you have to go to the basement level at the terminal to buy tickets. Office is next to the elevator) and in a better area than a few blocks closer. It took me about 10 min. to walk. Main pedestrian shopping area is only 2 blocks away (McDonald's, Subway, supermarkets, stores, etc. ) Room was clean and nice for the price. WiFi was good, bed comfortable, cable TV had a lot of channels with many English channels. 24 hour desk, AC, elevator. No complaints. I come to CR often. I will stay here again. Also, I've stayed at some of the cheaper options. Spend the extra 10. It's worth it for the comfort and especially the safety.

No complaints. At first it seems like AC doesn't work. It just takes a few minutes.

The manager, receptionist and all staff go above and beyond to meet customer satisfaction and guarantee a great stay. I can't recommend them enough. I travel for work here often and I like staying here. The location is great as you can go downtown to government offices, the central market is a few minutes walk and you can find souvenirs and affordable lunches called "casados". There are coffee shops, pharmacies, clothes stores, etc near by too. It's not gentrified and you will be able to see what the average Costa Rican every day commute and life looks like. All the rooms I have stayed in have AC and minifridge. All the rooms I have stayed in are spacious.

It's within walking distance to the gold museum which is what I wanted to see. I also went on foot to have coffee at "el tostador" which I wanted to try. Finally I went to "El Gran Hotel Costa Rica" 5th floor to enjoy the view. The day of my departure I walked to MEPE buses to go to Sixaola then walked to Panama to go to Bocas del Toro. Everything was close. It's very convenient. Besides they have a restaurant where breakfast was included and they also serve lunch and dinner. Loved Hotel Novo.

Everything was good for the price. It's and old building. I brought alcohol and wipes to clean myself.

My flight was cancelled and the hotel accepted to modify for free the check-in date and I appreciated that. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The reception is open 24 hours. The hotel is located near the downtown. The station of the airport bus is nearby. The WiFi connection is good, but with some interruptions. The room is spacious and has street view. The bed is large and comfortable. Overall, the hotel offers very good value for money.

There is a strong smell of disinfectant in the room. The breakfast is basic.

They helped me with a good taxi driver from the airport and to the bus station. Breakfast at 6:30 was early enough for me to take advantage of. Desk open 24 hours. The people at the desk and kitchen were friendly and helpful. It wasn't super posh. I liked that. Everything I needed for a good price.

The honking busses outside the window at 5 in the morning. Still, I was on 2nd floor so got to see the city wake up. My food allergies limited my choices for breakfast. But I had a nice omelet and decent coffee.

Small, clean, windowless room in the center of San Jose. Desk and minifridge. Bathroom fine. Modest breakfast included. About 23 rooms on 2 floors. Excellent value for money.

Towels old and worn. We had an inside room, which was pretty quiet given all the noise of the middle of San Jose, but it's a little tough without a window. Maybe I asked for quiet?, and it was fine for one night, but I'd certainly want a window--and risk the noise--for a longer stay.

Great location - 7 min walking from the bus terminal to/from Cahuita and Puerto Viejo, and 2 min to the bus terminal with the buses going to the airport. Overall I expected less for the price but it was a great hotel, I had everything I needed. The receptionist was really friendly and helpful. And I was able to have a bath as there was a bathtub! I had a lovely balcony and it wasn’t too noisy, just normal amount of noise as you would expect in a capital city. I saw that other hotels for this price didn’t even have windows and there was the whole massive balcony that I got.

I was upgraded to a triple room by booking.com but got a double room (not a big deal as I was alone but could have been told about that) The breakfast could be improved and the lady working at the restaurant was a bit strange. No hand soap in the bathroom.

Being close to the bus station that goes to the airport is the main reason I stay here. I love that breakfast is included and it's delicious and filling. When I asked the staff about where to go to print out my COVID test results, they offered to print it for me since it was just one page. The room was clean, shower water was warm, and the bed was comfortable.

I was a bit disappointed that there was no juice offered for breakfast. Only coffee was offered and I don't drink coffee. I'm glad there was a carton of milk for the coffee and I drank that.

Excellent location. The hotel is located just one block away from the beginning of Central Avenue (the famous walking street in San Jose's historic district). The staff was excellent, especially the receptionists Flor and Mariella. My room was wonderful...new-looking or newly remodeled. Plenty of closet space and drawers for my clothes. Excellent air conditioning...very strong WIFI signal. Reliable breakfasts served every morning between 6:30 and 10 a.m. My room included a television set and a mini-refrigerator. The cleaning staff washed my personal laundry for a reasonable price. Nice bathroom with hot water for showers.

During the day, everything is absolutely fine. It is a very busy and bustling neighborhood. But if you arrive at night after 7 p.m. when all the local stores have closed , then the Novo Hotel's door is the only thing lit up or visible on the street. So for me, it was initially difficult to located the door to the hotel when I first arrived at 9 p.m at night.
