The Horus Guest House, the location was out of the main part of Cairo, we wanted to see the real Cairo. And we did. It was like stepping back in time we loved it .... With the view from our room window of the pyramids that was just a treat, this is why we came to Egypt to see the pyramids not high-rise buildings you see them anywhere. Now breakfast was served on the roof top just a great start to the day with the view of the pyramids and the breakfast was of a good standard ...
We had to leave such pleasant staff after just 5 days it was like family .... the stairs where hard at first but it was a good work out ....83 steps to our room we never would complain the exercise did us good.

So this place is an example of âyou get what you pay forâ. Was it amazing? No. But it was great for the price. You do have a spectacular view of the pyramids from the roof and you can see the light show very well. The rooms were clean and exactly as advertised. The staff was nice, but this is Egypt so it does feel a bit like theyâre being nice to you only to get tips.
Cairo in general is rough, Giza is extra rough. The street this hotel is on is⊠particularly rough. If you are a female traveler (especially European/blonde) you will get harassed the second you leave the hotel. The whole area is full of people and shops that are trying to scam you or just generally bother you. The street is also where people keep their horses and the majority of them were in terrible condition, which could be hard for animal lovers. However, I know none of this is the fault of the hotel. We didnât find anything wrong with the actual hotel, just the location. Sure, the pyramids are right there but at what cost?

Location is good and the view to the pyramids is Fantastic! Breakfast was great. Staff was very friendly, reached out to us few times before arrival to offer transfer from airport and day tours in Cairo, which was nice. Facilities in the hotel were good. Best thing in the room is the air-conditioning. Payment by card is possible, which is great.
The bathroom was very dirty, disgusting I would say, but ok for a quick shower. It needs proper cleaning. The common areas of the building were cleaner than inside the room. The whole room was very dusty, because of the area near the Pyramids and the sand coming with the wind, which is normal (do not leave window open!). But still, they could do a bit more dusting of the room before guests arrive. The room needs renovating as well. Towels were old. They were washed, but had stains and too thin - they need new and better quality towels. Hot water was enough for a quick shower of 1 person, the next one should wait a bit. Be careful with the cash - they do not accept USD banknotes with any stains.

The location close to the pyramids is faboulous with great views of the pyramids from our family room and the roof top terrace cafe. The host Mr. Taha welcomes you like a family member and he helped us organize a camel tour around the pyramids, helped to change money and also offered great prices in the shop within the guest house (perfumes, papyrus etc) without the hassle of the street market. We walked to the sphynx entrance (2min away) and bought our own entry tickets. To go to city center we booked Uber taxis without any problem. We booked a family room for 4 people (2 adults, 2 children) and really enjoyed our stay in the hostel, away from the hustle and dirt of the Cairo streets. We can highly recommend.
The stairs from the lobby to the rooms are a bit steep (but no worries, they will carry all your luggage) and some of the furniture on the roof top cafe is a bit old/broken, but all very clean.

The elevator music is cool, the people is very nice, the views are amazing, they gave us personalized tours
If you get a tour that includes lunch be aware that the drinks are not included (normal thing) but the prices will be 3/4 times more expensive than the normal rate at the restaurant. We had lunch one day before the tour at the same restaurant, and we were shocked about the price being 4 times the price we paid the day before, the restaurant refused to bring the menu to check the price.

Hard one to review but iâll keep it honest for fellow travelers, its a very good place compared to the others around it, guys who work there are welcoming & helpful , location is next to the pyramids , breakfast is great , view from the top is very good also đđ» Iâll give it a 9/10 just compared to the egypt standard, if it was somewhere else it would be a 7 at best.
What we didnât like is the usual Egypt Problems. Even though the guys working there are helpful they still canât resist the temptation of trying to sell you stuff all the time which gets annoying, they will overcharge if they have the chance which is a common thing in egypt( but at least they werenât asking for tips too ) Location is next to the pyramids BUT however the area is super dirty, full of horses, camels & people trying to sell you stuff. Room we had was very small with just 1 window on the inside part, facilites were basic to say the most.

The location was just 5 minutes walking from the Pyramids, restaurants and souvenir shops. Very helpful staff at the reception. Also, the view from the 5th-floor restaurant is amazing. You. You can see pyramids at a stone's throw distance
Not many options to eat in breakfast

- Super friendly staff - Free bottle of water everytine you pass through reception - Stunning View - Falafel for breakfast. Just loved it.
- WiFi - If you are sensitive to animal welfare, be aware that at the same street there are several horses "parked" and you can hear whipping all day long - Be sure you're paying for a tour that you want to do. We took a day tour to Saqqara, Memphis and Giza Pyramids, and it was supposed to go from 9am and 5pm. At 2:30pm we were back at the hotel and we had to rush, all the time. We had no time to enjoy the pyramids in Giza and, before that, we were taken to a perfume shop, that was not included on the tour's description, which was clearly a tourist trap. The guide was a nice person, but we expected to get more historical information and less pictures. That was not what we were expecting.

Location with a view of Great Pyramids from the roof top terrace and from the window. Friendly staff. Unlimited free bottled drinking water provided by hotel. Free transfer from the airport to the hotel on arrival (as we stayed 3 nights). Hotel staff arranged for us a day tour of all pyramids in Giza and further south in an air conditioned vehicle and with the guide speaking our language.
Location in the area where you walk around and see horses overexploited to please the tourists visiting the Great Pyramids of Giza. Steep stairs to the upper floors where rooms are located may be challenging (though the staff will take your luggage up to the room and down on check out). The air conditioning unit was not working properly despite the efforts of the staff to fix it.

Staff was so nice and welcoming to Egypt. They offer tours you can do from the hotel, such as trips to the Bazaar and Nile cruises. View was awesome of the pyramids, you could kind of hear the sound and light show. The hotel is secure with cameras if you are concerned about the surrounding area during your drive. They were happy to help me order delivery food as well. Bottled water is free 24/7. Very good value for the money. Note that this is not a western hotel. I heard several Americans complaining about the amenities as it is not the same standards as western hotels. However, you will not find high quality hotels on the US either for this price. Just be advised it may not be exactly what you are used to.
I think they only had stairs, which could be difficult for some travelers. The surrounding area can be loud between the horses, dogs, and traffic. However that is just the Giza area from what I could tell.
