This Marriott is unlike an ordinary hotel. Yes, there are incredible views of the Nile, it has 14 restaurants (with delicious food), the rooms are immaculately decorated and clean, and it includes a lovely private pool for guests. More than that is its history. It was initially built as a palace by former King of Egypt in the late 1800s, before being bought by Marriott in the 1980s. And walking around and inside, it really does feel grand like a palace. The architecture is one of a kind with the grand Golden Arches surrounding the brickwork. The staff are excited to give a brief history and even a tour of the building. You go for a hotel but you have an experience.

While Zamalek is a lovely (and upmarket) area of Cairo, it’s only accessible by taxi. You can’t go for an evening stroll anywhere. You need to get an Uber to go for a stroll… Also, while the food is delicious and service is immaculate, you pay the price for it. A drink is about 50% more than 3 star hotels we stayed in, and about 3 times more than local cafe prices. You’re paying for that quality, assurance and convenience tbh.

The location - it's very central, and there are nice shops and even restaurants nearby. The place itself is really nice, the architecture of the hotel (the reception area) is truly beautiful and the compound is great as well, with a couple of shops and quite a lot of options of restaurants and bars within the hotel compound. The room and the hotel in general were very clean, and the view over the Nile from our 15th floor balcony was amazing.

Some of the staff were lacking common sense, to be honest. Upon arrival, we were with suitcases, and nobody offered to help to put the suitcases on the security belt, even though there were plenty of employees just sitting around. For the price you pay, I think the rooms are not that well maintained: the bathroom ceiling was starting to fall apart, the balcony was not cleaned while we were there.

Superb location and general five star standard, friendly and helpful staff.

Beware of the taxes, this is a Booking problem, not a problem with the hotel. When one makes the booking, it warns you about the possibility of the existence of taxes. This actually means that in Egypt one will have to pay a service charge of 12% and VAT 14%, which will amount to an INCREASE OF 27% OVER THE PRICE YOU GET INITIALLY ON THE BOOKING.

The location is great, the room was comfortable enough and the bed was really comfy (and high). The hotel has many amenities such as a bank open late, stores, and a convenience store.

The phone wasn’t working properly, the promised coffee machine wasn’t there and couldn’t be had unless I switched rooms the second day… there were no outlets available to charge phone overnight on bedside table—all relatively minor things but not for that quality of hotel. Plus there was work being done in the hotel right outside my room, which was noisy

most of the staff were so attentive, kind and helpful

The one area that let you down badly was reception- it was so bad trying to check in that we thought we we would have to checkout the following day ad this appeared to be a dreadful 🏨

Location is central, great palace with beautiful gardens between the two towers that contain the guest rooms. This is my favorite hotel to stay in when visiting Cairo. . The staff are service oriented. Specially at the restaurants outdoor and the oriental restaurant.

The rooms are getting tiered and need an update. The breakfast was somewhat disappointing and disorganized

Staff were helpful, and special thanks to Reem (the receptionist) didn't stop making sure our stay was nothing less than perfect. She helped me quickly to get to our shaleeh without waiting for hours till the checkin tome. Several restaurants in the hotel and shops to get what u need as well as a bank.

The water pressure in the toilet was poor, but the shower worked fine. The shop for cosmetics and tan oils and suncreams was way expensive compared to the prices outside, the pool was small compared to the guests and number of rooms.

Οι κοινοι χώροι.

I arrived for check in at 17:00 in the afternoon... There was a lot of traffic, I waited in line for about 20 minutes. I was offered help by a young lady from across the street, obviously inexperienced. After half an hour of unexplained delay, I paid and was told to wait because the room was not ready! I waited in the lobby for 45 minutes and every time I went back and forth to ask what was going on, she told me to wait some more. At 18:05 I started yelling (I was tired too), went to another employee and demanded to be given the room. Which was done in 10 minutes. I love this hotel, but this experience was outrageous and illegal. You pay for a room to be delivered at 3pm, not whenever they want.

We had a lovely room with pleasing view of garden area. Nice to have tea kettle and coffee maker, slippers and robe in room. Hotel has 24 store with snacks and drinks and yogurt. Japanese and Bakery restaurant was good. Great housekeeping services.

I booked through Booking.com and thought all was paid for including taxes and fees. There was an additional hotel fee that raised price considerably. They said they were giving me an upgraded room on top floor... which was nice. I still don't know why there was such a price difference. Perhaps Booking.com should include any additional hotel fees in their pricing.

After reading so many negative comments on the staff I was hesitant to book this hotel. Glad I did choose it! Without any exception everybody was very, very friendly, polite and always ready to help! Starting with the receptionist that did everything to satisfy my needs ending with the friendly woman in the WC. None of them ever asked for money or anything else. The hotel itself was like an oasis in this bustling city after a day full of dust and noise. The room was spacious and equipped with everything you need. The bed was comfy. Do book the buffet breakfast, it's worth the money. Ok, the staff is sometimes not very professional (e.g. had to ask twice for another pillow) but good service is not something you find often in Egypt. Just one thing I would really recomment - please have new uniforms tailored for the waiters in the garden restaurant and make sure they are clean. Same applies for shoes.

Quite a lot of prostitution going on in that wonderful garden which is obviously accepted by the hotel :(
