We were allocated a premium Ocean View room in tower 2 on the 33rd Floor. The views of the ocean and beach were fantastic even though there were other buildings in front of our accommodation. Great self-contained accommodation with a King Size bed, dining setting (table and six chairs), lounge area with 2 single chairs and a 3 seater lounge chair (which could convert to a double bed) and a kitchen with full size refrigerator, very large microwave oven and full size electric range. The bathroom had been partially renovated with a new bathroom vanity and had a walk in shower (with shower curtain). There was also a balcony with two chairs and a table. There was also a stand alone air conditioner.

WE had problems with hot water in the bathroom vanity. On entering the unit there was excess water on the floor of the bathroom adjacent to the wall. The water was a brownish color. A call to reception resulted in building maintenance being sent to our room and it was ascertained that the hot water tap in the wall behind the vanity was leaking. The maintenance person called his supervisor who advised that he would obtain the necessary replacement parts and fix the problem. We were offer to relocated to another room. However we were reluctant to accept as we were very happy with the room we had and advised maintenance that we would be out of the room and were happy for them to come and fix the problem.

The room was very spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. Very convenient to the beach!! The standard was generally quite good considering it is one of the lower priced accommodations in Honolulu (but still not cheap).

The internet was absolutely awful! I had to do some virtual meetings while I was there and the internet was not capable of holding a connection, even with the video off. Considering this was an extra charge (they charge you an amenity fee that is supposed to cover the internet), this was unacceptable. The amenity fee also included "gaming access", dvd library, and a daily newspaper. Gaming and DVDs are not things we would ever pay for or use. We did not receive a daily newspaper either. We also booked a "king" bed, but this was two twins pushed together so it was like my partner and I were in separate beds anyways.

Beautiful place, fantastic location (5 minute walk from the beach) spacious room, great kitchen.

The only issues I had were the door between rooms, the AC, and the constant alarm. The door between the bedroom and the living room didn't fully close, it was a sliding door. There was no AC in the room, so it got really hot there and we had to keep the sliding door open and hope the AC would hit the room. The warning alarm went off 3 times while we were there (all false alarms) and all 36 floors had to walk downstairs every time.

The beach was next block, the staff was friendly and helpful, parking could be solved around the block in most of the cases. Kitchen was well equipped as well!

The furniture was a bit old and the extra sofa bed not comfortable at all for sleeping. The a/c was working, though loud enough for the night, so we shutted down. Being there during summer, we had to open the windows with what the traffic noise also came in, that started too early in the morning and lasted late in the evening for a good sleep.

The staff, location, and amenities were all awesome! One or two blocks away from the beach, lots of bus stops nearby, and beautiful atrium! We also stayed with another couple in the same room which was possible because we requested a suite with one bed in the “room” and a sofa pull out bed in the “living room” which we sectioned off with the rolling dividers, so it was a GREAT value considering there were four adults in one room with some privacy!

It’s just a little outdated (which we didn’t mind because it was all clean!) and the pool and hot tub were always busy with children, but we kind of expected it!

Banyan is not a new building but well maintained. sometime we may wait a elevator coming for a while but in Hawaii nobody matters. front office is very nice and room cleaning came in the morning every day punctually. we could chose full or partial service just to exchange towels and take out the trashes. we often rent Banyan condo from private owners rather than Aston, but found it much convenient as we don’t need to wash bath and beach towels.

I like that it was walking distance to the beach. I also liked that we had a kitchen in our room.

I didn’t like that the pool closed at 9pm. i think closing the pool at 10pm is better.

The sofa bed was not working. We arrived late in the evening and was looking forward to relaxing and getting to bed after a long day of travel. We went to open the sofa and it had a large sign on it that said, "Broken. Do not open." A gentleman brought up a roll away bed, but that took up most of the living room space. The next day they sent some men up to replace the bed part of the sofa. When we went to open it again, after housekeeping had put it back together it was jammed and we had to have someone come and help get it fixed again so it could be used. A/C is not in a good spot to cool the entire apt.

The apartment is close to the beach, shops and restaurants, also the bus stops are just around the corner which was really convenient. Our apartment was a great size for the 3 of us and loved that that the laundry was just down the hall.

The only criticism is the carpet was old and dirty looking and the lounge furniture needs to be updated.
