This is a beautiful and historic hotel. The facilities are gorgeous. The manager and staff went out of their way to welcome us and take care of us. The breakfast was excellent. The location is perfect and just a few minutes' walk from everything. Everything was new, freshly painted and carpeted, and immaculately kept. We had our own parking spot in front, with our name on it, for only 10 euros per night. The outdoor patio area is lovely and extensive. We would love to stay here again and stay longer!

No elevator, but that's typical for a building of this historic nature.

The hotel was close to town and well appointed. Extra toiletries and robes were provided. We had just come from a hotel in Paris that did not provide wash cloths or lotion. We were very happy to have both of these items in Bayeaux. The room was very clean and on the larger side. The mattress on the pull out was thin and would be more comfortable with som additional padding. The main bed was comfortable. We rented e- bikes and opted to have them delivered to the hotel. They were stored until we arrived and they were picked up later that night. We appreciated the hotel providing that service. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our stay here and would return.

Our room overlooked the Main Street in town, so it was a little noisy in the evening and early morning. I did not hear other guests at the hotel so that was nice. .

We had the privilege to stay at this wonderful hotel for three nights. We were celebrating a special occasion and the hotel helped accommodate our requests. Our room was amazing with the most beautiful view of the cathedral. Our room was a suite and provided a rustic charm with ultra modern amenities. The bed was so comfortable and all the extra touches made our time there so welcoming. The soaking tub was well appreciated after a long day of touring. We had breakfast in the hotel and the food was delicious. The hot and cold buffet options were perfect as we were trying to eat quickly before our tours. The staff was always friendly and helpful. We loved having a glass of wine in the bar at the end of our long days. I can't say enough about this spectacular property.

Sadly the restaurant was closed both of the nights that we were there so we never had the option to have dinner on the premises. I guess we will have to come back.

Super selection of local produce for breakfast. Plenty to choose from! Rooms spacious, comfy bed and pillows. Well equipped room and bathroom with good shower. Friendly and helpful staff at all times. Lovely restaurant with good dinner menu. Fantastic location right in the centre of town. Super bar area with log fire, comfy chairs and even a friendly cat! Images of famous people who have stayed at the hotel adorn the walls of the bar. We had a fabulous stay and had the most wonderful time at the Lion D’Or. Highly recommended and would stay there again.

Would have been better if there had been boiling water for making tea at breakfast.

My experience at the restaurant was bizarre. The woman who was serving us seemed offended that I did my best to use the language of the country we were actually in (this is my ninth visit to France). Whether this led to my steak being cooked medium the American way, while my girlfriend recieved hers the way we both wanted it (a point) I can't say, as she passesd us off to someone else to serve, who, while polite, still seemed to see us poorly (but honestly I can't tell if this was just my perception at that point). This hotel was great, and the bartender was wonderful, as I said, but I cannot recommend the restaurant.

The staff, the location, the rooms, and the ambiance.

For the most part, everything went well. It would have helped to have had an elevator, but I received help carrying my lugagge up and down. I was concerned that I asked not to have my room cleaned but found that someone had been in my room one of the days because they accidently left a piece of paper with a telephone number, etc. written on it. When I turned it in and asked about it, I didn't get much of an answer, just an acknowledgement, and I speak French.

The staff was very helpful and the lounge area was nice. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was nice and very large. The location was fantastic! So convenient to everything. There were nice restaurants nearby. We requested parking ahead of time and that was quite good. We'd definitely stay there again. You need to book dinner there ahead of time before you come as they were all booked up. The menu looked good. The exterior was lovely and on a sunny day there was a nice outside seating area. (We had rain but it was still nice there!) We liked the town. Convenient to the Tapestry Museum, shopping and the hospital.

We opened the window at night as it got a little warm in Sept. Everything else was good and we'd go back.

Nice hotel variable sized rooms but all nicely done, ours was large with a nice bathroom. The restaurant was closed on sunday and monday nights which was when we stayed but they recommended good alternatives. The bar is very nice but only one member of staff on duty to handle bar and reception so it took ages for all of us to get our drinks and some had finished before the others arrived, not ideal. The staff are nice and helpful but it seems overstretched.

better bar staff system or more staff bit more notice ideally when we booked that the restaurant was not going to be open.

It took a long time to get served a drink, had to be reminded three times before drink arrived. When a hotel only has one bar, it seemed strange to close it off for a private function for 1 hour near 18.00. We have not been to a hotel previously where hotel guests do not get access to the restaurant.

Beautiful, large, comfortable room. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. View of the cute courtyard. Very quiet. Wonderful staff. They stored our luggage when we first arrived because we were early. They stored our luggage on the check-out day as we were on a tour. Excellent little restaurant and nice bar. Walking distance to the main town center, restaurants, and attractions.
